  • The Ohio Story was a historical radio and TV series that aired all over the state from the 1940's-1960's..The TV version aired from 1952-into the early 1960's..Narrator on the TV version was orator and TV/Broadway/Radio Actor Nelson Olmstead.
    This particular episode, "The Port of Toledo" we know aired on WXEL-TV 8 at about 4:30PM as filler between games of a Cleveland Indians-New York Yankees Baseball Doubleheader from Yankee Stadium Sunday, September 11, 1955.

    Makes you wonder what happened to Toledo because it has failed so miserably over the years. The "Glass Capital" is no longer the glass capital, Champion has left and Toledo Scales along with so many other industries have just plain gone. My father was born in Toledo in 1921, I was born in 1949 and I see Toledo as he did. Toledo tried but failed. Toledo is a dying town just as Detroit.
