Guys, please make this cake. You won't regret it - I promise! I made it some days ago and it REALLY is superb. Like WOW. The fluffiest chocolate-thingy ever, all fluffy throughout and oh so good. The texture is incredible. I am an experienced baker but I have never had anything like this. Plus, it's so so so easy to make and takes no time. For those of you who (like me) do not have any equipment for steaming like seen in the vid, just put some metal cookie cutters (all the same height) on the bottom of the pot, add some water (so that the top part of the cookie cutters stays dry and the cake tin doesn't come in contact with the water) and place the cake tin on the cookie cutters. Put the lid on the pot, turn on the heat and - voilá, your own steamer.

Oven and microwave isn't really a thing in SE asian, and this no-oven baking is smth that most Indonesians are looking for, since we don"t have oven in most household, even in some fancy looking houses, they're not usually have one either. Just 1 set of propane gas stove is enough for us. Oh, and a rice cooker hahah
I don't know. Oven is a thing that most SE Asian household don't have because it's expensive, plus we have a pretty fine working gas stove and rice cooker to cook our hearty meals. Oh and SE Asians like to steam food because they're much healthier than fried food, so most Asian household have at least a small steamer than an oven.
It might be due to the absence of an oven in some Asian houses - in Japan you're likely not to have one, installing it might be costly while getting such a steamer isn't 🤷🏻♀️

I made this! It's fantastic. I don't have a steamer, so i used a regular pot with a colander inside (i found this word in google translate cause otherwise i would have said: 'the thing with the holes' :P) . It worked! Thanks for the recipe
I too clicked on this b/c I wondered how a cake would be cooked without an oven. I've seen lots of steamed cakes but for some reason the picture didn't suggest that to me. I love the idea of this technique for cakes. I've made steamed breads and buns before and they taste great and have nice texture. You don't have to have so much unusual equipment or a dedicated steamer like the one shown. You can do steaming in any large pot. I have a little stand I put in my stock pot and that's where I place the plate of buns or bread pan. You could also pick up a bamboo steamer anywhere for just a few bucks and place that over the pot of boiling water. Easy peasy:)
Most household in south east asian region don't have oven in their house cause it's expensive af, steamer is a cheaper option and most people in south east asian region have them

This looks soooo unusual! Like no other cake online! It took me like 10 minutes after searching through RUclips, then through my watch later list (it's a massive 1k list) to find it. It looks pudding-y. Also, the Mandela effect is possibly real, I thought the piece was cut on the right side, not the left. Plan to make this when I can get some bakers chocolate to melt. Thank you for sharing!! Edit: Shocked this got so many replies. Budget is tight, so will probably have to wait until the first week of next month to get ingredients. Will post how it tastes when I make it then! Just a couple weeks, don't worry!!
Thank you for the recipes, I was planning to do these for Christmas Eve, I hope everyone who comes to the party, would enjoy the delightful puddings/deserts. 😋
When I saw this video today. A whole fountain of drool came out of my mouth, I was so anxious to make this cake, thank you for showing us how to make this.
Look, instead of sugar i used xilitol and i didn't do the chocolate cover so that i didn't eat butter. If you do this it's like if you eat bread with oil and a cup of milk, because xilitol doesn't contain any carboidrates (Oh, i didn't use vanilla too)
A tip if you wanna lose weight, don't stop eating this kind of things compleatly (unless your doctor tells you so) you can still eat cakes and stuff but less, or if you wanna eat a donut, buy an icecream instead, it's not healthier but it's les damaging
To you guys who feel weirded out, that said in the comments that its weird(most of the comments are asian, weirdly.), Where do you live?(No really, i'm interested) Honestly, I really think the comments are not relatable. Examples of them from what I know (Correct me if I'm wrong) are: - kue putu ,bolu, and serabi in Indonesia, - Kuih Pinjaran, Ma Lai Go(not native but widely popular),Beko Pandan in Malaysia, -Bánh da Lợn in Vietnam, -Ma Lai Go from China, - Pui Fai fromT hailand -Mushi from Japan -Puto cake from the Philipines -White steamed rice cake and tteokbokki(Yes, Its rice "cake") in Korea And um heck, even as per my knowledge, there are pretty many steamed cakes from europe and america(Correct me if I'm wrong) -I've tried something from Brazil called "Cuscuz cake" made with cornmeal which is also steamed -There's also British christmas cake which is very famous, it's steamed -And also there are pretty many steamed chocolate cakes for western countries -There's a type of Steamed apple cake from Russia which idk the name -Also you should know marble cake right? it's steamed or baked Edit:I'm not mad, just want to inform you, You should try some it's delicious

Me: without an oven? Hows that gonna work
Him:*whips out a steamer*
Me: because everyone has a steamer at home 👁👄👁
Me too, but I think that's possible if u put the oven at a low heat with a water bowl under it, maybe that has a similar effect but idk
oof i thought all households had one
Where can you even buy a steamer???

