Man most of the honorable mentions are better than actual list smh
is john deacon middle name "genius"?
I can't believe Maiden gets placed 10...
Roundabout honorable mention? What a joke
Made by people that can't hear bass in songs
I love your hecking profile picture so much-
@@scbengarde thanks
Just like the the top ten head banging songs, it’s all popular songs. In my opinion yyz would’ve been top 3
Besides dazed and confused
Maybe not my picks, but okay. They were all good picks.
Should be called "Top 10 Bassist's 3rd best songs".
HONESTLY
I know "American Life" from Primus? How about Jerry was a Racecar Driver? Or Tommy the Cat? Both way better more memorable bass parts. Rush and Primus should have been number 1 and 2 as we all know. Either order would have been fine.
TairyGreen89 the entire list could have been primus and everyone would have agreed
American life for Primus?! At least golden boy or John the Fisherman deserved that spot.
Random songs by bassists everyone knows
'The Chain' by Fleetwood Mac will forever remain my favourite
Do it for The bass When a song is created solely to accommodate the bassline, you know it’ll be good.
Do it for The bass amazing bass solo
@@metalinyourhead3604 I agree
Yep
YES!
The Chain by Fleetwood Mac should be on the list. It has possibly the most memorable riff
My thoughts exactly
Yes!
I think Rhiannon’s baseline is even better
Roundabout being an honorable mention instead of being on the list is a joke.
Are we all going to just forget about N.I.B by Black Sabbath?
Or into the void
Yeah wtf
That’s the only reason I’m
Here, thanks for saving me 14 minutes
or No More Tears
Its not that good.
Let me guess: Another one Bites the Dust, Queen?
Yeah, wasn't even a second thought
+Lorentz Lossius lol
Of course.
Don't try Suicide had a better one
+Benny Biggums Or Dragon Attack, really.
I love how the who, led zeppelin, and queen's bass players are named John
John Deacon is better & hotter lol

