Hey guys I just want to say thank you for the videos and more importantly the way you do them. I've noticed on the internet especially backpacking and camping becomes more about the gear you're using and the clever new gadgets. You remind people what it's really about: the experience. The friendship, the nature, and the fun experiences which always accompany any backpacking trip.
+asthmaticrhino Thanks so much for your kind words! We definitely wanted to focus on those experiences and the philosophy and interactions when we started the show, so it means a lot that you said that :) Thank you for watching! Cheers :) -Andrew
Well said on the "Why would you camp in the winter?" speech Bryan. Sometimes we set out to camp in harsh conditions just to have a chance to actually use our gear and tools to maintain the good time. Very rewarding and gratifying to come away from a harsh camp with a smile.
Ahhhh, my mom, a 94 year old ohio gal, now in calif, is ENJOYING THIS with me by chat, i am displaced into mich.🙃🙂...we are outdoors gals...we love you.. we loved your Christmas here..god bless and thank you!!! Prayers to keep you all safe🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏
As always A+. Your camera work and editing is top notch. However what I feel really sets you guys apart from the rest is your narration. You have the ability to really capture is words the emotions ones feels while being in the great outdoors and you do a phenomenal job of relaying those to others. Keep doing what you are doing.
Thank you so much! This is very humbling. Glad you like the narration - I'm always wondering if it's too much or if it isn't worded well enough. Thanks so much. --Andrew
Man oh man.......best one yet fellas. You guys dont make it about the gear, or the miles racked up but rather embracing the pure joy of the adventure. Bryan summed it up perfectly when explaining why one would choose to put themselves out in the backwoods at all, let alone in the winter far away from our creature comforts that we have all so engrained into our daily existence. It is about embracing the art of the possible, that heightens our spirit in facing the daily grind and widens our perspective on what simple problems we give way too much power to. Also, props to you guys for making relevant references to Thoreau and Costanza! Very inspiring! Please keep em coming guys.
BuckeyeHiker So glad you liked the video!! And absolutely - gear will only get you so far, and it will only make you so happy. I think the reason all of us (including the three of us often times) can obsess about gear is because it's sort of a replacement for being outside when we're stuck inside or cooped up at a job. Haha, and thanks so much! Glad you caught the seinfeld reference too. Thanks again! --Andrew
Lmao, you guys are crazy to get in that water. Somewhere between your philosophical nature talks and your wiener jokes you guys hit greatness. You gentlemen should be proud.
"Maybe we should be mad at our jobs, for making us late to our families." If I wasn't already subbed, I would have just for that. I had a job like that for 6 years. One day I quit, and even with less money, I've never been happier. My 3 yr old and I went skipping rocks at the river today, got caught in a rainstorm, hid in a farmshed, and she was laughing the whole time. You can't buy that. Thanks guys
Sir Dan - we can't directly respond to your comment for some reason, but thank you for watching, and glad you liked it! Maybe we'll find each other hiking around at some metro or state park, haha.
I love AlfieAesthetics. He doesn't seem to make much content anymore. I learned how to get unlost using the night sky by this guy. He's awesome. Do you know alfie or just watch his channel? He has my subscription.
Using words comes up short........on how much I enjoyed watching this video. I've only visited Dolly Sods once and you gave me an opportunity to visit again, in a very unique way.. Thank you!
***** Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the video and that it felt like visiting Dolly Sods again. It is a beautiful place. Thanks for watching! --Andrew
Hi, just a quick little trick you probably know about. Use a soda straw to blow on the hot coals. Really puts the wind right where you want it and like a jet stream, doesn't take much. I watch all your vids, they are GREAT.
Thanks for the tip! And thank you for watching :) Actually, we recently got this metal tube thing that extends like a telescope that's specifically for blowing on the coals, and we try it in our upcoming episode, haha. Not quite as lightweight as a straw, though! Cheers -Andrew
Discovered you guys from a friend, and this has been so good to watch during all that's happening in the world. Thank you for sharing your journey's in nature with all of us!
You guys are awesome making the highest quality videos on RUclips I'm old now but I have hiked Dolly Sods many times when I was your guys age. I used to live in Ohio but now live in the Smokey mountains of Tennessee I plan on going out on some easy overnighter because you guys inspired me to get off my ass and get back into the woods at 60 years old! Thanks!
The most enjoyment I have seen in a trail / bushcraft video. I would of happily paid money to see this in the cinema. Well done guys , I look forward to more. Thanks ***** for linking me to you guys. ATB Jason.
