I've been blessed to be acquainted with Clint for the past several years. I want people to know he is every bit as genuine as you see him. Very, very grounded, unpretentious, happily married to a wonderful woman, Kat, with a family life now! He deserves all the happiness life is offering him. He created so much happiness that is now coming back to him. Great karma!
I'm about his age and always noticed him in TV and films when I was a kid. Ron is about my brother's age and our parents were also from Oklahoma and moved to California. Read nothing but good things about them over the years and I think being from a similar background made me appreciate and root for them more!
Clint was an underestimated actor in my opinion.. And also Rance their dad was underestimated.. But they all had a "star" quality. All very good. Clint was hilarious in his role on Seinfeld. Rance was on Seinfeld at least once too. Rance and his wife did a good job raising their kids.
He was in a movie called Rock n Roll High School. Saw it for the first time in in high school on Night Flight. Changed my life. That movie helped me to be okay with myself. He was in it and had a great part! Glad to know he is living his best life!
When Ron and Clint were young boys they made a deal to always have each other in their movies or shows. Clint has been in every Ron Howard movie. That just shows how grounded those boys were they honored their Boyhood Pact
What a great interview. I appreciate Graham’s listening skills and letting Ron finish his answer without interrupting. That is such a rarity these days.
Graham is such an excellent interviewer. He's attentive to his body language, asks short but powerful questions, and gives space to receive undiluted, raw and real answers. More interviews please!!
Great inside interview about Ron and his family, especially how after having children he realized how profound his mom’s influence was on his life and how he dismissed her earlier in his life. His success can be traced because he stood on the shoulders of giants, his parents. I hope his children pay him the same homage.
Others have said this but it cannot be stressed enough. Graham is a master of this type of interview. He interviews in this long format and that give him the the chance to ask the great question, then let the guest answer and ramble. And that’s where the jewels come from. Incredible interview with the Howards here. Thank you to all.
Such good men. Ron was a big part of my childhood and have to say that he is even better looking with age.He and his brother were such characters to be so talented . I wish they could be a bigger part of our active public, just to lead by example.
I met Mr Ron Howard he was so awesome. I was a extra in a movie called Christmas Skyward. I can remember how my hometown was so honored in him making the movie there. Sweet memories at MHS and life defining moments Priceless ❤
Ron and Rance Howard are two of the most honest straight forward people in show business. You get the feeling you could have a good conversation with them both.
A lot of people rag on Hollywood (and rightly so!) for destroying the lives of child actors, but very few people point out the role of the parents in the children's lives. The Howard brothers are a good example of child actors who weren't destroyed by Hollywood because their parents protected them from all that filth. Kudos to Rance and Cheryl Howard!
Yeah, they were VERY lucky to have 2 mentally stable parents who raised them to be mentally stable adults. I always tell people, you have to be mentally prepared to deal with Hollywood, or success in this industry period. We hear so much about their dad, and he really did have incredible insight in how to navigate this industry on behalf of his children. Again, great stable parents, God bless them!
Ron's brother, Clint, nearly self- destructed because of drugs & alcohol. Who knows what happened to him. There are SO MANY PEDOPHILES in Hollywood, we don't know.
I don't always approve of everything Ron Howard does, but when I see this family, I have such profound respect for the way the parents raised their boys. The politeness, and the way they seem to have not let them get big-headed, but to remain on the level of other human beings, not looking down on the ones who aren't from entertainment, has always been really impressive.
@@standupG1 I don't think I said anything wrong. Maybe Ron knows I don't approve of everything he does, all the movies that he makes, but I wanted to say how much I think of his family and his wonderful upbringing by his parents. If that is so, failure to mention that, "of course", I don't, would make me sound like an obsequious fan. So, damned if you do, damned if you don't, so I I chose making a comment about how much I admire his parents' childrearing, and that they raised mostly decent, polite kids. If Ron wanted to be mean to me about it, let him handle it, maybe? Unless you're him, in which case, nevermind. I'd still admire his parents', but Hollywood would clearly have had its way with him.
I grew up watching Andy Griffith and Gentle Ben. Enjoyed both actors in their other endeavors as they ( as well as my generation) grew up. I commend Rance and Jean Howard in the raising of two extraordinary, gifted and most importantly, kind and decent human beings. Of course you never know what happens behind closed doors, but I’m impressed by the Howard Family. Their book is well written and I would definitely recommend reading. Blessings to the “Boys” and their families. Thanks for being great parts of my life.🙏👍😊
Graham, nice interview. Ron and Clint are right that in the moment you never realize how much your mother/father/grandparents mean until they're gone. I think you can't blame or regret that, you just have to believe they know how you feel, especially if the family dynamic isn't very demonstrative.
