    Hey bro, nice review! I want to go for ambition 1 litre TSI manual, I am an enthusiast but with family needs thats all my budget can afford for now...i will be driving 60% in city and 40% on highways for long journeys to mountains with 3-4 ppl.. would you recommend 1 litre TSI manual variant or should I go with Creta?

    • @JRSCars
      @JRSCars  3 года назад +4

      Thanks buddy! Okay, I've not driven the 1.0 MT yet, but to be very honest, I felt the 1.0 AT to be quite lethargic with 4 ppl + AC on the highway above 100. In the City and upto 80, all is good, but beyond that, you really have to rev it to get a move on. Best is to take a test drive of both and make a decision, the Creta is good, but since u do a lot of highway driving, Kushaq is a stronger n safer vehicle... So take a test drive of both with 4 passengers and take a call :-)

    Hi @JRS Cars, I have been driving my maruti 800 since 2014 and finally decided to upgrade my car for the comfort of my family :) . Seltos is out of the question since I did not like it so much. The highway feel of the Creta 1.5 diesel was great but the driving dynamics on smaller roads was really pathetic. I drove the 1.0 LTR kushaq, but found out that it was underpowered. The guys at Tafe Access Skoda did not have the 1.5LTR version for testing. So I test drove the Octavia just to feel the DSG gearbox/2.0 LTR engine and was immediately exhilarated by the sheer power and the gear change speed while driving . The Sales person says the 1.5LTR engine on Kushaq (from their experience of karoq) is really good (not as good as octavia) but I will really like it since I enjoy driving a lot.
    I instantly booked the DSG edition but later realized that they had not given it the 6 airbags. Although the 1.5 manual has the 6 airbags and TPMS I am not sure if they can match the feel of the DSG gearbox. What do you think ?
    Some of the considerations are I live in a mid-size town with no city-like traffic but a place with very bad roads and a lots of speed breakers everywhere. There's also road where there are 27-speed breakers in a span of 30 kms. (I know it is hilarious). Also, my left knee has an injury because of a previous motorbike accident because of which clutch pressing on longer journeys could be hard.
    So my question to you would be that am I compromising a lot (in terms of safety) by going for the 1.5 DSG edition? Will I also be compromising on the driving fun if I get the 1.5 DSG? Or is the manual more fun? I know you recommended MT for non city buyers but at this moment I am very confused.
    Let me know what you think.
    Thanks!

    • @JRSCars
      @JRSCars  3 года назад +1

      Hey man! That's a detailed comment!
      In a word, go for the 1.5TSI DSG - personally 2 airbags are more than enough (if you are a safe driver) so you can go for it. However, if its a big issues, then suggest you wait for the Taigun launch - if you are very keen on the airbags (Taigun should have more variants I assume)
      Also, go for the automatic itself, the 1.0 AT is a bit sluggish at highway speeds so the 1.5TSI is the way to (I've not driven it yet, but I'm sure it'll be good)
      Another option is to look for a used Karoq / T-roc if it fits your budget. You can feel free to message me on Instagram if you want to discuss more in detail :-)

    • @sriniprabhu

      @@JRSCars Hey man! Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. I appreciate it
      I think I will go for the 1.5 DSG Kushaq. A dealer from VW told me that the top end Taigun with 6 airbags is gonna cost around 24Lakh On road in Karnataka (Yes, because of 20% road taxes here). So, maybe its not worth stretching all that budget. used Karoq / T-roc seem to be all heavily priced. A lot of them on OLX are still priced way above the top end kushaq/taigun.

    • @JRSCars
      @JRSCars  3 года назад +2

      24L is too much. Makes the Karoq seem VFM now😂😂
      Alright buddy, so the 1.5TSI DSG Kushaq seems to be the best option.

    Wonderful review. I test drove the Kushaq and Taigun 1.0tsi manual.
    My impressions was that this engine has a lot of turbo lag below 2000rpm. City drive ability was not good. The automatic may mask this turbo lag
    Second observation was the clutch bite point. It’s quite late in the release - almost at 90% release

    I have taken the test drive of 1.0 litre style kushaq, and I totally loved it, but I want to buy style 1.0 automatic ,
    Is it worth to spend 1.20 lacs for the automatic & amt doesn't have 6 airbags & TPMS ??
    Which is better 1.0 style manual or amt?

    • @JRSCars
      @JRSCars  3 года назад +2

      Firstly, it is not amt. It is a torque converter automatic. I've made a video on types of automatic transmissions, please do check it out.
      It depends on what kind of driving you will do, if you have a 90% city commute, then go with the automatic, else manual is good enough.
      TPMS and number of airbags are not big enough factors, according to me, to influence a buying decision.
      Example: you can have 10 airbags in the car, but if the body is not strong, you will face serious injury as against a vehicle with just 2 airbags and a strong body structure.

      @@JRSCarsLol , if air bags are not imp ,then why does Skoda provide them in the Mannual variants which are cheaper compared to AT,What sense does it make?? So does it mean the Mannual variants are not build well so 6 Air bags ,but the AT variants are more strong ,so just 2 Airbags are enough???Just build quality alone cant save the rear passengers during a crash,build quality cant be a substitute for reduction of air bags.For 1 litre AT Style 19lkhs is the on road price in kerala ,which way expensive for a 1litre engine.Regarding TPMS any customer ll expect it at this price point cuz its rivals are offering them & much more features .