We recommend you watch this with Headphones and in HD if you can! Also, for maximum enjoyment, please check out the original Dolly Sods first - there are some musical and cinematic references to that.
Such a nice video, I somehow especially liked the dining moments! Just like some hobbits from Middle Earth enjoying a good meal no matter where they go, haha :)
Haha that bacon was pretty amazing. That wood line is actually from a guy called AlfieAesthetics. Check this dude out. He is hilarious, and he knows his stuff. One of our favorites.
Strange how certain moments can take us back in time, to a place that we have stored in our memories for years. The scene with the three of you, cooking around your fire, with silent night playing in the background, did just that. Our small band of Marine's were settled in one Christmas eve, on a particularly quite night, in Vietnam. It was raining, so we sat huddled under our shelter halves, cooking our c-rats, and quietly sang, silent night. Keep doing what you're doing, just the way your doing it. Stay safe. Happy trails.
96MatthewReynolds96 Haha, thank you so much man! Wouldn't that be something? Thanks again, and we will definitely keep em coming! We just filmed another a week ago, and it'll be up by the end of April! -Andrew
Nice follow up to your other Dolly Sods video. The winter bathing section is funny. I think I'd have a heart attack though. This area has always fascinated me since it is largest example of boreal bogland that far south, and therefore is home to many northern plants. Orchids are my greatest interest, and I'm confident the area is crawling with them.
Kudos to you guys for another great movie! Big thumbs up for lugging rails and glide cams and winter skinny dipping. I watched rewild university's video on cold acclimatisation and I think there's some great wisdom there. The additional video equipment definitely lent to another great video! So happy season 2 has started.
Yew Seng Cheong Thanks so much! Haha, the slider rail bag had a shoulder strap, but it actually broke about twenty minutes into the trip. Yes, we love ReWildUniversity's wisdom and philosophy. And Kenton's cold acclimatization videos are awesome. Cold showers have actually really helped me when I need to get a good day started. Thanks again for watching!
Cool video fellas. I love Dolly Sods and recognize some of the spots you visited. +1 for the Costco green sweater (I think I have the same one). I only took canned octopus and oysters on a backpacking trip once (enough said). Dolly Sods is the first (but not last) place I got temporarily geospacially disoriented (lost) while backpacking and had to use some reckoning, map and compass skills to get reoriented. Some of the trail junctions at Red Creek are easy to miss, amiright!
FloydofOz Haha nice! My mom shops at costco all the time. Actually, those pants I'm wearing are from there too, haha. I actually took canned oysters to our most recent trip, but never ended up eating them, so it won't be in the next episode unfortunately. Luckily all of our trails were fairly easy, but I can easily see getting lost. I'd like to do an off-trail trip at Dolly Sods sometime. Thanks for watching! --Andrew
Love being out in winter! There is almost nobody else out and there is something special about that heavy winter air in the morning plus the fire gets even more appealing and essentiel quality :)
Great sentimental Christmas episode! I've watched it several times. It rekindles past memories of backpacking during my single years. Great scenery, music, and philosophy...
This Episode and the Nordhouse Winter episode really evoke strong feelings for me. I think its definitely because those trips are associated with Holidays (christmas and new years) I really enjoy rewatching them. ~Bry
I gaze out my window and smile at the newly budding trees just beyond the deck. My attention moves gently back to the lads of Adventure Archives, steadfastly crunching through a cold, icy wilderness. 20... 30... 40 minutes pass. After all, time is meaningless. I let my eyes wander back to the window. The same window as before. The budding trees are now obscured by sideways snow. My peaceful smile slowly, painfully contorts into a dead-eyed sneer. This is Minnesota. And it is April.
parsnip parsley Thanks so much! That's actually very much what we were going for when we started our videos, so it's great to hear you say that. Thanks again, and thanks for you watching! --Andrew
The stars never seize to amaze us when we're camping! And we got lucky with the way the clouds were drifting by that night :) Thanks so much for watching! -Andrew
shaddais2 Indeed! how'd your trip go? We've been there only twice, but it's hard for us to decide if we like the summer or winter better. Thanks so much for watching! --Andrew
@adventurearchives - The trip went well! We did a 10 mile loop one day, and a 4 mile hike the next. We also had trouble starting a fire, since most of the wood was really wet (not to mention the area is really picked over as far as firewood goes). I subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching your new videos!
