Virtual Boy came in during the SNES, Gameboy, and N64 era, so it wasn't like they were banking ONLY on it. WiiU had the backing of the 3DS as well, which was doing gangbusters. Nintendo is a 100+ year old company. They know how to business. And you do have to hand it to them, they innovate, they challenge themselves, they aren't afraid of doing new things. People do have a right to protect their products, don't they? I've been a Nintendo guy since the NES. They... they are always creating, always doing great. You got Banjo-Kazooie 1, GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, Blast Corps, Donkey Kong Country (which isn't even ON Rare Replay), and maybe Conker (haven't played it). Those are all great. Everything else is okay to bad. Jet Force Gemini has horrendous controls and feels bad to play, Banjo-Tooie is tedious and a prime example of "Bigger Does Not Equal Better," BattleToads is actually one of the worst games I've ever played and is nothing but trial-and-error muscle memory, and Starfox Adventures... well, it wasn't awful, but it wasn't good, either (and it's also not in Rare Replay).
Saturn had one very glaring flaw. Sega bailed when they were given the chance to go toe to toe on the first battle between first 3D Mario game and first 3D Sonic game.
At least we can use them as emulation power houses now. No need spending several grand for oc when after a hundred bucks you get thousands of games for free.

Well japan now has a monopoly on console hardware but MS has it on PC OS (mostly) so I guess it's balanced? I would've preffered the hardware survive here too but I doubt it'll effect the quality of future console hardware too much. Sony could get lazy with no competition now except they were beating xbox there anyway so keeping it up is probably what they'll keep doing out of pride. They seriously could cut corners though now. Sony and Nintendo existed before them, and I never really saw Xbox as much for competition anyway because Sony always had the good exclusives, even with the PS3 failing against the 360 I can acknowledge it had games I was more interested in lol I like Bethesda but there was no way a new IP Starfield was going to sell consoles vs something like the next Elder Scrolls game. The only Xbox console I own is the original one because it actually has some gems on it.

Used to love Xbox but after the 360 era they have mostly missed on everything they’ve done. If I remember correctly wii u played 1080 resolution meanwhile Switch has 720 undocked, 1080 docked. Am I correct? Anyways however the wii u had far much more care. The concept of the switch really carried it. But it lacks so much of that nintendo charm. You do realize both consoles rock the same hardware right. Micrsoft as a game company sucks but xbox series x and ps5 are the same device with different games. Also ps5 run hotter keep your toaster. haptic feedback sucks too on sonys controllers nobody wants a trigger with a hard tactile bump that makes it harder to squeeze and potentially throw off your shots in fps games.

Yeah, it's only a matter of time until Microsoft get's gamepass onto playstation and nintendo, once that happens, there's really no reason for them to make another console. They've never been strong in console sales and consistently lose money each generation, to where they're only releasing consoles out of necessity for the xbox portion of the company, but Gamepass sort of negates the console aspect of that.

Xbox is an offshoot of its own customer base, its pc crowd cannabalize its own console base. If you want a console, theres only 1 place to play PS exclusives.
well Nintendo & Sony have always delivered great exclusives. Xbox has all ways been weird with that, Halo games should have a high caliber studio not a bad one.
honestly consoles in general are dying, with more exclusives from sony and microsoft coming to PC, what makes a console special anymore? we can build a console like PC for the same price as one nowadays, the only console i'm still using is Switch cause Nintendo refuses to port most their games to anything else, and emulation only gives you 50% of the experience, example, i'm a pokemon fan and if i emulate pokemon i can forget pokemon home, entering in person tournaments, gift events, ect
See Xbox could have alievated some of these issues had they focused on having something worthwile on their consoles last generation while still releasing stuff on other platforms. Focus on quality rather than trying do big games or chasing trends. Yeah still release Forza and some third party stuff and slowly build your reputation and trust back. Now Playstation will get lazier at making games and still get praised for meeting bare minimum. Competition breeds creativity. I wouldnt mind waiting 2 years for Halo or some other game to release on PC or PS if it meant Sony would be pushed to innovate.

Nintendo have also set themselves up so that they're not directly competing with their rivals. The Switch is underpowered but also a handheld hybrid, while PlayStation and Xbox (which ARE direct competitors) are stationary but powerful. So there's a reason to own both, even before you take exclusives into account.

Well japan now has a monopoly on console hardware but MS has it on PC OS (mostly) so I guess it's balanced? I would've preffered the hardware survive here too but I doubt it'll effect the quality of future console hardware too much. Sony could get lazy with no competition now except they were beating xbox there anyway so keeping it up is probably what they'll keep doing out of pride.

Sony and Nintendo existed before them, and I never really saw Xbox as much for competition anyway because Sony always had the good exclusives, even with the PS3 failing against the 360 I can acknowledge it had games I was more interested in lol
I like Bethesda but there was no way a new IP Starfield was going to sell consoles vs something like the next Elder Scrolls game. The only Xbox console I own is the original one because it actually has some gems on it.

Used to love Xbox but after the 360 era they have mostly missed on everything they’ve done. PlayStation and Nintendo aren’t perfect but they definitely have a better hit ratio then Xbox which has been trailing behind for a while now. Nobody wants a series x it has that Wii U problem where nobody knows what the hell it is. And now with game pass being everywhere and moving exclusives to other consoles they are guaranteed to fail. If I remember correctly wii u played 1080 resolution meanwhile Switch has 720 undocked, 1080 docked. Am I correct? Anyways however the wii u had far much more care. The concept of the switch really carried it. But it lacks so much of that nintendo charm. I still prefer the switch but for the love of god where is the music, the themes, the presentation, NO CONTROLLER DRIFT. that's all missing.

You do realize both consoles rock the same hardware right. Micrsoft as a game company sucks but xbox series x and ps5 are the same device with different games. Also ps5 run hotter keep your toaster. haptic feedback sucks too on sonys controllers nobody wants a trigger with a hard tactile bump that makes it harder to squeeze and potentially throw off your shots in fps games.

Yeah, it's only a matter of time until Microsoft get's gamepass onto playstation and nintendo, once that happens, there's really no reason for them to make another console. They've never been strong in console sales and consistently lose money each generation, to where they're only releasing consoles out of necessity for the xbox portion of the company, but Gamepass sort of negates the console aspect of that.

honestly consoles in general are dying, with more exclusives from sony and microsoft coming to PC, what makes a console special anymore? we can build a console like PC for the same price as one nowadays, the only console i'm still using is Switch cause Nintendo refuses to port most their games to anything else, and emulation only gives you 50% of the experience, example, i'm a pokemon fan and if i emulate pokemon i can forget pokemon home, entering in person tournaments, gift events, ect

See Xbox could have alievated some of these issues had they focused on having something worthwile on their consoles last generation while still releasing stuff on other platforms. Focus on quality rather than trying do big games or chasing trends. Yeah still release Forza and some third party stuff and slowly build your reputation and trust back.
Now Playstation will get lazier at making games and still get praised for meeting bare minimum. Competition breeds creativity. I wouldnt mind waiting 2 years for Halo or some other game to release on PC or PS if it meant Sony would be pushed to innovate.

Nintendo have also set themselves up so that they're not directly competing with their rivals. The Switch is underpowered but also a handheld hybrid, while PlayStation and Xbox (which ARE direct competitors) are stationary but powerful. So there's a reason to own both, even before you take exclusives into account.
