I work in a soil lab and I run Consolidated Undrained triaxials quite often. But I use a computer program to generate the strength parameters automatically, but I am trying to generate results by doing hand calcs and this video helps me understand things better. Thanks!!

people like you should be thanked for doing this however i wish you would have made a video on how to properly conduct the test

How to ensure the specimen is saturated?

Thanks for your nice presentation. Do we need undisturbed sample or disturbed sample ?

Hi Phil, please can you use real values to solve this, want to really get how you obtain the values from the test and how you obtain C and the angles in the coulomb equation.

I'll try to put together more videos on triaxial testing, but it might not be for a while

Hi Phil, for this test, can the sample be disturbed ? And if so, would you not like to test the same density in the lab as it was within the field? Thanks

    • @philrenforth9569

Thanks for the comment Jurgens. The test can be carried out on remoulded samples but if your sample strength is sensitive to remoulding, this will not reflect the insitu strength. Yes, the density is important to know as this influences the angle of friction.

@@philrenforth9569 Thanks! But I feel it would have been clearer if you had explained the difference between "cell pressure" and the "pore pressure" and how they act and impact on the "Normal pressure".