Sugarfree bacon... had never heard of so I checked all varieties found here in Sweden, NONE contained any sugars. They have meat, salt, conservation and added smoke flavor. But also, we wouldn’t put sugars on popcorn and we eat licorice and anjovis. You might like it here 😁
Great video! I just happened upon your channel and really enjoyed everyone's work on this project. I live in WV and often camp at Dolly Sods. Beautiful place with so much variety in landscape. There are several "hidden gems" (camping sites) that I think you guys would really enjoy. If we ever meet up there I would be happy to share them with you. Thanks again for a great video!
Greg E Thanks so much! I went back a third time recently just for an overnighter and came in from the west side this time. I hiked on the Rocky Ridge trail as well. Lots of very cool campsites, either nestled away in the forests, or high up on big open hills. It would actually be really cool to do some sort of meet up at Dolly Sods. We'll let you know if we head back there sometime. Thanks for watching!! -Andrew
+mike alwill We've always wanted to do cross country ski camping! But some things are better left to people who know what they're doing... although it would make for some good entertainment to watch us trying to figure it out. lol
There is a place at the base of Dolly Sodds called White Grass. They rent all types of cross country skis. The property used to be an old downhill ski lodge. I think the state or federal govt now own the land. White Grass runs the cross country ski rentals/passes in winter. There is a state run campground with hot showers in the winter nearby. One can also use the hotels hot tub, indoor pool, and sauna for a small fee while camping.
I think you've inspired me to try winter camping...glad to see you guys back for a second season! Been watching since your first Dolly Sods episode back in the day.
Mike Musto Awesome! Thanks a bunch for watching. Always cool to meet people who watched it when it first started. Yeah, unfortunately the second season is progressing slower than we'd like, but we will have a new episode coming out on August 10th! As for winter camping, it's definitely a great time. I will say that we were in temperatures hovering around 30 degrees F, but if they drop further below that, you definitely need to think hard about what sort of gear and skills you're bringing, etc. But this was definitely a great winter camping trip. Thanks for watching! -Andrew
Virginia Bradley - Can't respond directly to you for some reason, but thank you so much for watching, and we're glad you liked all those different aspects of the video!! We also noticed you (and someone with a cat picture) were some of the first commenters, haha --Andrew
Brilliant video, lads - exceptionally well edited, with some beautifully written philosophy fitted in there, too. The three of you are all really likeable and relatable, and I think that's important in these kind of videos. I lost my shit laughing at the ice river dip, by the way. I'll certainly subscribe and check out your other vids. P.S, I've never seen anyone snack on squid/octopus on a camping trip before. We all have our camping quirks, I suppose :-) Regards, Al
Thanks so much for the kind words! Haha, that river dip was hilarious. Made us feel alive. Haha, that canned octopus stuff is surprisingly tasty! Thanks so much for watching, and for checking out the videos :) -Andrew
Another great job guys! Great video and awesome location- you guys have a great chemistry and it's really fun to watch the interplay between the three of you. I am really intrigued by Dolly Sods as well and would like to get there sometime in the next year if I can find a two day chunk of free time- which I don't get much of anymore! Lol. I think it's only a 3 hour drive and seems well worth it. Thanks for sharing.
WoodsTrekka' Thanks so much for watching, and we're glad you like it! It's funny seeing how awkward we were original in front of the camera in the first dolly sods episode. And yeah, free time is unfortunately harder to come by these days. But it's definitely worth it, especially if it's only 3 hours from where you are. Even an overnighter would be a great time, I think.
Another great video Guys! I actually took the first sip of my mullein blend herbal tea just seconds before you lit your pipe, and I just had to comment on that :) I have never smoked mullein, but I do have a 7yr old Volcano vaporizer, and mullein along with basil was on the list of recommended herbs for respiratory issues. I subscribed just a couple weeks ago after watching the canoe camping video, and I really like every video of yours I have watched so far... Keep them coming guys!
***** Haha, that is awesome! How is it as tea? I haven't tried that yet. I actually know someone whose dad would have him smoke mullein as a kid when he was sick, and supposedly it worked! And yeah, the mullein's medicinal effects will be better as a tea, but it's pretty soothing to smoke believe it or not. And thanks so much for watching all the videos - glad you like them! --Andrew
It is great as a blended tea, but I have yet to try it alone as tea or smoke, sometime I will try smoking it as you guys did. Again, great series of videos, and I love the quotes you drop in each video. I would happily share a campfire and pipe with you guys any time. Keep up the great videos!
