Only last week i bought these, they weren't even on my radar but i went into my local music shop, spent about an hour trying the speed cobra, pearl eliminator and various DW pedals but as soon as i tried the speed flyer i was sold. Such a solid and smooth pedal with all the adjustments you need and nothing you dont
Same here. I’m a Yamaha fan and the fp9 was not out yet and the previous model felt like toy compared to the Ludwigs. And I was coming from a trick dominator (didn’t like direct drive or the hoop clamp). I just played these for fun and was blown away! Shaft has no latency and ended up using the Gibraltar Kevlar straps. Amazing. Then the Atlas hi hat stand I looked up, and had to have as well! So cool. Love them both. All the newer Ludwig hardware went from lame to awesome.
When it came time to replace my 20 year old dw 5000 pedal, I was about to buy the single pedal version of the speed flyer until I found an offer I couldn't refuse on the iron cobra 900 (and I love it)... but these new ludwig pedals really do have some mojo. When I pick up a double pedal, it'll absolutely be a speed flyer. We drummers can get a little religious about our gear sometimes, but if you have the opportunity to play one of these, give it a try. Way better feel than the DW5000 IMHO.
Thanks for your comment @ThomasJenkins-ji1dx - as we're a UK-based channel, it's Aluminium. If you google the correct spelling / pronunciation: "In American English, this element is called aluminum, while in British English it's more commonly referred to as aluminium. The two names refer to the same chemical element. In scientific writing and academia, both aluminum and aluminium are commonly used and considered correct names", so not a 'Flippin Twit' just using the correct language for the region we're based!!
AS per the OP response, the element was named by its inventor Sir Humphrey Davey back in 1807 using the current American spelling, but was re-named by him in 1812 to reflect other elements whose names ended in 'ium'. Americans have chosen to retain the original spelling whilst the rest of the world has chosen to move forward with the later spelling. A bit like the American's retention of imperial units of measurement while the rest of the world has gone metric! Vivre la difference!

Fantastic review, as always!
Another great review! All the talk about stability - that matters when you play. The pedal seems good.

Nice sounding snare at the beginning.
Good review !
I wish you could also include the price in dollars for us on this side of the pond.
$535. I see them on Reverb for $500 daily.
😆
I'll stick to my speed cobra. Good review though!
am not even close to thinking about a double pedal but why not
Only problem I have is you can’t adjust the beater angle independently from the footboard angle.
you can, just like Tama pedals... still would never buy these
Hey Buddy it is spelled ALUMINUM not aLuMInIUm. Flippin Twit.
