During his military service in WW2, Serling was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Phillipine Medal of Honor. He was seriously wounded.
Great interview! Very interesting. That being said, Serling was in the 11th Airborne Division, not the 101st. He also saw heavy combat in the Philippines fighting against the Japanese and was wounded.
If you want to find out about The Real Rod Serling-I highly recommend a book written about him called "As I Knew Him" written by Rod' daughter Anne Serling.it's a great book if you want to learn what he was really like.