That polar plunge...lmao!! I really couldn't stop laughing and even hearing the laughter in the background kept me going! You guys have so much fun :) Love your channel! ❤
I LOVE your videos so much! One of my winter camping tips is to bring along a couple hand warmers for the night to toss in the bottom of my sleeping bag - keeps my feet warm through the night! The quality of the work is really great for your videos. Thanks for making them! Looking forward to watching many more and to getting more ideas of places to go :)
I hope you guys can continue to grow your channel!! I just recently found this channel but I love the quietness and how wholesome you all are with each other, and these are filmed like actual TV show broadcasts! Outstanding work with each of your vids ~
I found your channel last week via Black Owl Outdoors and I am really glad I did. Great editing and narrative! Watched all your videos multiple times. DON'T. STOP. MAKING. VIDEOS. You guys are pretty much my new favorite RUclips channel. Keep up the good work!
Don't worry, one hundred percent in it for the long haul. We love making these videos and are so glad people actually enjoy them. Thanks for watching and look for more good stuff to come! -Robby
+Caden Myers Yeahh, I really want to go back in the fall, and I've been wanting to do an off-trail trip. It's one of my favorite places. I know they say that there is still live ordnance from WWII there, but I'm assuming it's pretty much all cleaned up? Where did you go for your trip? Thanks so much for watching! Cheers :) -Andrew
AdventureArchives I went to Hocking College and our class went on the off-trail trip. Our professor gave us coordinates of an ordnance that a previous class found. We didn't find it so i assume someone came and got it. We went off-trail around the beaver pond i believe. Would need to show you guys a map to get the right cordinates we took.
Great video......watched today....the day after Christmas....I live in West Virginia.....it is 23 degrees out....and your swim in the water made me colder....love your adventures!
Great job fellas. Thank you so much for your hard work and sacrifices so that we can enjoy a small part of your trips as well. Blessings and stay safe!
+Sean Allen Thanks so much! Really glad you enjoy the videos, and you make any of the sacrifices we take so worth it! Thank you again, and thanks for watching :) Cheers! -Andrew
Great video guys! Seriously awesome job on the filming. It's hard to enjoy what's in front of you while filming great shots at the same time. I always find that difficult to at least evenly distribute my time to both. I love the shots where you walk past the camera about a quarter mile... Then you have to turn around and get your camera... Not sure why I always thought them to be funny when I film them. Thanks again for sharing. -Andy
Those shots require a lot of extra walking but hey just look so cool. We have a little saying "remember the greedo" that basically means take the effort to get the shot even if you don't feel like it because it'll pay off later when you're watching it and are like, man I'm glad we got that shot! Thanks for watching ;) -Robby
***** Yeah that is something I have noticed as well. The very nature of filming is that you're imagining what it'll look like on the screen in the future, so we sometimes catch ourselves and make sure we bring ourselves back to the present and enjoy what's around us in that moment. Thanks for watching! --Andrew
Jason Chasteen Thank you so much for watching! Man, that water was so cold. The sun was actually pretty warm that day, and I was feeling hot with all of the winter clothing on, so I was just like, I should jump in this river. It'd make for some good watching. It was really refreshing, but my body went numb really quickly, haha. --Andrew
DanVal Thanks so much! Glad you liked it! Every time we go out to film, we always worry about whether we've captured the feeling of being out there well enough, so it's great to hear that. Thanks again! --Andrew
Hi I found your videos when I was looking at hammock camping vidoes! I would just like to say that your videos are amazing and very well edited. You all really know how to capture somebody's attention!
+Tristan Villeneuve Thanks! I really do love my Hammock. Are you an experienced hammock camper or investigating right now? I can try my best to answer any questions you may have.
Just realized you guys had replied to my comment after re-watching a bunch of your videos. I was just looking at hammock camping videos because it looked fun and I wanted to try it out. I have only 'camped' in my hammock once but it was just in my back yard haha.
I've been watching these kinds of videos for a long time and can easily say that you guys are amongst my favorites to watch! Excellent editing and just lots of information in your videos. Can't believe I haven't subbed yet so here you go.
Ok, I was a little surprised at the river crossing scene. lol I believe i would have handled that the same way Brian did (clothes on). It was a great video, none the less. Thank you for sharing most of that.
+Jeremy Buchanan Haha no problem. In hind sight, we may have dragged that scene on a little bit too long, hahaha. Man, that was so cold. Thanks so much for watching! -Andrew
Thank you so much! That means a lot to us, and thanks for watching :) If you go to our channel, the "All Full Episodes" playlist has our best videos. Cheers!
