I'm 5'7" too, and trust me when I say, diego is the one who really inspires, bz he showed that its really possible to compete and play at that level without having a superfast serve and many others things. Really glad there's someone I can look upto. Way to go Diego!
Diego isn't really 5'7", he's 5'5.5", but then again a lot of other players on the ATP have inflated heights and even weights listed on the internet. That being said, I'm not much taller than Diego and I played college tennis, but I know exactly how he dominates. It's hard for people who aren't shorter players to fathom because they don't realize that smaller players are generally more agile, can get to low balls more easily, and can work angles on their serves, especially if they have really good slice serves, that give other players problems because of how the ball travels over the net.
diego is a hero. I can only imagine all of the short tennis players who actually have what it takes to go pro (or play really good recreational tennis) who give up because they feel they are fighting an uphill battle. Height matters, but diego is living proof that it isn't the ONLY thing that matters. I think that's incredibly important. Tennis is beautiful sport that rewards many different types of athleticism and skill. I hope diego inspires more representation on tour by the shorter players.
@@thisisjuanhoyos I’m pretty sure Diego’s family is mostly of European Jewish decent though. But yeah on average many Andean nations have shorter national height averages.
@@JordanjamesX The official heights of athletes are generally inflated for some reason. Diego himself said he is shorter than the official height, but I am not sure by how much. Measuring imperial also adds to the issue, as it is much easier to inflate in inches (if you inflate just one inch, it is already 2.5 cm. People inflating in cm usually stick to 1 or 2 cm only).
I felt bad for him last season, played super well in the first half, making deep runs in every tournament but was never able to win one, i think that put him off a bit
Wow, all of today's matches were so aggressive! Beautiful to watch. Schwartzman especially, but all of the matches had shots that I banged the table or some other reaction, in appreciation. A joy to watch
I'm Argentinian and what a way of beating such hard team as the Greek. Tsitsipas is one of tho young players who sure will be in the top of future and Diego defeated him with classy, playing in a high-level.
Diego, YOU ARE SUCH AN INSPIRATION . Your game is so underrated. I think they should be praising your win against Nadal on clay more and more. And here you beat the 3rd best play IN THE WORLD. You clearly deserve to be on top 10, and why not, TOP 5.
In the Poland-Greece match, Hubi was supposed to play against Tsitsipas and Stefanos did not come. The same situation in the Poland-Georgia game .. Basilashvili also decided not to play with Hubi ... Question: were they both afraid of Hubie or what?
is there anything to be afraid of from a guy that loses a set to a player ranked 500+? to be fair tho, Metreveli played a very good first set. as far as i love Hubi, the georgian would've had a very good chance at this match if not his condition cus it's a high jump from playing in itfs to playing versus an top10 player
Don’t get me wrong, Diego is a top player but Tsitsipas is still not fully recovered from his elbow injury and surgery. Otherwise the outcome may have been different. I think it’s still too early for Tsitsipas to return. Especially after having major surgery.
I’m a Novak’s fan, but let Tsisipas alone. RG loss only means Djokovic was better that day. Tsisipas has beaten Djokovic many times, so we should be careful and respect Tsisipas, even when I don’t like Tsisipas’s character at all.
As someone who appreciates and respects Novak the most, Tsitsipas is good as well and we need to respect them. Being the first competition in awhile, especially after a surgery and not having too much training as well, he was doing good.
Krajinovic hit the ball so precise that it passed over the net. We should stop saying those are lucky shots: those are good-enough-shots, and that’s what gets you the win.
Tsitsipas is getting worst every month, he has lost most of his last matches to much weaker players like Schwartzman. Maybe he is, already past his prime...
Clearly Tsitsi isn't playing at his normal level. He just had surgery 6 weeks ago and hasn't had much practice or any match play since AND still managed to win a set. I think he will be ok once he fully recovers.