    • @JRSCars
      @JRSCars  3 года назад +3

      Brother, I said there that, number of airbags is not an important criteria, according to me. If airbags are important to you, so be it.
      Yes, 19L is expensive for what it is, if you can afford it, buy it, else settle for a lower variant or a Korean car.
      Also, why the MT has 6 airbags and the AT has 2 is because of costs. Already the AT is ~₹1.2L more than MT, if the AT was to have 6 airbags, it'll be more than 20L on road - then you will say its 'highly' overpriced, instead of 'just' overpriced
      Another logic is AT will be driven majorly in the city, where 2 airbags are more than enough.
      Again, these are my thoughts only.

      However, for safety - Skoda is the best no doubt - stronger body shell which increases safety. In other comments I've also mentioned that number of airbags doesn't really matter, if body is not strong.
      Design is personal preference - I like Seltos, Kushaq, Creta - in that order
      Features: Seltos / Creta have a lot more features, but you need to ask yourself if you really need all those features and how often will you actually use them.

    Bro you are saying that people who prefer safety should go with Kushaq but even the top end 1.5 tsi has only 2 airbags whereas both Creta and Seltos has 6 airbags at their top model!! Atleast Skoda should have priced it lesser. Also the absence of iconic tdi engine is a big miss. I don’t know wether this car will really succeed as much as Koreans :/

      Bro, airbags is one level of safety. The body shell strength is more important than airbags according to me.
      Example: if the car is gonna split or deform badly on impact, airbags are of no use.

    This looks like a paid review for Skoda :) If you are upgrading from Rapid, then this is not the right vehicle as it lacks the fit and finish of Rapid in many ways. I have test driven Kushaq and have seen it in flesh. As a Octavia owner, Kushaq feels a downer in terms of cabin quality for sure, considering the price they charge for this. Driving dynamics and handling are the USPs of this vehicle and new design language complements this. The vehicle does not have a road presence and can easily get lost in the crowd. Reverse camera resolution feels really cheap and after market without adaptive guidelines and more importantly the top end AT missing on 6 airbags is not acceptable at all. Absence of a diesel engine will hurt VAG as Turbo petrols are fun to drive, but will leave a hole in your pocket with poor fuel economy, considering the ever increasing fuel prices :) After the initial hype and excitement, this can settle between 1500-2000 units on a monthly basis, but remember there are more vehicles planned to hit the segment down the line will make life difficult for this. They could have introduced this at a more competitive prices or else should have upped the quality with more premium pricing, considering the fact that they took 2 sweet years in building 2.0 project for India. Cannot comment on the safety of the vehicle till the NCAP rating is released, but hopefully should not go as below as the Koreans who have miserably failed in that area.

    • @JRSCars
      @JRSCars  3 года назад +2

      Haha, it's not paid bro. I've only spent money in getting this review done. If you have been a follower of the channel, you would know that the video was 'under review' by Skoda for over a week - if you notice keenly you can see cuts and breaks, where things have been edited out.
      As a growing RUclipsr, sometimes I have to tone down what I say in order to secure future vehicles for review. Hope you understand this.
      That being said, personally this vehicle is much safer and dynamically more accomplished than the competition. I believe I've touched on this vehicles positives and if you watched this video fully, you would know that I've given a pretty honest opinion and not praised it's shortcomings :)
      So calling it a 'paid review' without watching it fully, is not good on your part buddy - most RUclipsrs get cars from dealerships, unlike Autocar/Faisal, etc, who get cars from the manufacturer for review.

      @@JRSCars I did comment on this after fully watching this video right from where you started and where you completed brother :) No offence meant as my only gripe was you did not mention the glaring pit falls of the vehicle during the review made me think that way :) I do appreciate you took time and effort to review this, and also understand that you have your limits of what all you can tell and what not to procure future reviews.

      Yep. Truth be told, the absence of the virtual cockpit, the panoramic sunroof, the sluggish-ness of the 1.0TSI on the highway and the pricing were mentioned originally - all had to be edited out by their request.
      Personally, I prefer reviewing used cars, so that I can give you all my un-filtered options, but everyone is not interested in watching me review a 5 year old VW, as against a hot new car. But, I guess its all in the game :-)

      @@raghvenk I’m happy you brought out why this review is the way it is. I had the same opinion that this is neither an upgrade from rapid, nor a peer to creta. It can be compared with SCross as a 4 seat alternative with an enormous price delta. Coming next is another comedy show of Taigun, which is being shown to have Audi level cockpit (lol) and seltos killer.

    The biggest myth you didn’t debunk was it’s a European make. Answer to that is a big No. you are asking why plastics quality master. It matters if they positioned it as a European build car. Why should ppl buy this instead of creta, which also has plastics but is rightly priced at least.

    • @JRSCars
      @JRSCars  3 года назад +1

      Is the Kushaq sold in Europe? No. So you cannot expect a European product at Indian pricing. An amazing build quality, fantastic features, 150 bhp, etc,. all at ₹15 lakhs, is just wishful thinking.
      If you wanna blame someone, blame the Centre for their ridiculous taxes.
      Now against the competition, yes, Creta and Seltos are better value - feature wise, however, also know that in a crash, you have higher chances of surviving (or lesser injuries atleast) if you crash in a Kushaq, as compared to a Creta or Seltos. So choose wisely