Thanks for the very well made video guys! I'm planning on visiting the sods very soon and can't wait to get out there and take in the sights. I loved the first scene where you guys had dinner, it's impossible to describe how wonderful a well deserved meal feels out in the wilderness after hiking for hours; nothing better than that.
+koolJ Thank yuo so much! You're absolutely right - a big dinner outdoors, especially after you've built up a lot of hunger, is such a great feeling. Let us know how your trip goes - I bet it's beautiful this time of year! Thanks for watching! Cheers :) -Andrew
+AdventureArchives Hey Andrew, the trip was great! I was surprised at how much variation and unique areas there was to Dolly Sods, even after seeing your video. We did the "circumnavigation" loop that can be found online. It's a 24 or so mile loop that most of the time borders the whole wilderness and gives you a great tour and summary of what Dolly Sods has to offer. I highly recommend you guys do this loop if you ever decide to make a return trip (again), as it will refresh your experiences. We really liked the campsites along Big Stone Coal Run and at "The Forks" where two of the larger creeks meetup. It is a bigger loop than what you guys seem to usually do though, so if you are interested, definitely do it when you guys all have time to take a few days out there.
Sounds great! Did that loop take you to the Rocky Ridge Trail? I hiked that trail with a friend (after we filmed the 2 dolly sods episodes), and it was really awesome. I definitely want to go back out there sometime... Maybe for a solo hike. Cheers! -Andrew
+AdventureArchives Yes it did. From bear rocks to rocky ridge then raven ridge I believe. The view was incredible and the trail was quite sandy which I found interesting. If you continue to Big Stone Coal Run trail it descends into old pine forest and meadows, which was quite a drastic change from the ridge views. The camping sites there are some of the best in the whole wilderness. The only trail I dreaded was Dobbin Grade; very tough to walk and not marked the best. We almost got lost after the creek crossing on dobbin grade as the trail marker was knocked down and there was s clearly worn trail straight ahead that mislead us for s good half hour one way. Definitely try to go on each trail at the Sods, I feel like each one has its own unique sights and features + sets of challenges to conquer.
Ah, I htink I've hoked most of Dobbin Grade. I do recall it being a bit rougher, at least to the West if I'm not mistaken. Those campsites in the pine forests sound awesome. I kind of want to try and hike every trail out there. That's awesome you got to hike so much of it!
great video guys. this is my second time watching. I look forward to seeing your others. thanks for sharing. I'm just learning some bushcraft myself. It is very interesting to hear you discuss the different trees and plants and some of their uses.
Joe McCranie Thanks so much! Really glad you like it. After our last trip to the Smokies, I think we're planning on doing a more relaxing hike around Red River Gorge soon hopefully. Glad you like the plant/tree stuff. There's a huge wealth of bushcraft knowledge all over the internet. It's a great thing to get into. Thanks again! -Andrew
I always find myself coming back to re-watch this episode and the Yosemite. There's something so charming about winter backpacking with snow covering the ground but also about Yosemite and it's epic valley and vast mountains. I'm guessing you guys already have plans for where you're planning on going this winter but I think it would be really awesome if you returned to Yosemite this winter when there's snow on the ground. -Jason
spikybry Correct! Gerbils have furry tails, and mice don't. Also, it's a bit hard to tell from the video, but mice are smaller than gerbils, and this guy was rather small --Andrew
Excellent video - you've got yourself a new subscriber! At first I was thinking that's a lot of video gear to carry (did I see a reflector strapped on a backpack at 20:03?), but after seeing the footage you've gotten, I have to say you make it worth its weight. Also excellent editing and music - I'd be curious to know what software you use for the video editing. Finally, nice shout-out to +AlfieAesthetics. That guy cracks me up.
Thank you so much for watching, really glad you enjoy it! It was actually a white balance card, which we forget to use all the time and actually lost shortly after this video haha. We use Sony Vegas Pro for video editing, a little after effects cc for the graphics shot (for example the censoring during the swimming part), and Logic Pro X for the music as of the mammoth episode. And yeah alfie aestethetics is brilliant. I'm really curious if he writes everything ahead of time or just thinks about it before shooting. His sense of humor and timing is impeccable. -Robby
Ah so you guys are from Ohio! Me too! (Well I go to school here...) But I've only had time to do short overnighters at the local state parks, because of my crazy schedule. I really want to get over to West Virginia and see some mountains!!