Hello Jimmy!
The fact there is no mention of Cream or Black sabbath seems wrong
Yeah, NIB--Black Sabbath is a Sick Bassline
Spoonful, man...
yea it really does
Jojo stand
@@arneshpal7702 fuck off
John Deacon is the reason why I now have a bass.
And Bernard Edwards' bass line in Chic's "Good Times" is the reason that that John Deacon is very rich.
ArthurPewtey how tho? He was a successful and good bass player
Just giving credit where it is due. The video is about bass lines, not bass players, and Deacon clearly appropriated his bass line in "Another One Bites the Dust" from Edwards.
ArthurPewtey but that's a different story
If another bites the dust is not how Freddie Mercury made it to be then john Deacon would still be rich from his success in queen
same
Hysteria and feel good inc are honourable mentions?
Mostly Hysteria??
I was here for that and Another one Bites the Dust
Feel Good Inc. For sure.
Calm down. This is just a video made by people standing their own opinions for people who also stand their own opinions as well.
I think compare the other songs from feel good inc, it deserves to be in the honourable mention
Despite the ranking of AOBTD, John Deacon is a criminally underrated bassist.
He's just a criminal
@Mike. Hunt. smooth criminal
he's not even underrated like at all
he's a really appreciated bassist
I was saying John Paul Jones is slept on. That is still true, but Deacon is even more underrated.
Rev up that low end? More like Rev up those fryers amirite
Go back to Flavortown!
Yes - Roundabout!!!!! Unbelievable bassline that makes the song.
@Faded Tuber JOJO!!!!!!!!!!!!
You were expecting a fellow bassist but no IT WAS I A JOJO FAN
Wetzel Clan like every Squire bassline.
Ziggy P what about both?
Hysteria deserves WAY more than an honourable mention.
That bass line is a finger paralyzer
It's should've been on the list
It's so great
Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain”
How this wasn't on this list blows my mind
@@jacobsutton8798 in a list with pink floyd and led zeppelin name on it ? if it was that would be mind-blowing pal :) but ps that list was no good i believe ...
Yes and "Roundabout" Chris Squire
Deserves more than honorable mention. Not entirely sure YYZ would have been my pick for Rush, either, but there are so many to choose from. The bass playing in Red Barchetta is from another world...
Definitely should have been in TOP 5
I searched for this video after listing to yes. They should have been in the top 5
It is remarkable how most of the honerable mentions would be better fitting on the list than those that actually made it there.
Nicklas Jensen gorillaz for. #1
Right? Schism is an honorable mention?
Janine De I think schism should have been an honorable mention, it's a guitar line played on bass. Don't get me wrong I love tool but Justin chancellor just isn't a traditional bass player
Marc Forte what Tool Song didn't have a badass Bassline though
madkiller tool has a good bit of really good bass lines
Led Zeppelin have the most incredible bass lines: Dazed and confused, The lemon song, How many more times, Ramble on, Whole lotta love... John Paul Jones the best bassist of all time
Thank you now I must learn
He is also a multi instrumentalists and he can play anything
Achilles last stand
the opening of How Many More Times never gets old
Rush is better
Geddy lee could easily have filled this list. Yyz, leave that thing alone, animate, circumstances, and pretty much every one of their songs
don't forget turn the page... that song gives me nightmares
Gaston Chiasson true that 🤘
Also Malignant Narcissism. That's his best bass work for sure.
@Lucas Neal for sure - S & A is super underrated
Agree!
Something from And Justice For All... better be here.
Malkovith1 greatest comment ever lol
I wanna kms lol wow
How about "Ceeping Death ?"
Personally I think they should have used '(Anaethsesia) Pulling Teeth' from Kill 'Em All...
Malkovith1 for whom the bell tolls should be here
WatchMojo Top 10 Reasons I'm Pissed My Favorite Song doesn't Get Picked.
Well written. Agreed.
Eh, I always think of lists like this as, well, someone's list. I've gotten too old to argue. I'll still point out that you are wrong, of course.
More like WatchMojo top 10 songs where Queen is going to be either number 1 or 2.
The Fountain of Salmacis by Genesis.
Come as you are >:c
I particularly like how the narrator talks over most of these great bass lines
Needs more Chris Squire, Jack Bruce, and Butler Geezer
Nib by geezer butler tho
That song rocks
Cliff burton shredding bass still takes my breath away.
Most overrated bass player. I love Metallica, but Cliff was more of a guitar than bass player.
zoranhome I see you point, and second that.
Funk is a subgenre of rock? What alternate marvel timeline are you from?
Eric Perry it is though? Have you ever had a music theory/history class?
Funk and rock comes from the jazz music.
I don't think he even played a funk song in this video. All those rock bass parts were great, but why even mention Funk if you're not gonna play any?
@@chazmartin5725 American Life is funk tho?
epin pelaja Some American lives. Others are clearly Sir Nose devoid ofFunk!
I’m glad roundabout and feel good inc were honorable mentions
Another one bites the dust is a lot more iconic, so it’s acceptable
I can’t agree more about No. 1! Queen is my favourite band and Another One Bites the Dust has my favourite bassline
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FUCKING VIDEO
Alex Mason? Is this your real name or do you enjoy the black ops one and two storyline?

what about the chain by Fleetwood Mac
Shadow Fan That one should be #1.
Well, I think they got the number 1 right, but The Chain should be number 2
Amen, where TF is the Chain??
The Chain should easily have been in here and probably number one but hey its Watchmojo what do you expect?
I have watched 3 of these top 10/20 baselines videos now. Not a single mention of the Chain. Ridiculous
3:19 OMFG he actually said that it's has a connection to thrash metal and he also said "headbobbing". that's why people who have no idea about something shouldn't make videos about it
Tony Levin's bass line for "Sledgehammer" is SO unique and powerful.
Some of my favorite bass lines
Another One Bites The Dust-Queen
Can't Stop-RHCP
The Invisible Man-Queen
Breakthru-Queen
Taxman-The Beatles

Project-awesome customs and music Under Pressure 🤗
Queen Rocks, man. John Deacon, best bassist ever.

Lounge Act-Nirvana
Your selection for JPJ are spot on, but I would add The Song Remains the Same. As for Queen, I like the "Millionaire Waltz"
If roundabout is not in here im gonna loose my shit.
Honorable mention, good enough hehe
Chris Squire! These ratings....(:
:), I remember showing the bass score to roundabout to a sight reading Bassist I knew in the early 80's, he was an awesome musician, black dude, Never listened to Yes...He played along for a few seconds and said; "Fuck that shit"! But he became a Yes head when I turned him on to stuff like Sound Chaser or Close to the Edge...
What's bad it Long Distance Runaround isn't there. That's the great Chris Squire doing it. Yeah, Roundabout is there but only as an honorable mention.
MrEmafon4 the only reason why I watched this to see if it is
I'm glad you included some Cliff Burton, but not even a mention of Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)?
I'm not sure bass solos and basslines are the same thing
Actually as much as I love Orion
For whom the bell tolls is actually cliff Burton's masterpiece.
It is a crime not to have hysteria top 5
Wheres is Geezer Butler with N.I.B?
Sebastian Ponce just geezer in general, what about some solitude
Sebastian Ponce
FUUUCKK YEEESSS

