One of my favorite films of all time. Classic 80s vibe straight from the 80s. Music, fashion, crime. Immersive.
Yeah, love it. It's like someone took Manhunter and turned the bravado up to 11.
It’s definitely on my top 10 movies of all time. Such a unique film.
The most underrated crime heist thriller of the 80's. Maybe of all time.
*Neo-Noir
@@Elfo_Scuro True-dat.
That is correct- with the best car chase. Friedkin does it again.
@@Elfo_Scuro no it'a a police procedural buddy cop movie
I’ve never seen this one. Just found it in a box of vhs tapes that were going to the dump. Some really cool looking tapes in there.
RIP william Friedkin this was your masterpiece
No.
@@MrCarpen7er Maybe it is.....
Sorcerer
@@deathmonger183 also good
It's 2024 and I still cannot get enough of this movie. My favorite crime flick of all time. I'll never forget watching it in the theater, I literally thought that William Peterson was really crazy, in real life. The entire cast lights up the screen and it's full throttle all the way through. I can't say enough about Willem Dafoe, playing such an evil character in his younger up coming days, and he's at his finest in this movie. And it really captured the dark, dreary evening and nights in Los Angeles back in the mid 80's. This movie is a true Masterpiece!
PETERSEN there´s no O in the name. Americans really are s tupid.
Some films just don't get old and this is definitely one of them.
Willem Dafoe, is one of the greatest actores of all time. With his sculptured jaw line.
William Peterson And Willem Dafoe was dangerous in this. Great
movie
he has done so many incredible roles! my all time fav is platoon
Three little Willys went out to play
Two badass actors at the top of their game! With a badass director!
He can rock "the English Patient" and even a bubble gum movie "Streets of Fire" - (don't get me wrong liked the film, great soundtrack) just saying he can work any role.
One of the best William Friedkin's movies on the planet in the 1980's.
So sad, Will is gone last year but his legendary motivation lives on forever.
RIP - WILLIAM FRIEDKIN - 1935-2023 - Never forgotten, sir. GREAT TRAILER!
One my favorite all time films .... so badass ... so slick ... willem dafoe plays the quintessential villain,.. genius writing - excellent performances- dope soundtrack!! I'm surprised this was such a sleeper.. it's just good on so many levels....❤
This film deserves a 40th Anniversary Theatre Re-release.
OMG I would pay $500
That's a fantastic idea
I’m just gonna tell myself that this was what an average day in the 80s was like regardless of where you were: coke at the airport, a gun fight, explosions, a car chase and all set to a synthesizer…
It was... Trust me..
I think that was the point of the movie/ending ?
It's probably the greatest car chase screen ever.
I've seen many car chase scenes in movies and I agree. Friedkin hit it out of the park. Rest in Peace!
No that would be Bullitt, but this is up there. Masterpiece
one of my favourite movie trailer of all time. the computer text describing chance and master, the music (which I still searching to this day), the editing, it's all really fit with the tone of the movie.
also one of my favourite crime movies as well, I still doesn't have a lot of chances to watch a lot of Friedkin films, but would love to check it all out :)
Don't miss this trepidante Thriller.
I agree with u. The computer text and the music in the background were amazingly sounds!
Friedkin is one of the best of all time this film and Socerer from
1977 film score by Tangerine Dream staring Roy Schieder based on the French film Wages of Fear - nothing better .
Another underrated work of Friedkin
I remember watching this at my friend’s house late at night, on Betamax. We lived in Saudi Arabia at the time.
I don’t think you could see it in movie theaters they are not positive, but don’t think they have any movie theaters. I was at Riyadh in 1994. Nice modern city, but no nightlife whatsoever. Just shop and eat if you want to go out.
This is the most 80s movie!
This one, and Scarface.
And that's a good thing!
Real Genius too
@@robynlea6950And Michael Mann's Manhunter (1986).
this trailer rocks like no other.
Yeah, It locked me in a seizure
This film deserves the same amount of love as the late, great William Friedkin’s other films French Connection and Exorcist!
Absolute Masterpiece...Timeless
RIP. Wish he'd been able to move forward with rebooting this as a TV series.
Brilliant movie, excellent soundtrack & terrific car chase.
RIP William Friedkin who passed away today, 07 August 2023.
Willem Dafoe is such a Terrific underrated actor.
Is he really underrated?
@@mmark300 not really outside of his role as The Green Goblin in Sam Raimi's Spider-man trilogy, but also in the last temptation of Christ in 1988.
Thank you, Billy Friedkin.
Trailer: how much epilepsy do you want?
Me: none
Trailer: say no more
Masterpiece.
I got epilepsy from watching this trailer.
10/10 Would watch again.
Best action thriller of the 80s, and myabe ever
one of willam dafoes best movies !!!
That music was awesome! Movie looks intense and great! 👍
is
@losthighway8141 Yes, correct is great music! 👍
Rest In Peace Mr William Friedkin (Director)
Yes, the world knows for a long time that William Friedkin was a movie director.
Why haven't Dafoe and Peterson done another film together since "To Live and Die in LA?" They had such an electric bad chemistry between them in what was a breakout flick for both of their careers.
"I have a friend in Palm Springs, Lenny Green, you know him?"
"I have a friend in Hollywood, Donald Duck, you know him?"
Chance and Masters should be reunited!
I recently bought this on VHS not knowing anything about it but looked interesting. All I have to say is very underrated!!
My best friend and I watched this movie in the theater on shrooms when we were 15. It' was a crazy experience, it's literally imprinted on my brain.
One of the best movies ever!
Amazing movie. Includes an incredible car chase scene. Great villain: Willem Dafoe. Awesome protagonist: William Peterson (pre CSI - he should have been an action movie star). A great watch...buckle yourself in. Not one boring scene.
