Great game. All I play is blue steel. Some sleeper cards are Caterpillar and Prince Charming. Both 3 lore. There is nothing better than watching someone's face when you have 6 ink and 2 Caterpillars ready. Even at 3 ink, it gives you that beginning lore. It's a burner card, but it forces your opponents to attack instead of quest early.
Really enjoyed this breakdown from you, very well articulated. I would love to chat with you one on one about Lorcana if you ever feel so inclined. Let me know.
Blue Steel is definitely my favorite deck atm and easily a top 2 deck in the format (along with Ruby Amethyst). My next blog entry is going to be on this deck and its amazing synergy. The only major thing i do differently from your list is 3 Tiana.
Been running Steel Sapphire locally, been very good with the card selection. Jafar at 2 Ink is a good meta call over Eric as it can take out Minnie Evasive, or other evasive threats and it still hits for 3 against Mim Fox/Snake
I've ran this deck, and many other versions, and so far since 2nd set I still prefer Eric with his 3 health. Jafar is great but is easily taken out by teeth and does a whole lot worse vs steel song.
I definitely have and I might try it out at some point. I do worry about having a bit too much "air" in the deck at some point though. Certainly an option instead of Develop your brain.
I'm guessing the "whoops" at the end of the one game was the opponent planning on hitting Cogsworth with the 5 damage so the Grab Your Sword would do full damage to the rest of your board. They forgot Cogsworth had Ward.
I like this deck and played it a couple of times at locals but my amber ruby deck has a strong matchup against blue steel because you just flood the board with value characters and blue steel only has target removal or ping damage which doesnt cut it.
Well blue steel does actually have a decent amount of hard removal in let it go and hades. Also note that both of those cards eat mufasa outright with no trigger which can be pretty brutal.
Hey HannibalBarca great video once again... i need general advice most of the steeldeck using beast cost 5 ..if i dont have any.. which card can " replace " it ?
That's pretty tricky because 5 drop beast is pretty important in this deck. I think the first thing I would do is go up to 4 flaversham and maybe add another gaston. The 4th copy of cogsworth would good as well I think. The deck will definitely be worse without beast though.
@@bannibalharca i know it help for draw but its one of the most expansive card from Chap 2 to buy ATM hahaha and i play more casual/multiplayer no rush to get it. The price will goes down when s3 coming. I might try with your tips maybe add 2x Judy Hopp
I think that ruby amethyst control is the clear best deck at this point. There are a number of decks that can beat ruby amethyst or go close to even with it, and those decks have a place in the meta. Still, the results from major tournaments paint a clear picture in my opinion. I'm personally not convinced about the various ruby amber decks. Every competitive deck I've played this reason has a positive record against it in my pixelborn stats so I've been unimpressed. I haven't played it much myself though so I can't be very certain.
You said you played a series of 15 blue steel Vs ruby amethyst, but unless I missed it you didn't say how they actually went. Your demo game of the matchup is ruby am doing absolutely nothing 2 turns in a row which isn't an amazing representation of this matchup. What's the matchup actually like in your opinion?
It's definitely in favor of Ruby Amethyst by a bit. The die roll is super important, but Ruby Amethyst just needs to curve out while the ideal draw for blue steel is harder to set up. I'm guessing something like a 40-60 matchup. On pixelborn I have a winning record with blue steel, but it's barely over 50%.
I'm really just at the beginning of the video where you say that if we miss fishbone quill on turn 3 then the deck will struggle. In this case why not add the 3 cost Winnie the Pooh to maximize the chances of ramping?
Well you could play Pooh, but he isn't safe from removal and can be challenged after being used once. Most versions are playing 2 or 3 mickey as a way to get ramp as well. The problem is that fishbone is repeatable and you often get into a spot where you want to ramp every single turn for 5+ turns and only fishbone (or Belle) can do that. Other ramp cards can get you off the ground, but none of them provide the same ink advantage that fishbone will over the course of a game.
@@bannibalharca mickey ramp only happens once guaranteed as well, and mickey is uninkable. pooh thinking being inkable makes a lot of difference believe it or not
In the last game, wouldnt Belle + Tink be enough for tremaine protection, and leaving you with an extra belle in case of a board wipe? You ended up playing Belle, Belle, Tink, so if he did have the prepared you'd be in a rough spot I think. So next turn you have belle + something and present lethal again. Either way, very far ahead so probably any line would of been good with wheel in hand.
It's possible that would be better, but I felt confident that I could keep the pressure up even with a be prep due to the wheel still in hand. If they played Tremaine > Tremaine two threats isn't enough for lethal and I don't really want to Hades that either. I've been punished by being too timid before in the matchup and I've found that if you still have gas it tends to be better to just put them on be prep or die. As I mentioned elsewhere in the video though it can be difficult to decide just how much to commit.
@@bannibalharca appreciate the insight! I think one jump is a good addition and I really like develop as a dig answer on turn 1 or 2 as well as just more ink.

Excellent video! I can't wait to see what changes you make to the deck.

I wanted to make a witty comeback, but turns out you were bashing yourself.
How did it take me this long to realize that Bannibal looks like Kyle Bornheimer? (Teddy from Brooklyn 99)

That is something I've considered as a 2 of or something just to get on the board more consistently in the early game. Definitely a good option.

Wow insane how much ink you can put down, A Whole New World is used super well in this deck.
Thoughts on “nothing to hide”? Takes out some of the uncertainty on when to WNW and when to commit to the board.

@@bannibalharca 100% I’m gonna try it at my locals next week, I did the amber ruby mufasa deck last night and won 5/5

Try it a couple of times or maybe come back to it. Unfortunately dreamborn just doesn't want to work sometimes.
Sometimes using a different browser helps me.