+Michael Mingus Nice! OSU? You should check out Zaleski State Forest or Wayne National Forest if you're looking to do some backpacking. But you should def head to West Virginia when you get the time! Thanks for watching :) -Andrew
Thanks for watching Emmanuel :) haha no joke we sometimes joke around saying things like "wait till our boy Emmanuel machler sees this!" You and a couple of other people are such awesome supporters, so thank you!
You are welcome! You guys have inspired me so much with your adventures, as an adventurer and a video maker.... Still the best adventure channel on YT. ATVB!
Me and my friends talk often of visiting our buddies over there, a camp with you guys is at the top of the list for me. But if you ever get the opportunity to come to Oz you can be sure you have friends here that will look after you and show you the best of the land. Atb!
Greetings from Akron, and thanks for posting this video. I watched this video just before visiting Dolly Sods for the first time this past Thanksgiving weekend. It helped me tremendously. Happy new year.
you guys should come here to UK to hike & camp, you could hike the pennine way, lake district & scottish highlands, some amazing scenery without bears, snakes or mosquitos, in fact theres nothing to worry about in forests here except rain .. lol
Yall are just too funny. Love the outtro's you do. I have subscribed and will continue watching because I like the continent and how you put your video's together. It is a different format from many of the ones I have watched.
Hey guys I just want to say thank you for the videos and more importantly the way you do them. I've noticed on the internet especially backpacking and camping becomes more about the gear you're using and the clever new gadgets. You remind people what it's really about: the experience.
+State Parkers very much so! Especially better when you get to share the experience with friends!
+spikybry truth!

Instablaster.
Thank Guys for the Philosophy, the comedy, the vistas, the friendship, and the sharing!

I LOL'd at the "Wood for days!" Alfie cracks me up.
Once again, great job on the video - filming, editing, and music are all top notch.

No problem! Alfie definitely does make some very unique videos, but they are informative and very well shot! ~Bry
I love AlfieAesthetics. He doesn't seem to make much content anymore. I learned how to get unlost using the night sky by this guy. He's awesome. Do you know alfie or just watch his channel? He has my subscription.
I came through this area on an overland vehicle trip and could not get over how gorgeous the scenery was. I will surely be back (on foot!).
--Andrew

Looking back on this episode in 2024.. it's amazing how young everyone looks.
Right!? I’m going back to try and catch up on the older episodes and amazed at the difference lol 😂 it has been 9 years I guess 🤷♂️
Discovered you guys from a friend, and this has been so good to watch during all that's happening in the world. Thank you for sharing your journey's in nature with all of us!
mark brown - Can't respond to your comment directly, but thanks a bunch, and we're glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
I'm glad to hear that you will be getting back out again! Its never a bad time to camp :) ~Bry
So beautiful, but such a harsh and barren land. I love Dolly Sods.
Same here! Such a unique landscape for this region of the US. Definitely one of our favorite spots. Thanks for watching! -Andrew
The most enjoyment I have seen in a trail / bushcraft video. I would of happily paid money to see this in the cinema. Well done guys , I look forward to more. Thanks ***** for linking me to you guys. ATB Jason.
Wow - thank you so much for the high praise! Very glad you liked it. Rest assured we'll keep the videos free online, haha --Andrew
i gave a thumbs up even though there was no post hike meal
No way I would dive in frigid water in my birthday suit! You guys are the best, the comradery is awesome! Have a blessed day in Jesus name!
+Teemums Dude! That's exactly how we feel too! We couldn't wait for our second breakfast, or halvsies... or tea time.
AdventureArchives You guys are onto something, haha. Nothing beats eating out in the wild!
That bacon scene is still on my mind! And so is the line "I got wood for days" LOL! Again fantastic video guys...
You're guy's videos are therapeutic to my soul! God bless, Love and peace from Michigan
Can someone please get these guys on National Geographic or something, you guys are awesome I love your videos please keep them coming!!
96MatthewReynolds96 Haha, thank you so much man! Wouldn't that be something? Thanks again, and we will definitely keep em coming! We just filmed another a week ago, and it'll be up by the end of April! -Andrew
watching you guys devour the bacon at 33:00 while making animal noises with the subtle christmas music in the background is hilarious irony
Tim Lewallen, can't reply to your comment for some reason. But you should watch through to the credits - 48:35
That's so awesome. I know I commented on this when it came out. Perhaps that was on Facebook. Thanks guys!
