  • The google pixel 8 and 8 pro were just announced and as an iPhone user and apple fanboy, I’m considering switching! I’m really impressed with the software optimizations and camera features…but is that enough to pull me out of the Apple Ecosystem?

    Honestly with the message thing it's not going to bother you at all because you're not the one that sees the blue text messages. It's iPhone users that see it because of what Apple does with their communications. Also, not to mention the fact that you can schedule text messages to be sent out, which is good. If you need to text somebody at a certain time in the future and you can still react to messages like you count on iPhone. The difference is you can use literally any emoji that you want to not just the haha and the laughing and the few things that are on there. Also, voice typing is very convenient and ridiculously fast on the pixel. Anything related to iMessage that's 100% on Apple because do that because short of locking you into iMessage. If we're being honest, there would be nothing holding you back from switching to another phone, but once you switch to a pixel you'll realize that you're really not missing out on anything for iMessage

    as an iPhone user myself, the ecosystem is the only reason I havent switched over myself. I have mac desktop, macbook, apple tv, airpods, and an apple watch. while I feel like the pixel is a 'better' phone than the iphone (based on my needs) I feel like the other products in the apple ecosystem are still better as of today. however if apple ever updates its messages from sms to rcs then ill drive to the nearest bestbuy and upgrade today. as it stands I might use still get a pixel and use it to 'escape' from the ecosystem of apple from time to time

      @ardentlytech  8 месяцев назад

      Yes 100%. Switching to the phone is an easy enough sell for me personally but the other pieces of the ecosystem are hard to say they’re up to snuff on Google side

    I am in a similar situation. I even just upgraded to the 15 Pro Max, but I am considering going with a Pixel 8 Pro. Biggest concern for me has been replacing the Apple Watch for fitness tracking, but it sounds like the Pixel Watch should do pretty well, way better than the Galaxy for heart rate. Since it looks like Google typically has a Black Friday sale, I am going to wait until then to allow for some more hands on reviews and to make sure this isn't just a FOMO phase for me. Giving you a follow to see what happens!

    • @ardentlytech
      @ardentlytech  8 месяцев назад

      I totally understand that FOMO! That’s gotta be an even tougher choice after just upgrading! I’ve been hearing promising things on the Pixel Watch too, so that’s encouraging

    After my first iPhone in 2008, I had various Android phones (almost all Nexus and until the Pixel 3A, almost all pixel phones).
    I love Google, the services and apps from Google. But Android was always problematic for me - something always didn't quite work the way it should. It wasn't smooth, there were lags, apps closed, etc. Almost every year I bought a new phone to make it work better. After the Pixel 3A, I gave up the hope and switched to an iPhone 13 Pro (before that, I bought an 11" iPad Pro 2020, which still works great today / that was the reason why i switched because the iPad works really smooth and great). Later i bought an Apple Watch and AirPods Pro 2 too.
    Not everything is perfect with Apple either, but with my usage everything works more pleasantly for me and the devices annoy me less than the Android phones did.
    Even now I love Android more than Apple's system, but for me Android is unfortunately too slow, not consistent and it always has something that I don't need in our already complicated world. I tried a Chromebook too and had the same experience / on paper looks good, it makes the job but the OS is not smooth and slow.
    Apple isn't perfect either, but it works better for me.

    How are ppl not getting the photo they intended to take. That just doesn't make sense to me.
    Also "FaceTime voicemail" already exists with Google Meet, you'll be fine.

    • @ardentlytech
      @ardentlytech  8 месяцев назад +1

      I hear you, it’s an annoying issue. I used to have this issue when I had Android before, it’s leaps and bounds better now but when I had my old LG, it would click to take the photo but then either the photo just literally wasn’t in the gallery or the app would shut down after taking the photo. That said, I did hear about the FaceTime voicemails equivalent so I’m excited to hear about that!

      @@ardentlytech True enough LG's demise was written in the stars 😂. I gotta LMAO at "FaceTime voicemail equivalent"; Google literally had the feature first. I find it hilarious how we center Apple in the tech space just bc of its popularity 😅.

    Lol when you said the FaceTime voicemail, I just realized we've had that on Google duo. Now. Google meet for a long time😂😂 you still have that functionality. You're not going to miss anything because we have it. And also you can leave emojis and text and different filters and etc. As part of your video message

      @@ardentlytech 😂😂 I always tell people that pixel is the only phone that I truly consider to be an actual smartphone because it is an actual smartphone like with an iPhone or a Samsung or any other phone. If you give it to an older person, you have to teach them to show them how to use it. But if you give a pixel to an older person, all they have to know is to say hey Google and then whatever function they want it to do so they don't even need to know where everything is 😂😂. Also the recognition is getting crazy. I'll be out in public and people of all ages and know that it's a pixel and I don't even have to mention it to them. They know just by looking at it and ask me about it.

    • @therealzuluking
      @therealzuluking 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@ardentlytech if I'm being honest I'm not even sure if anything but Apple has is cutting edge when you compare it to a pixel even iMessage because you can use Google message with RCS features on literally any device or you can just go on a computer & into your account and it will work so it's not restricted by the hardware which is a HUGE plus if say you forgot your phone lost it or if you're a business 🔥

  • @therealzuluking

    Hopefully you've seen each of my comments since you wanted your concerns addressed. But literally when you switch to a pixel versus an iPhone, you're realized that you're concerns quickly. Diminish especially with all phones now being gestures and iPhone copying pixel with a lot of their current features. So for a lack of a better phrase, it will feel like you're on an iPhone, but one that's better. That's the only way I phrase it for a person that's coming from an iPhone to a pixel if that makes sense. If you have any other concerns about leaving the Apple ecosystem, I can more than address them to put you at ease. But overall good video 💯 can't wait to see you Join team pixel 🤝🏾

      I definitely saw all that, man! You’re a real one for laying this stuff out! Wow so there’s really not much at all im missing out on. Especially food point out about the concerns diminishing quickly, while I’ll miss some of the FaceTime voicemail stuff, there’s a near equivalent solution for those kinds of things already. Dang this is tough 😭😭

    • @therealzuluking
      @therealzuluking 8 месяцев назад

      @@ardentlytech lol yeah. Also, I was checking out Google meet and you can leave more than just a video message. You can leave a voice message. You can leave a photo with text or just a picture. Basically any type of medium you can leave as a message. That's pretty sweet 🕺🏾💃🏻🪩
      I know for a fact you'll like your pixel whether you get the eight or the eight pro. Let me know when you get it. Mine's coming in on Friday

    • @therealzuluking
      @therealzuluking 8 месяцев назад

      @@ardentlytech also let me add this so you know when you get it. Switching to a pixel is probably the easiest thing because when you set the phone up, it will prompt you to plug in both phones to each other. It's a copy data and it will do it so well to the point that it even copies the wallpaper which is pretty clean so there's not much that you have to actually set up once everything is transferred. And let's say, for example, if you do upgrade to the Pixel 9 after the pixel 8 and you do the same thing, it will copy everything including your settings because it's the same OS so at that point you literally don't have to set anything else up except for signing in and copying your data

  • @therealzuluking
    @therealzuluking 8 месяцев назад

    To your point about why you can't switch because all of your Apple products will become obsolete almost everything except I'm not sure about the iPad but everything the phone, watch, and earbuds you can trade in so they don't become obsolete and you get some value when you purchase those things from Google

      Personally I can see myself using Best Take often. I have two kids and taking a family photo where we’re all smiling, not blinking, and not moving can sometimes be difficult as I’m sure you can imagine. Assuming this features as well as advertised, I’d be using this often.