I made this! It's fantastic. I don't have a steamer, so i used a regular pot with a colander inside (i found this word in google translate cause otherwise i would have said: 'the thing with the holes' :P) . It worked! Thanks for the recipe

It looks very nice, is it possible to bake in the oven instead of in a steam bath? Greetings from Poland
You can use the oven to bake for 45-50 minutes at 170 c °
Też się właśnie zastanawiałam, czy można w piekarniku :p
@@takis3268 No to sprawa sie wyjasnila :)
You can steam in the oven (not electrical one) if you put a baking tray with boiling water below (or preheat your oven with the water)

This might be one of the most beautiful things i have ever laid my filthy eyes on
I too clicked on this b/c I wondered how a cake would be cooked without an oven.

Few people have a steamer, everyone has an oven.
"How do you make a cake without an oven, all you need is a steamer"
maybe that's the case where you live
In fact, I do have a steamer, but not an oven.
In Japan most households don't have ovens, I don't know about steamers though
Most household in south east asian region don't have oven in their house cause it's expensive af, steamer is a cheaper option and most people in south east asian region have them
I don't have any of them xD

This looks soooo unusual! Like no other cake online! It took me like 10 minutes after searching through RUclips, then through my watch later list (it's a massive 1k list) to find it. It looks pudding-y. Also, the Mandela effect is possibly real, I thought the piece was cut on the right side, not the left. Plan to make this when I can get some bakers chocolate to melt. Thank you for sharing!! Edit: Shocked this got so many replies. Budget is tight, so will probably have to wait until the first week of next month to get ingredients. Will post how it tastes when I make it then! Just a couple weeks, don't worry!!
if you do this share the results! I wanna know if it's tasty

Look, instead of sugar i used xilitol and i didn't do the chocolate cover so that i didn't eat butter. If you do this it's like if you eat bread with oil and a cup of milk, because xilitol doesn't contain any carboidrates

To you guys who feel weirded out, that said in the comments that its weird(most of the comments are asian, weirdly.), Where do you live?(No really, i'm interested) Honestly, I really think the comments are not relatable. There are very famous steam "cakes" (if the definition of cakes are an item of soft, sweet food made from a mixture of flour etc)from asia, since fun fact, most of them are steamed, not baked. Examples of them from what I know (Correct me if I'm wrong) are:
- kue putu ,bolu, and serabi in Indonesia,
- Kuih Pinjaran, Ma Lai Go(not native but widely popular),Beko Pandan in Malaysia,
-Bánh da Lợn in Vietnam,
-Ma Lai Go from China,
- Pui Fai fromT hailand
-Mushi from Japan
-Puto cake from the Philipines
-White steamed rice cake and tteokbokki(Yes, Its rice "cake") in Korea
And um heck, even as per my knowledge, there are pretty many steamed cakes from europe and america(Correct me if I'm wrong)
-I've tried something from Brazil called "Cuscuz cake" made with cornmeal which is also steamed
-There's also British christmas cake which is very famous, it's steamed
-And also there are pretty many steamed chocolate cakes for western countries
-There's a type of Steamed apple cake from Russia which idk the name
-Also you should know marble cake right? it's steamed or baked
Edit:I'm not mad, just want to inform you, You should try some it's delicious
Thank you that was very informative. I was not weirded out by the video at all. It was relaxing
Chilllllll dont need to write a whole essay
Ur weird and scary
I am Russian, I've never heard about steamed Russian cakes. You are probably talking about Sharlotka (apple pie) but it's also baked.
Correct me if im wrong
This would be good for someone who doesn’t have an oven in their apartment
Oooh, really?
No shit sherlock
A smal oven would ne cheaper than a steamer tho lol. Don't tell me someone doesnt have space for an over but for a steamer.