Sebastian Ponce ikr
Roundabout deserves a place
Maikol69 .....close to the edge
So does "Good Times" by Chic
Should be nr1
Yes, Yes! Now decide which one is me agreeing and which one is the band's name.
Most DEF!
John Deacon is perhaps the most underrated bassist in rock, I am so glad he took the top spot in this list, he truly deserves it.
he's like probably the least underrated out of all bassists on this list
Yeah he deserves it
@@ddave3388He's like probably the most underrated bassist in music.

Deacon ❤️
I was thinking it would be Deacon but I thought it was going to be Under Pressure but AOBTD has John playing lead so I am guessing that is why that was the chosen song.
No
I thought it was feel good inc but yes that too
Queen bass lines arent that great compared to other legends.
Its freddies charisma and voice what made the band so legendary.

Alex Logan Geezer butler is rather underrated.
i was thinking the same thing
Warning
War Pigs also... Geezer is the man!

Karim Hussami
Rock n Roll, Light Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, the entire Rock genre.

That's more of a solo than a bassline, unless you're talking about the song itself and not the beginning
I love the sound of bass gallop. Awesome!!
So many great songs out there with memorable bass lines. Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith, No More Tears by Ozzy Osbourne, and 40 Six and 2 by Tool are three of my favorites.

John McVie's bassline, in almost any Fleetwood Mac song. But more than any, "The Chain", should be here.
Janine De the chain isn't on here?!? I'm gonna stop watching this video right now
Hysteria anyone?

Or Time is running out, Knights of Cydonia, resistance, the handler, dead inside, liquid state, uno, futurism.

As a veteran drummer it always pisses me off when people and the internet badmouth bass players. Like they are useless or talent-less. The fact is without bass the song would sound extremely thin. You never really notice the huge contribution the bass makes to a piece of music until it is removed.
Thanks for giving us some props
I don't think they're bad mouthed, but under-appreciated. But most people on the Internet don't play any instruments, especially drums or bass
+austindorf83 Agreed. And that's exactly one of the problems with the internet. People talk shit about things they have absolutely no experience with. Then a sheep follows it....then more sheep and more sheep. Before you know it a wide spread ideal has become universal and it's totally false. Of course this happens usually with teens who have almost zero life experience and are just trying to act like they know everything to impress people.
We are the keepers of the groove. Much love and props to my bass a drummer brothers and sisters!
+Elzorrogris74 Yup. And lets me honest here....guitar can make you feel many emotions, but bass and drums is what gets peoples ass shakin and toes tapping. "Brick House" by The Commodores....nuff said. lol.
Hey man, nice shot.
Thank you for this very hot bass documentation. Due to my age I already knew the older bass lines as from John Entwistle, Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, Chris Squire and Roger Waters. I learned a lot of them. By listening and listening trying to copy them. My personal favorites are James Jameson, Donald Duck Dunn and Marcus Miller.
But what really set my on fire was "Another One Bites The Dust". I hat a new stereo equipement and heard the bass for the first time in my life. And that with this incredible hot and groovy bass line of John Deacon. And another favorite from whom I learned a lot, is Donald Duck Dunn. With the Blues Brothers as with Otis Redding as with Eric Clapton. I saw him live in the 80ies with Clapton. But in the mix, the bass was too low. That means, I could see, what he played, but not hear...
I swear if there's Seven Nation army on this list I will write some angry letters.
Seven Nation Army doesn't even have a bassline because the White Stripes have no bass player
Jar Jar Binks are you a Sith Lord
Jar Jar Binks that's to simple

Yeah. The Around the World bass line is what piqued my Chili Peppers interest. But Give it Away? I mean it's good bu it's just muted notes and slides. it's not easy but Flea has bass lines many times more impressive
i would pick aeroplane or higher ground. but the list goes on and on and on
What about Can't Stop?
deep inside a parallel universe...
John Deacon has stated that he was inspired by Good Times (Chic) bassline by the late great Bernard Edwards. Also, Mayor of Simpleton by XTC should have been there.
Honestly, the honorable mentions are better than the list itself
You can pretty much just make a top ten Iron Maiden basslines for its own video.
+KAMbam absolutely (or maybe even a top 50)