I remember this Film and all that went with it! What a Statement about LA and the city. The Music Score was cool too. Billy was a great Director!
I ❤ this movie! Great cast, cinematography, soundtrack. And young William Petersen was HOT!
An absolutely masterpiece! A perfect movie with one of the best car chase ever!
My goodness!! The 80's-style editing of this trailer gave me an epileptic seizure!
This movie is more intense than The French connection. William Friedkin's masterpiece. ❤
My favorite movie
Great movie. Watch it immediately.
Too much editing at the end but probably perfect for 80's, classic not underrated ANYMORE, stop it geeks, the movie had big collectors edition for years now, and Imdb rates got high by now, 80's bigger classic of the crime drama genre with Year of the dragon, check.
Ps: also 81 Les choix des armes, french bomb.
I watched this film in Florida back in the early 80 anyways it has a.mazimg cast William Peterson Williams dofoe
Great movie with a classic 80s soundtrack and a thrilling car chase! Whenever I catch it on cable (like last night) I always watch it. The dialogue is riddled with law enforcement/crime clichés so I like to call the movie "To Live and Die in Cliché". ;^)
I just watched this movie & it's right up there with movies like Heat & Training Day. It's like a mix of those two movies in one. All I could think of while watching it was, with some tweaking, this could be a great prequel to Training Day. Alonzo Harris & his team doing something similar to what the agents did in this movie, but against the Russian mob would be great.
Dafoe excellent actors !!!!
A masterpiece!!!
No MIAMI VICE without this movie.
This film was shot in 1985, Miami Vice was first shown over a year earlier in 1984.
No lethal Weapon
Will this movie be available on blu-ray anytime soon? I see that it’s out of print
Yup. Kino Lorber is releasing a 4K remaster in late May
@@CarpanaFilms thank you so much for the information. This is great news! Kino Lorber has been releasing some great movies.
Some people are currently selling the out-of-print blu-ray anywhere from $50 to $200 on eBay
Luckily, I got the Shout Factory Blu-ray before it went out of print.
Here after hearing the sad news about William
Looks so good, on my watchlist now.
It's very good I have it on blu-ray it's a must see
@@bryanneufeld4328 A must see.
This is the first film I saw bungee jumping in. After that it was everywhere. The early modern dance sequence made me want to see more.
Good trailer doesn't give half movie away
From 1:17 to 1:43, that music was amazingly fantastic!
OMG who cut the trailer back then? Then you get eye cancer. 🙈😵💫🥴
RIP Billy Friedkin
I looks good. Dafoe makes great movies. Very good actor.
What a seizure feels like
cuz your old
Ok this just made have to buy the 4k disc.
I’m watching all good movies I heard about but never seen 70’s-80’s once a week. This is first on my list. Let’s go!
Is it possible to film a remake in 2024?
One of my favorite action films, I can watch it over and over and every viewing is like the very first time.
Every time someone checks the money I have I tell them that the feds call me Rick Masters. So good at it even they can't tell mine from theirs.
Saw this movie at the Loews times Square came from Jersey just to watch this picture !!!!
You can put out a trailer for it but you can't put it on streaming anywhere
Such a great movie
Brilliant Film 👏
When trailers give you seizures
The car chase is better than the movie The French Connection. Only a great director like William Friedkin could do it.
How can you not stream this in 2024?
One of Friekens best
Yup dats what Friedkin did..he lived and died in LA...😉 RIP
Great, great movie.
Soft Spoiler…..
…..Weren’t too many movies at the time that had what happens to our supposed hero/protagonist. Remember the first time I saw it I was “what!? Wait, did they just….?” Had to rewind it (good ‘ol VHS) to make sure it actually happened.
When will it be available for purchase on yt??
I used to jam this soundtrack soooo much!
this trailer is INSANE
The quick cuts gave me a seizure 😵💫
Woah wait a minute... you mean to say that michael mann DIDN’T direct this picture?
THERE’S NOTHING BUT RUNNING 🏃♀️ WITHOUT A TRACK 🤔 NOTHING MAKES US WANT TO BUY THIS 😳🎤
Did Anyone else think it was gonna say " It's Cookin" at the beginning? No? lol idk it made me think of heel rock's theme
Just got my SE Kino copy on Blu-ray, can't wait to see it.
It's a freaking masterpiece
Dude's an artist too? I see why Matt Cox talks about this movie. Even the same style of slicked back hair 😅
When did the title song play on the film ...ending ? thats sounds kool
c'est le meilleur film policiers de tous les temps selon moi il sent fait plus des films comme ça.
Great trailer. Leaves u guessin
Ngl was kinda rooting for the "bad guy" this whole movie long
Your comment implies that there were any legit "good" guys LOL.
But yeah, I know what you mean.
Awesomeness
2pac brung me here
Fo reall ☠️
4 stars hands down.
GTA V has bits of this movie, that I just found on TCM channel. Also, elevator scene from departed found inspiration here.
Why post the trailer if the film isn't available on any streaming site?
This was 80’s L.A.
The editing in this trailer is terrible, but this is an excellent film, and Friedkin's best.
Think you need glasses
Awesome!
Good stuff from the once great westernkind. Time to go free with love hope and redemption for the wellbeing of westernkind.
Will this movie be available on MGM+?
This feels like every other car chase criminal film of the era. Am I wrong in this?
Yes
Awesome movie! Even better soundtrack ❤
Cult Classic !
Obviosuly, he did alright on CSI, but between this and Manhunter, you'd think William Peterson would have had a bigger movie career.
I left L.A. in 84. Because I never would have lived beyond 85.