I always enjoy when Clint and Ron work together.. Clint is a great actor and around it all they're lives. We want Hollywood to do good with all it's actors 👏
Ron, as Opie was golden and heartwarming. I still watch old episodes and they make me feel so GOOD!! Although some make me cry too. The whole dynamic was so pure and had a moral compass!! RIP Andy Taylor aka Andy Griffith. And Clint is etched in there too!! He was everywhere....and so damn sweet & precious!! I love you ALL.
Ron And Clint have been there my whole life, starting with The Andy Griffith Show and Gentle Ben. Have always loved each and followed their careers. They seem like genuine people.
Ron Howard, your mom knew how you felt. If I can hear the love in your voice I know your mom could hear and feel it, what a lovely tribute. This is why your movies are a hit!❤
My mother was a rare flower in a desert! Whenever I would get frustrated with her she had a saying that I wanna share with everyone. She would say son it’s very difficult to raise your parents!
First time I watch this RUclips station. Great interviewer, Ron Howard is one of my favorites, grew up with him. Just think he’s the kindest man family first.❤❤ and his dad and mom and brother Clint you never hear anything bad written about them. Great interview Graham.
I could relate to Ron in what he said about the emotions in the audio recording of his book. I write poetry and I wrote a poem about my high school sweetheart who died of hypothermia less than a year after we graduated. That and a some other poems that I I wrote also bring on the tears not just for me but those who are listening to my performance. Thank you for the video.
Well, these two brothers’ regrets speak to our own regrets. Those of you who still have parents, get on the phone and say hi. Do it a couple times a week too.
Ron, growing up with you was a joy for me; you were like a brother, and I modeled your behavior and mannerisms. And today when I encounter you on an interview, I just enjoy listening to you and observing you. Thank you so much for being you! And thanks to your brother and your parents as well.
Who children have in their support system makes a huge difference. My father & his two younger brothers grew up with alcoholic parents but had enough other adults in their lives, aunts, great-aunts & uncles, who were able to provide a lot of stability & attention so that he & my uncles grew up to be highly successful in their careers & marriages.
I feel this way about losing my husband. We don’t know how much our closest loved ones mean to us until they’re gone. Then wish you’d known before you lost them so you could cherish your time together more.
Love the line "recognize the wisdom of those words" ... there is lots of good ideas, wisdom, good advice out there ... but there is a skill and good quality if someone knows how to see/recognize it.
What a great interviewer! I’ve never heard him before, and he really knows how to draw the stories out of his subjects, and does not interrupt, which I hate about many interviewers
And Rance played in two episodes: The farmer who takes in Newman when mail truck breaks down, and the man who swaps glasses with George - "lady glasses". :)
This was very touching. Both Ron and Clint are so articulate, and their family life is something most of us could never even conceive of. “The Boys” is a very interesting and heartfelt love letter to their family.
Brilliant interview. Strangly, Clint was the first Howard I knew, being a fan of Gentle Ben. Then I knew Ron from Happy Days. These guys have the best brother relationship
I kind of know how the brothers both feel in some ways. I wasn't as kind and loving as a son, as I could have been and caused my mom such grief and heartache when she was alive due to my issues. I loved her very much though and since she passed away 11 years ago, I learned to cherish her more and think about my regrets. It's natural I think, to cherish your mother more, when they're no longer here with us and you get older and face your own mortality. Great interview and I give Graham Bensinger so much credit because he doesn't interrupt the person he's talking to and lets them tell their story in a calm, not rushed manner. Too many interviewers seem to like putting the focus on them, instead of where it belongs.
It just now struck me that from the interviews I’ve seen with Ron Howard he talks about his dad, he talks about his brother, he talks about Barney and Andy and Fonzie. But he seldom talks about his mother.
Probably one of the few Hollywood families that was just like the "family next door ". What a gift, and truly is reflected in the boy's work and lives.
Interesting how Clint looks so much more like his mom and Ron so much like his dad. I think Clint hit on it with the question of earnings when he said that he didn't thinik about his earnings that they just had a good family dynamic. I think that is what made both those boys such good men (Clint's personal issues aside). The were given the freedom to be themselves in spite of being the child actors. That helps one right oneself when things begin to go south. They served their family well and their family served them well.

A lot of us have been fond of Clint since he was a tiny alien meeting the crew of the Enterprise.

that whole Howard family was nothing but 100 percent class absolutely a wonderful family
