True! Just use the broken part you just removed and use it to keep the handle pulled open. Once it's opened, you can put the screws in at an angle with the torque wrench with no problem..
After removing the two torx screws and I pull out the lever there is hardly any play in it and it comes out half of what yours did. Is there a simpler way to get more slack so I can have enough room to get the cable out of the broken piece..
Hi. I was stupid enough to press my P-brake during -15°C and something happened since the wire on the release handle jumped out and the handle itself. Now the P-brake wont engage on +7°C (i only did the 3 clicks with the hand) i mounted back the wire in to the release handle and it just stays pulled out. There is slight resistance on the wire so i guess it did not detach or jump off where it sits. What could have happened? Should i tried pressing the p-brake harder with my leg?
I just applied my emergency brake and i heard a click and my handle popped out of the dash. It not going in anymore and the emergency brake won’t hold no more. Any possibilities ?
Sourced part from my local Mercedes dealer. £14. Replacing part is exactly as the video details. Putting screws back In can be a little tricky so a second set of hands is handy. Great video, super helpful. Thanks 🙏
After replacing the handle now comes out much further until the handbrake light goes off. So far in fact that I have to slot the lever back in to its hole. Can you think of any reason why this might be - ie, could the cable have come out of some internal clip or something?
I had the same problem, you need to take the side panel off and connect the cable into the back of the lever as well, the black plastic of the cable should sit neatly behind the lever....hope you understand this as it's quite simple.
people don't use the park brake? so what, they let the entire weight of the car rest on the gearbox while it is in P ?? that can't be good for the gearbox.
Unfortunately most people aren’t mechanically sympathetic as they aren’t aware. These people use phrases such as “turning my car on,” or “my car won’t work” or cannot differentiate wheels and tyres.
Thanks for this, made the job a lot easier than I expected,
Excellent, no messing about video. Thanks

The hardest part is getting the screws back in while holding the lever out while trying not to pop the mechanism out
Legitimately almost smashed the car up when I’ve been doing it in the rain just now 😂
How did you do it? Got to this part 😅

Helloo, what if that grey wire snaped is the procedure more difficult or I can replace it myself?
Thanks for explaining, is it similar with W124?
Hi, yes similar but as I recall on a w124 the under dash panel has to be removed to replace.
@@mercland6434 alright then, thanks for replying 🙏💪

Judging by other parking brake videos it;s a sticking spring/wire that needs WD40/grease _ i'll add a link

Can you link the video that you mentioned towards the end, regarding the E Brake and why they fail.

Thanks! Yes it is best to buy from dealer. Cheap and correct first time!
How do you get to the cable if it went in?
Above foot pedals, pull down the plastic trim which is held on with 3 torx screws. Then you should be able to find the cable.
@@mercland6434 thanks a lot for the quick response! Subscribed!
Hi, do you know which size torx screwdriver you needed? I used t10 and t15 but they were too small.
T20
hi my issue is the handle is loose now. is the cable supposed to be behind the hook inside the dash?
Yes!

@@russelledmonds2189 the cable isn’t located properly either handle end or other end at park brake mechanism
