Even though Andre and Vince weren't speaking at the time, i really don't think Andre did this appearance out of revenge. He wanted to be able to continue to work for as long as he could. Plus Andre was friends with some of the people involved in the event, including Dusty and Bruno.

j.d. Hogg Undertaker has been a top level superstar for over 25 years. Has the best streak in Wrestlemania history and the best gimmick of all time. Moreover he's been involved in some of the greatest matches of all time such as the one against Shawn Michaels and the KOTR one with Mankind. Andre is a legend but he had very little wrestling ability and all of his fame was based simply on his size and appearance.

    • @scvbtr2
      @scvbtr2 8 лет назад +4

MMAfan Well I agree with ninety nine percent of your post. But remember Andre the giant wrestled in front of more then 93,00 fans at WM-3. And he was the reason they were there. Andre was approx 2" taller then Taker. but he was 300 pounds heavier! All these reasons are why I say Andre the giant was the greatest big man ever. I grew up watching Andre, so maybe I'm biased. I enjoyed watching Taker as a bad guy with Paul Bearer. Andre was a true Giant!

At the end of the day, Andre is a “wcw guy” through and through, I’m not surprised Vince never mentions him, much like Benoit. I guess you can say this is the equivalent of the Benoit murder/suicide for Vince. Andre will never be mentioned on WWE TV again, as long as Vince McMahon is alive. Moreover, he was recently stripped of his Hall of Fame status after this video leaked. Vince then angrily yelled at his family over the phone for days - presumably to curse them so that they never live a prosperous life. Andres ex wife told a AEW official that if Andre was still alive, he would have killed Vince McMahon at this point due to Vince and Andres supposedly falling out before his controversial WCW appearance which led to Vince supposedly putting a hit on Andres toddler. Vince SR once said “you can’t trust Andre, the moment you think he’s a WWE guy, he’ll switch sides, and end up in TNA or AEW. I hope you see this, son, because he will leave and at the end of the day, he’ll be a WCW guy….4 life.”

By the start of the start of the 80s he was 7'4", and comparing relative heights on a TV screen isn't as easy as you think. Believe me, you had to stand next to the man. Andre was a man who if he didnt like somebody would work stiff . If he didnt like Cena he would have sandbagged him instead of letting him slam him . And he would beat the crap out of Cena . Wrestler back then worked very stiff all the time . Hulk Hogan ( A bigger and Probably stronger man than Cena ) , told stories of how he used to pull his car to the side of the road got out and puked in fear because he had to face Andre that night . He told how Andre would beat the crap out of him .

@judeskii Ditto with the Big Show (Paul Wight), but he had the gene removed. BTW, he went to school his junior and senior year in proximity to where I live; W.W. King Academy between Batesburg and Saluda, SC. I saw a 1990 yearbook and he was huge then. He came to the Halloween Party dressed as Frankenstein and the kids loved him.

Very cool to see Bruno and Andre in WCW. I know people think of Andre as a WWF guy, especially since WWF did a good job erasing it's pre-1984 history. But Andre technically really wasn't a WWF guy. It was just his home base, where he was allowed to go out and tour the country and make stops in just about all the major territories, even after the 1984 national expansion. Andre certainly had a Georgia history. Great to see Bruno. He also was a special ref at a rare WCW show in NYC around '93.

Andre was just a novelty in other wrestling organizations. It was Vince who made him a star.

@DTMTroy In July 1977, T-Bolt and Andre wrestled the Anderson Brothers (Gene & Ole) for the NWA World Tag Team Belts in The Omni. Things broke down as usual and Cowboy Bill Watts did a run in and hit The Andersons with a 2X4. The belts were briefly held up, but were returned to The Andersons.

Gordon Solie and Andre the Giant will forever be LEGENDS!
    God Bless Them Both, R.I.P.
and I didn't care too much for Missy Hyatt, b/c she was too much of a drama queen off camera in WCW!

I read in WWE's book about Andre about this. Vince was very hurt by Andre's cameo. But in Andre's defense, he didn't do it out of maliciousness. He went to visit and hang out with his fellow wrestlers. More than likely Tony Schiavone approached him before they went on camera for a quick word and Andre probably agreed. Much more damning to Vince was Bruno's endorsement of WCW's product AND his dismissal of WWF/E ( the latter made the former look insincere, IMHO).

I bet Bruno Sammartino would've said the exact opposite things about WCW 6-7 years later in 1999. ;*P

Bruno was such a dogooder about steroids and PEDs. He stopped talking to David for years after he found out David had done them.

He was probably around 7'1" or 7'2" in the 70s... but the older he got, his body started to curl up so it made him look much shorter.

Yes. If you look at his matches from the 70s, he was clearly 7 ft tall, maybe 7ft 1. Then by 84 he was as already curving over down to about 6ft 10 - 11 till he died. R.I.P Andre.

You're clearly missing out on Andre's more youthful years, back when he had no trouble moving around and could throw Gorilla Monsoon like a sack of potatoes. Andre was 7 feet when he was younger, before back surgery, and even later if you factor in that he never quite stood up very straight.
    Undertaker is very impressive though.

Funny because people always knocked Bruno for being grumpy and stuck in the past. Yet he was actually ahead of his time. Because now the fans all hate pro wrestling in 2011 and agree with him! even if they barely know him.

That was probably Wrestlemania VII or so. He was on crutches mainly to sell a beating from Earthquake, but he was certainly having a legit hard time getting around by that point as well.
