The reason Igglybuff kept on selecting solar beam against Manectric:
1. The gen 3 AI will check for all moves whether it think it will KO the opponent (it will try a damage roll).
2. If no moves return KO, it will have a high chance of using a status move, otherwise it selects a random move (super effective > neutral > resistant)
3. If one move returns KO, it will always use that move (priority KO moves before normal KO moves).
4. The move will be executed with a new, independent damage roll so the KO itself is not guaranteed (i.e. the AI can think it will KO based on the damage roll during move selection, but the actual damage roll might be lower to prevent the KO).
Since Solar beam was a guaranteed OHKO and Psychic was not, it will always select Solar beam. A way around would be to heal to ~90% health. Then Psychic could be enough to KO, so it can be selected, and then you might end up surviving the Psychic on 1 hp and KO with mirror coat.
I wonder if they ever realised they had different Kingdra's. Shens was 1 level higher and had confuse ray, which helped quite a bit

I feel like it was clear from the start that the strat against Igglybuff was just reset until Zap Cannon hits. There was no effective way to stall out its moveset, it was just too good.
Also, as to Chris's questions of why the AI uses different moves sometimes, the AI will use different moves if you have low health and it knows that they'll kill. That's why he kept seeing things other that solarbeam when his health was low.

If you're going as fast as possible, you don't have many options at that stage in the game. Same (even more so) if you're doing no-exp.
What exactly did they nerf about roxxane?
omegacbo she normally has a lv18. Nerfed to 15

@@UpTheIrons51510 Nope. In Emerald she normally has lvl 12 Geodude, lvl 12 Geodude, lvl 15 Nosepass. What they are referring to is the "Nerf Roxanne" option in the randomizer software taps, which removes her potions. (She has 3 potions if I am not mistaken).

poison tail can't poison it's just a regular high crit move
Its both. Poison tail has always been capable of inflicting poison.... though its only 10%, less than other added effects moves.
