I think in a few years, this song will take hold, and will be as endeared and loved as the old theme. It will take a few years to get in the subconscious of Canadians like the old song, but once it does, it will be there forever, because this song will represent hockey, and especially the longer and warmer days in the spring as the playoffs roll on. I think that really turned Canadians on to the old song, tuning into a playoff game on a gorgeous day in May after a long frigid Canadian winter.
Having only been living in Canada for 8 years, I like both themes. However, after the amount of butchery that CTV Globemedia have done to the original theme by Delores Claman, I have to say that I prefer the current theme. It's the only time that I have ever liked the use of bagpipes!

Love "Canadian Gold" by Colin Obrest.
I live in America...I love the USA, but I wish I could watch hockey with this type of coverage here!!!!

Bagpipes > No bagpipes. It's science.
Anyone have end credits with the ORIGINAL "HNIC" theme? Thanks.
I want an .mp3 of this without the whole "HELLO CANADA" part in the intro. :/
Then you might enjoy the video Garfield can't stand "Canadian Gold".
