And shows you how Gandalf is basically what kept the fellowship to never stray from the path not just frollo and the hobbits but everyone who was with him and you clearly tell when they think he’s dead he was that big of an influence on them
"I'm going alone!" "Course you are, and I'm going with you!" I love that line. It could have been so cheesy, but the delivery makes it so sincere and heartwarming.
And it indicates what becomes more and more true as the story unfolds: Frodo and Sam are really two halves of one whole, they’re no longer separate beings.
The fact that Sam can't swim and is actually wary and fidgety around water yet went into it without hesitation or fear KNOWING that far greater perils than drowning would await him on this journey is testament to his unshakable loyalty to his friend. Samwise the Brave truly earned his name ten times over.
As far as I remember, in the book, Sam's biggest fear in the world was to swim. That means that in this particular moment in the story that Sam's had surpassed it and was willing to die following the path Gandalf (Ilubatar's angel) had set for him. It is because of this act that he's immediately saved in the story and Frodo's hand appears coming from the sun, which kind of makes you wonder for a second, since Sam was not struggling anymore, if the hand represents Ilubatar's hand coming to get him into heaven. Sam had proven himself and at this point, of all the fellowship members, he's the only one who had evolved beyond, matured his strenghts overcoming his former self entirely.
No music between 0:14 - 0:54 really makes this scene special. The silence except for the little bit of wind. It's so contemplative. And Frodo really doesn't have to say anything for us to capture everything we need in the moment.
I think this is the moment when he felt the true weight of the task ahead of him. The silence, to me, reflects the emptiness he feels having realized that it's too dangerous to keep the ring with the fellowship, and that he is now alone. It also highlights Sam calling out to him, since Sam is the only one who cuts through that emptiness and keeps Frodo going.

George rr martin criticizes these type of fantasies as unrealistic (as in not enough sex, gore and deaths in lotr) however more emotion was dragged out of me kicking and screaming as you want in this scene than all of George's content combined.
Yeah you shouldnt really compare Game of Thrones and Lord of the rings in my opinion. They are very different types of fantasy where lord of the rings is more of a classic epic fantasy tale, while Game of Thrones tries to go for a more low fantasy with a more realistic approach. Cant compare them at all, so i dont really know why George RR Martin critize this. Jealousy and bitterness maybe?