Nice follow up to your other Dolly Sods video. The winter bathing section is funny. I think I'd have a heart attack though. This area has always fascinated me since it is largest example of boreal bogland that far south, and therefore is home to many northern plants. Orchids are my greatest interest, and I'm confident the area is crawling with them.
botanyboy1 Thanks! That is really interesting. I'd love to learn more about orchids. I only know of a few that grow in Ohio. Thanks for watching
AdventureArchives
Thanks for your kind words, my friends!
=) Kenton
43:05 a truly dedicated cameraman right there lmao much respect!
Dolly Sods in the winter! Wow! It was cold in July when I was there!
Love your rendition of Cosmo Canyon theme starting around 22:50
Haha thanks! I forgot Robby had based that song on Cosmo Canyon. Thanks for watching! -Andrew
It was like, watching and reading a book at the same time..well explain scenery and thoughts shared..hats off to you guys
parsnip parsley Thanks so much! That's actually very much what we were going for when we started our videos, so it's great to hear you say that. Thanks again, and thanks for you watching! --Andrew
You guys are hauling heavy glass jars!!! You win the trophy for most awkward hiking foods. Great vids! greetings from Reston.
You guys are crazy hiking during Winter. Stay safe.
those stars at 36:00 ........ amazing!
The stars never seize to amaze us when we're camping! And we got lucky with the way the clouds were drifting by that night :) Thanks so much for watching! -Andrew
You guys are real movie makers. Great narrating
Awesome! I hiked a very similar route in the Dolly Sods this past summer. It is a beautiful area.
shaddais2 Indeed! how'd your trip go?
You might like it here 😁
25:55 for a sec there i thought alfie was in the shot, good thing you gave him a shoutout later on ;)
+Sam Jonker Haha Alfie is great. Bryan is pretty good at doing impressions of people haha. Thank you for watching! :) -Andrew
-Andrew
Nice video. I have done some cross country ski camping at Dolly Sods in the middle and end of winter.
+mike alwill Sounds amazing. And that's good to know, thanks for the info! Is it pretty easy to cross country ski the first time?
Yes, if you start on flat areas with little or no hills. But if you try super steep hills, not easy at 1st.
Intro deserved a like by itself 🤣that was awesome (and original!)
-Andrew
Mike Musto Mike, we don't forget our viewers! Don't you worry, we remember good ole' Mike Musto. -Robby
Your video is like a book shined through videos, beautifully narrated and edited. :)
Thank you so much, that means a lot to us! Thanks for watching :) Cheers! -Andrew
Virginia Bradley - Can't respond directly to you for some reason, but thank you so much for watching, and we're glad you liked all those different aspects of the video!! We also noticed you (and someone with a cat picture) were some of the first commenters, haha --Andrew
You guys are just wonderful!
Absolutely dig your videos! Cant wait to see another adventure!
Curious99 Thanks so much for watching, and glad you like the vids! We've got another coming at the end of this month (finally)!
So funny that I happen to be watching this on my Birthday, so Thank you, and if your wondering when I am watching this its June 13 2020.
Happy Birthday :)
We all have our camping quirks, I suppose :-)
Regards,
Al
Thanks! It's weird because it's so bizarre to me that you can smoke something and it can actually be good for your respiratory system. -Robby
Haha, thanks so much for watching! That was definitely a hilarious moment for us! Cheers :) -Andrew
-Robby
I did a 2 day off trail hike here in the fall. Highly recommend getting off trail when the leaves change colors. Amazing sight.
+Caden Myers Oh interesting, that's good to know they're still clearing out an ordnance. Yeah, an off trail trip around there sounds amazing!
I can't wait for the next video. Always a great job!
JUVAT68 Thanks so much! Glad you liked it! Hopefully we'll be heading out sometime soon to film the next. --Andrew
-Andrew
Awesome video, thanks guys...
Thanks for watching our vids! Glad you liked it.
Great outtro. Excellent video. Thank you.
Jim Maltese Thanks for watching - glad you liked it! And thanks for staying for the end, haha -Andrew
--Andrew
another great video, guys! thanks. so much!
Christmas Dinner...🤣🤣🤣. What a great video!
Awesome work guys and that was a crazy polar bear swim!
--Andrew
I really enjoy your videos. Thanks and keep it up, another great effort.
