Oh god I've loved the Damned since I was in high school in the 80's. In my band days I had to fight to not ape Dave's style. Got to open for the Phantom Chords in 1992, and got to hang out with Captain for a while last October in Silver Springs on the Darkadelic tour. Good lord he's such a great guy. I've sold my off Pixies tickets to help pay to see the Damned in DC. Philly, Cleveland, Columbus, and Detroit this year and I'm debating going to Tennessee and Georgia too. I've seen (and/or opened for) almost everyone from Devo to Iggy Pop, Bowie, and The Ramones, but no one is as inspirational as The Damned. They make the Earth a good place to be.
The chorus is a bit reminiscent of the verse of "We Gotta Get Out of This Place", but I think this song is fantastic in its own right. Dave has truly become a fantastic singer, and this song is just sublime. Great version too.
@@PlaceSoFarAway no it's not only the chorus the whole song reminds me of something they did-original track) years ago & Dave has always had an amazing voice he's from my home town him & Sensible used to knock about local shops where his mum lived I didn't know who they were then I didn't get into punk until 1978 age 13 I first saw the Damned in 1979 when the Ruts supported them one crazy gig.
The “Carry My Heart” part is everything
