I was thinking about switching to AGNP too. It was bc I know I don't want to work with kids or do Women's Health/OBGYN, so I didn't really want to go through a whole class on something I won't ever use. However, you do NOT necessarily have to ever work with any specialty/population you don't want to work with. You can still work in a SNF with an FNP. I'm trying to stay on the FNP just to appeal to the job market though. It's just hard to find a Pediatric preceptor 🤦🏾♀️ but I have preceptors lined up for my other classes.
yes thank you for this! I spoke with my preceptor and she stated the same thing- that FNPs can still work in geriatric settings. FNP is definitely a broader license which is why I like it. & I'm about to start reaching out for a peds preceptor, good luck to both of us 😅
Yeah, i'm half way through my program also and was thinking the same thing. As an FNP you're trained and able to care for womens health and pediatric population if you want to. But you're definitely qualified to work with geriatrics as well (which is where I ultimately will end up). This is different from ACGNPs they work with adults and are primarily seen in an inpatient setting.
Congrats! You are such an inspiration! 💕 I’ll be enrolling in NP school in the near future as well, God willing. 💕🙏
thank you! good luck to you!! ☺️
Love a good vision board! Really awesome video. You're helping future nurses for sure! So proud of you! :)

How did you find your practicum sites?
our school has a list of clinic sites but I still have to reach out to multiple practices via email or phone to secure a site
