One for a couple of my private students. A great song for training the right hand sixteenth notes amongst a groove. We have Dave Grohls signature single strokes over a thumping kick drum, always great to play. And a few cheeky subdivision changes. Great tune.
The drums are the song
Super cool and powerful, Duke! Love your style and the confidence in the beat!! Tremendously done!! Congratulations👏👏👏👏 💪💪💪💪💪

very good! no one seemed to notice that closed hi hat before the two snare flams. Great job
I played it wrong for years before I sat down and transcribed it!
I've always interpreted the chorus hihats as 8th notes, but quarters work too. Nice cover!

Thanks so much for this, man! I've been obsessively watching your drum cover + notation videos and I've had a blast learning this one! Besides more of this I would love to see a tutorial on something specific. In Smells Like Teen Spirit there are a few 16th kicks that you do a sort of back and forth motion with your foot? I'd love to see how that is done! Thanks again and congrats on the baby girl! I hope you're all healthy and happy :))
Cheers man, I'm certainly planning to do a video on this at somepoint, although it'll probably be released directly on my website ( dukegrooves.com ) . If you haven't seen it already, have a look at the 'Heel-Up Whip' video on my channel. You'll need this before you can hit those doubles!

And he likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun
But he don't knows not what it means
Don't knows what it means, when I say
He's the one who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun
But he don't know what it means, don't know what it means, and I say, "Yeah"
We can have some more

Can’t quite understand the hi hat part after the intro. It’s written as 16th notes but I hear like it’s played in 8th notes. Is it just a matter of accents or what?
The moeller whipping motion that I'm using means that you get a slight loud-quiet-loud-quiet effect. But the quiet ones should still be audible. Definitely 16ths on the track 👍
@@DG-Drums thanks for your reply. Yes, indeed I can hear it on the original track but not quite much on yours. BTW I was thinking about some kind of tecnique like down-up stroke alternation or something. Thanks for the explaination.
