- Lyric Video for Lake Street Dive "Set Sail (Prometheus & Eros)"
Our new album "Good Together" is out now! Listen here: found.ee/LSDGoodTogether
This started as a demo that Bridget sent me the first bit of just before I got on a flight to Japan. She told me that she pictured two humans landing on a new planet after narrowly escaping the destruction of Earth with nothing but their love (and their spaceship?) intact. For whatever reason, the voice memo was titled “Prometheus and Eros.” It occurred to me that maybe the people on that planet weren’t just humans but some reincarnation of the aforementioned gods. Eros, who brought love to humanity, and Prometheus, the titan who stole fire from heaven and gave it to mortals. About as different from each other as any two “entities” could be. From there it wasn’t too hard to continue the story (especially with thirteen hours to kill).. Suddenly, it was a duet and it was an EPIC tale. A little bit love story, a little bit space opera, a little bit creation myth…
But whoever they were, these intrepid lovers, they were strangers in a strange land having nothing but each other. In the end, whether narrative or allegory, epyllion or simple love song, it made perfect sense. And this song concludes the album the same way in which it began: a song about two conflicted people with a great deal of history behind them but the potential for anything in front of them. They sing, they weep, they love - and they hold hands as they step unto the verge of something new.

This song. Wow. When I lost my wife, I thought my life was over. Then I met a wonderful woman who had also lost her spouse. Unto the breech indeed. Wow.
Very melodic song, well-written with intelligent lyrics and interesting rhymes. The singers do it justice. I love this group!
I could cry this is so good. When songwriters and musicians aim high and get there, it’s one of life’s great pleasures. Bravissimo.
This one makes me cry! It so good. Just beautiful.
I heard 25 and was amazed. Then I heard this and am just utterly stunned.
One of their best. Bravo LSD!
such a strange yet beautiful song. is it about space travel?

Aki & Bridget! A lovely song. Just listened to it for the first time. Love the easy slide on this. Feels like George Harrison was there.
Thank you LSD. You make my ears very happy.
I hear sweet echoes of George Harrison and the lyrics touch my life. Jeff Lynne might be jealous.
For some years I have enjoyed your music wrapped around very thoughtful lyrics; usually so different to other popular music. With 'Set Sail' I think you have absolutely exceeded even your own high standards. Well done. Roger - Melbourne, Australia
Just wanna let you guys know that someone in the Philippines is enjoying your music.
Yeah, this one is gonna be on repeat for a while.
This is some Queen-level shiate here man. Fantastic!
I am absolutely in love with this song! As in, I'm absolutely in awe of how beautiful it is! Thank you!
Me too...
This one's a keeper.
This is the Raise Your Cellphone Flashlights In The Air song!! Starting at 2:38 til the end!!
Divine and eargasmic!
This is beautiful (as always). Question: I've tried to find a reference that would clear up for me what nuance they're going for with the phrase "unto the breach". I can find a lot on "into the breach" and I'm wondering if they're trying to put a new spin on the phrase?
John, Paul, George, and Ringo
This is as good as any of the Beatles’ big epic songs.
Thank you all for this
Thank you so much for being you. LSD are so great!
Wow, great song and performance
I chose to listen to this song in the release list first for the promise of it's intriguing myth-referencing title, and am rewarded by repeated listens with the gift of audial kisses from Rachael, and the stormy fire that her erstwhile Prometheus brings in counterpoint to her vocal. This is so beautiful; a lyrical triumph that will remain with me the rest of my days. The interpretation and nuance of meanings here is poignant Art with a capital A. Mythos made Logos and reconciled as Theos. This song is what religion wishes it were. 😏
Sooo beautiful ❤️
Remarkable 💖
I’m literally obsessed with this band. Can’t explain how awesome their songs are. -from Japan
I hope you can license this song to Disney and make $$$$ . It’s a great tune and the execution is just so lovely. Lake Street Dive, you make me so happy. Thank you all for your contributions to the collective musical land scape. I love you all!
Great song. A thinking fan's song. ♥ I wish for the role of Heracles in the pre-qual, albeit, having freed Prometheus, I will remain, tragically, earth-bound. Excellent comment @igortakesabride1139. Based on your Igor handle, it seems that the subtitle Mary Shelley gave her novel Frankenstein, "The Modern Prometheus" may have crossed your mind. What is your opinion of the way the sound engineering gods have blended Akie's voice with Rachael's on this album? A distinct and pleasurable difference to my ear.
I saw you all in Cincinnati Sunday and all I can say, including about this song is WOW! Your talent is incredible! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!!!!!
Moves me to tears! Just beautiful!
This sounds like part of a musical or something. Awesome!
I can imagine this as a song being played as the credits are shown at the end of a movie!
Absolutely splendid!
This song is the example of how music and lyrics are capable of communicating something mere words are powerless to do. Listen to Elton John's "The One" for a similar experience.
Also, the harmonies at times are like Paul McCartney's song "My Love."
Thank you giving the world another song that reaches our souls and transforms us!
Emotionally resonated with me! Beautiful voices and lyrics.
Absolutely cannot get enough of it. Ending such a joy of an album with a beautiful masterpiece like this.. You guys are outstanding!
I am so excited to see them tonight at the Orpheum in Vancouver...
This is one of those songs that I wish I can go back in time and listen to for the first time again
Christ this slaps so hard
Lovely voice
😢
Bring. Back. McDuck.
$175 for tickets?
Who do you guys think you are? The Eagles?
Nothing more than an average 'bar band'.
A small step above elevator music. Music that’s tailor made to play in the courtyards at suburban “lifestyle centers” in between the trendy brew pub and the overpriced candle store. This is music for people who think steely dan is “too edgy”.
Wut?
Well named account. A small step above russian bot comment. A comment that’s tailor made to be copied and pasted in any music video so the commentor can feel that maybe someone else might embrace his joyless bitterness, for whom simply feeling an emotion “just isn’t edgy enough”.
I feel bad for the young person you once were, whom someone hurt with that same bitterness. That chain can be broken.
@@abcedertreetoo huh?
Who hurt you?
Um, no.
