Thank you Chesterton Radio, for posting this. Poirot is amazing. I appreciate these old radio shows because I can listen and get other things done...when I watch a moviie or show I don't get much else done! Plus it's fun to listen to how they made these shows, very nostalgic.
Thanks for this. I think it might stop some people complaining if they realise this is almost certainly *not* Dame Agatha’s writing, and just enjoy it as a story. Going by the style of billing, and the timing it looks like she might have signed over contracts to USA. Certainly Poirot has an different persona here, and there’s a lot more action and yelling. Even if it is her writing there’s a couple of things to consider. She sometimes just sat down and wrote a book, or some short stories, with a monetary goal only. She also did sign over USA copyright to an American publisher at one stage. The date given for this radio play fits in with the fact that her country house had been requisitioned by the military for the duration of WW2. They vacated in 1945, but she had endless arguments as to what repairs they’d pay for. (Factoid: The army left behind approx twenty toilets but refused at first to take them away, claiming they were an improvement)
Don't let the negative comments bother you. They don't have to listen, so they must just enjoy complaining. Sad I guess they have no life. I appreciate the post.
Hugh Fraser leaves David Suchet in the dust imo. Esp when doing the other characters in the books. I even read a comment where the commentor thought one of Hugh Fraser's narrations was a play! With other actors! He is brilliant. I appreciate David Suchet's work. I appreciate all the good narrators. Esp as I pay nothing. The fact of being offered such a wide array of choices is such a privilege. Hi from Oz down under! 👇💜🙃
@@cousinsister69 Hugh Frazier is an amazing narrator. I guess I was just thinking of the character of Poirot and what a great job David Suchet has done. I have recently been hearing John Moffat as Poirot and he too does a great job. Suchet, on tv as Poirot remains my favorite though. Hope all is well down under!
Yay! Thanks for uploading Agatha Christie's Poirot. Which, imo, means her character creation is involved but not necessarily has Agatha Christie written these stories.
Strange that you should say that. The British dramatizations consistently mispronounce his name, putting the accent on the first syllable. This one does not.
And then there are the folk who cannot produce Hercule. But never mind. If you don't like these dramas, there are complete sets of audiobooks of the originals.
I don't mind the American accent but I do mind it not being based on any Agatha Christie story. Thanks for the warning, it will not listen to it & will un-bookmark.
I really enjoy these mini-mysteries. I love Agatha Christie's stories. Can't wait to listen to more.
Thank you for uploading these plays .

Super melodramatic play listening with joy...

I am a purist especially when it comes to novels and characters but I really enjoy these deviations they are entertaining!!!

I appreciate the post.
These amerikaniii broadcasts are wonderful.
They are made for a disparate listenership.
Do not desparage them,
For the stories are the thing!!
🤔
I think David Suchet has made all other Poirot wannabes before and after him sound ridiculous . This might have been better as a Sam Spade story.
Suchet is the Rathbone of Poirots?
Hmm. Basil may no longer have the defining spot.
I totally agree ...David is the BEST

@@cousinsister69 Ditto to all you say, and, gidday to you from downunder (vic)
This was fun to listen to, thanks!
Astonishing!
thanks

I don't think Hercule can solve a mystery in 29 minutes in a few seconds and I don't think you should have to
Fantastic
Would love a cast list :-)
American English puts emphasis on the second syllable the English put it on the first. As in RoseMARY (US) and ROSEmary (English) .
Elaine Payne it really depends on where you live. Boston people said differently than people in Alabama.

Thank you...excellent
Unfortunately, there were too many American actors trying to disguise their accents.
Poirot for people who can’t pronounce Poirot

Haha. Murder wears a mask.
Sounds more like Ross Perot.
Lol!
And "Caaaan ah finish?"
Me? This? Ma foi, non!
@@brucebaker810 Is there only one way of speaking English? Only one acceptable accent?
@@patricias5122 jeez! You’re a pain is the ass. Don’t you have anything better to do, than lecturing people? Get a life woman! 👍
You’re correct. Don’t let ole PEPPERMINT PATTY…AKA PATRICIA get to yah! She’s always bitter and politically “correct”…
She’s a bored old hen…. 😂
I don't think he wore a bowler hat.
Me gustaría verla con subtitulo al español

Waaaaaaa
American accents jar. NOT based on any of Agatha Christie’s stories. Quite silly altogether.
What kind of accent do you expect for a story set in New York?
Keeps reminding me of the radio series “Chicken Man”

5 minutes was all I could take of Perots annoying voice and bad French accent
Belgian, mon ami, Belgian..
Twinsonic. My first reaction too. 🤣🐢
It matches your bad French spelling.
