Great content CARWOW! however- on your drag races you keep talking about Torque, however it is horsepower only that matters when trying to accelerate as fast as possible. when RPM is between 5000-7000 during the race, torque figures are not relevant at all. torque might matter when starting a pull from low revs WITHOUT KICKDOWN, but you rarely show such scenarios on your drag videos. torque that is availible only on high revs (i.e. 4000 instead of 1500) might cause a launch from standstill to be slower than expected. however, if you use launch control you've eliminated this problem. I also have to say, on turbo cars sometimes the manufacturer claims peak torque at low revs (i.e. 1250-1600) but they don't mention the long lag that occurs when in low revs. therefore, unless you are in 5th gear or so, the car goes up the revs quickly (i.e. 1st and 2nd gears) and until the full boost and full torque arrives you are no longer in the low RPM zone, but rather at 2500 or more. I think it will be interesting to see drag races WITHOUT launch control. I think it is more of an everyday situation on the road. Regarding braking distances: they will be mostly determined by tire type (soft semi-slicks, summer tires, all seasons, all terrain). wondering why the heavier car stopped quicker is too simplistic. weight does not cause long braking distance. what matters is the ratio of weight divided in tire size (contact patch), and even this has pretty small effect on the friction coefficient. with great tires you should stop from 60mph in 2.3 or 2.4 seconds. Last thing: sometimes it is obvious that not all the cars in your drag races left the starting line at the same time. I think you should cancel that race and re make it, until all cars launch at about the same time. thanks for reading :)

If this was the level of reviewing a normal car, he would not be able to even start an engine with a start button. It would be Matt trying to stuff the keyless remote into every hole. Carwow is not really reviewing cars, it's all about banging out some enterntaining content with product placement of their app as fast as possible.

Usually reviews of this van (and the smaller one based on the transporter) involve someone walking around in amazement at every feature, so refreshing to see a real review.

It's a bit scary when vanlifers do a better job at van conversions than a company known for their campervans :/.

True, but don't forget that after you've used this thing for a decade or more, you can still sell it for a medium-sized fortune and get a surprising amount of the money back. But yeah, for 70K I'd want an electric version.

@@JStryker7 The problem with that is that hotels are almost always in towns/cities and cost £50-£100/night. If you want to be in the country a camper is hard to beat. And over 20 years it'll save you 15 to 50 grand in hotel fees.
. Wookey Also it‘s a lot more reserved and gets you more in contact with nature. I‘m not overly convinced by this model but having a camper van sure is a great thing.

I went to see one of these in my local VW dealer in Poland; it cost the equivalent of 50 thousand pounds in the same spec (apart form the 2-tone paint). It's a good van and a very good price (similar price to the normal California), but only if that's what you're looking for - Mat doesn't seem to have much understanding/experience of campervans.

Honestly, it aint too expensive compared to other camper of this Size. I personally really like it although I habe to say that they couldve eine without a toilet, that wouldve fremd up quite some space.

This is one of the best van reviews on the VW GC that I have seen so far. In my humble opinion it shows a far more honest review of what the average person who is new to vanning would find. I am actually impressed by this van, I have been watching videos on it since it came out, and this is the first video that has shown how bad the water pressure is, that would be my only real concern with this unit, I like a good shower, not a trickle on my head... I'm used to camping with almost nothing but a Coleman stove and sleeping bag, so this for me would be luxury. And something that I will be looking at in a few years when I retire and sell the house and everything else and become a vandweller.

You could tell instantly that the builders didn't care about right-hand-drive countries. They didn't bother to convert the cabin layout so that we could get on/off FROM THE SAFE SIDE (which is left)!

In the U.S. this would make more sense as you have lots of open space without hotels you'd maybe want to stay. In England and Europe a hotel is almost never further than a couple kilometres away. This van makes no sense. It's way overpriced, ugly and really just an overpriced decathlon camper kit strapped onto a vehicle made for transporting electrician and other craftsmen gear.