Thanks so much, we're glad you enjoy them! We'll definitely keep it up! --Andrew
Awesome Video!! subbed :) You guys captured the atmosphere brilliantly. Great videography, narration and sound track, just awesome stuff. :)
DanVal Thanks so much! Glad you liked it! Every time we go out to film, we always worry about whether we've captured the feeling of being out there well enough, so it's great to hear that. Thanks again! --Andrew
Watching all the videos as something to do during quarantine. I have never gone back this far.... The skinny dipping was a fun surprise! 😂🤣
KingDennisJensen Thank you so much - that is super flattering! Very glad you liked it, and thanks for subbing! --Andrew
Ok, I was a little surprised at the river crossing scene. lol I believe i would have handled that the same way Brian did (clothes on). It was a great video, none the less. Thank you for sharing most of that.
Sorry, I spelled Bryan wrong on the previous reply.
+Jeremy Buchanan Haha no problem. In hind sight, we may have dragged that scene on a little bit too long, hahaha. Man, that was so cold. Thanks so much for watching! -Andrew
You guys are inspiring and fun to watch. I hope to see more of your videos in the future. Your friendship is really something to cherish. Peace! ✌🏽
Thank you so much! That means a lot to us, and thanks for watching :) If you go to our channel, the "All Full Episodes" playlist has our best videos. Cheers!
Love this one like all the rest! Inspiring, beautiful, and humorous. I hope to catch you guys hiking around Ohio sometime!
This video is filled with so much wisdom. I'm addicted to watching y'all! :)
+Ginnie Potts I'm glad you're enjoying our videos! We have a new episode coming out in a week! ~bry
AdventureArchives Cant wait!
-Andrew
Great video guys! That swim was impressive. Keep them coming :)
PaddleBunk Thanks so much for watching! Glad you liked it. And we are headed out next week to film! --Andrew
Enjoyed seeing some bushcraft on your guys' trip. Beautiful scenery and know you had a great time! 😁
Why have i not came across this channel before awesome vids...........and a shout out to alphie even better!
+rafael661kc haha, thanks for the kind words man, and yeah Alfie is awesome!
+AdventureArchives thanks so much
+Ashlyn Smith Absolutely, and thank you!
-Jason
Very good video! New intro very cool! 11:30 not a mouse, it's a Gerbil :)
Oh! That's cool. Was such a cute little bugger.
AdventureArchives Actually I think it was a mouse because gerbils have noticable fur on their tails
Michael Junkes Thanks very much, and glad you enjoyed it! --Andrew
spikybry Correct! Gerbils have furry tails, and mice don't. Also, it's a bit hard to tell from the video, but mice are smaller than gerbils, and this guy was rather small --Andrew
I had gerbils for years, looked like a gerbil on video! Really hard to say exactly. I got doubts now too... :)
So cool. I am getting more and more excited to just start walking and hiking, exploring earth. Keep making these cool videos
I'm so excited that I found this channel. You guys are brilliant and hilarious and inspiring and I hope I get to meet you someday.
Thanks for the kind words Akamai!
Big like and great job guys!
+Bassam Al-Bassam (The Blue Beret) Thank you so much! Glad you liked it :) -Andrew
Wow. Amazing dialogue and editing
-Robby
AdventureArchives Thanks for your reply. Very helpful! I'm looking forward to your Season 2, Epi. 2 video.
Editing it as we speak :) only eight days left haha, getting to crunch time.
Fantastic.
ATVB!
Emmanuel Machler Thanks so much! We gotta head to Australia some time, or something! --Andrew
Me and my friends talk often of visiting our buddies over there, a camp with you guys is at the top of the list for me. But if you ever get the opportunity to come to Oz you can be sure you have friends here that will look after you and show you the best of the land. Atb!
Emmanuel Machler Likewise! If you come to the States, we would love to show you around! -Andrew
Greetings from Akron, and thanks for posting this video. I watched this video just before visiting Dolly Sods for the first time this past Thanksgiving weekend. It helped me tremendously. Happy new year.
i watch it, i liked it, i subscribed. you guys have got skills. incredibly enjoyable for so many reasons, do more please.
LJ B You got it, more coming soon. Thanks for watching!
you guys should come here to UK to hike & camp, you could hike the pennine way, lake district & scottish highlands, some amazing scenery without bears, snakes or mosquitos, in fact theres nothing to worry about in forests here except rain .. lol
Yall are just too funny. Love the outtro's you do. I have subscribed and will continue watching because I like the continent and how you put your video's together. It is a different format from many of the ones I have watched.
