A slingshot probably isn’t the most efficient as your high and instant acceleration from the slingshot is almost instantly cancelled out by your mass. Would a lower acceleration and longer lasting launcher be better?
Problem is all of the launch methods are 'Go up' and not 'Lift off' constant thrust is not the name of the game, it is 'Go fast' and 'gotta blast'
it really depends. the game has a problem with "optimization" vs "speed". The faster a run ends, the faster you get money to spend on more upgrades. The slower a run ends, the more money you get from that run. Generally speaking, sonic drives are the key to fast, and with some minor optimizations (waiting till you fall back under terminal velocity), you can get through the game's story objectives pretty quickly. Payloads change things a bit, though. Payloads cannot be reduced, so the heavier the payload, the heavier your build to deal with it.
Not including the full catalog unlocked over a multitude of runs, you want anything "omega" (from certain challenge medals), sonic bursts, and shuttle rockets, depending on what you are trying to do. shuttle rockets help the payloads, sonic bursts for "reach height quickly" and shatter the moon. If DF is making any big mistakes, it is simply burning the sonic bursts at greatly reduced effectiveness by not waiting to leave the red to fire the next one (or re-aiming when hitting a hazard first).
@@cullenlatham2366 Sonic bursts are auto stages, and not manually triggered, but DF not staggering them.. def an issue.
@@ThatWhichObserves yes, that is exactly what i meant. you can still delay the firings (default: hold down) to get the max benefit, and THAT is what i was referring to. I never said they were manuals you had full control over, only that he should have waited until the speedometer dropped down out of the red (terminal velocity) before firing the next.
Glad you came back to LTF 3! one of my favorites since stardew. The nuclear reactor is my favorite launcher and dark matter to reduce weight.

very weird place for the altitude to cutoff, its 1 less than the signed integer limit of 2.1b so its 2^30 instead of the usual 2^31.
its ±(2^30)/10 horizontally and ((2^30)/10)+1000
@@weranoutofnames869 yeah but thats not what im getting at 2^30 is super awkward for a integer limit in a game. since yknow its 2^32 and 2^31 signed. Makes it feel like a conscious decision or they are using 1 bit of the integer to record something that isnt a sign.
