Thanks for always giving hints, tips and some of your secrets. Most fisherman keep those pretty guarded. Always look forward to a Premiere.
Thank you! Premiere mornings are always so exciting especially after a trip like this.
Hell yea congratulations Monica that is epic so stoked for you!!!!!
It was so amazing! Definitely something to be celebrated!
Cant wait till my waders arrive and I go and try for surf perch for the first time next week. So looking forward for it. Keep up with these excellent videos Edward.
Good luck out there bro! You’ll get em
Great video. Learned stuff, laughed, and got pumped for the big catches!
Thank you so much! Mission accomplished!
Another banger my dude! Them mandos were chocking the Calissa. Pow!
That’s right brother! That slower retrieve or pause lets em get it good!
Great tips on reading the surf, can’t wait till I go out fishing and see if I can read the surf myself to help me catch some fish👍🏽
It’s really helpful to see the footage from the air so the concepts are reinforced. Makes it easier to recognize from the sand when your walking when you have an idea of what the wave action is telling you.
More lectures on how to read with Aerial Views. I’m new to surf fishing and still trying to read the waves.
Yes! Will do!
Dude you guys killed it on those calissas that was sweet! You guys ate good too... good times! Fish on !
When you can’t be fishing this is the next best thing, really like your channel, almost like being there. Lots of good info too, the drone shots are next level, big thank you.
That’s a huge compliment and an idea we share for sure! Haha these videos help get us through when the bite or conditions aren’t ideal
Huzzah!! Your drone videos really help with understanding part. Great presentation! Thank you! I need to spend as little time as possible getting on the fish so I can maximize the short time I may be able to stay.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice! Can’t wait to see the video. 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thanks brother! Hopefully it cuts the learning curve for a lot of new anglers
Loved all the info in this one and ya hooked some good ones. nice stuff man!
Thanks brother! Have you been out lately?
@@Hook2Cook started up a heavy semester, so it's been some trouble getting to the shore. I'm trying for some local freshwater content when I can but no luck lately. I'll have some content up soon though
Dang OK. One of our guys here locally just caught a striped bass on the Calissa as well. Looks like we might have an early run
Rad stuff, you have that fishery dialed! Amazing insight as well
Much much appreciated! We definitely put in the time and help others benefit from what we’ve learned.
Hook2Cook that’s what it’s all about!
Great episode bro! Structure scouting with drones? Yup this is the future lol. I love drone footage, it's so dope. Fishing near around those rip currents can be productive as it pulls everything back out. Monica is awesome for releasing her first fish on a lure too and her reason why is pure wisdom - balance the numbers. Great work everybody, another great day at the beach. Wonder what you guys will be eating next episode lol jk
Haha yes brother! The drone has become a huge asset. Stoked to be able to give a different view to explain concepts that will translate to different waters. And yes, that was such a sweet moment for Monica... such an honor to capture that in film. 😭 so beautiful! Haha yea they went the the Asian market and went HAM! Lol
Nice lecture
Another great educative vlog. Thanks
You’re welcome and Thanks for the encouraging comment! 👍🏻
Absolutely love your videos sir.
Thanks Larry!
im from Bakersfield and go out to Morro Bay around dog beach and catch a few on the jerk bait, Carolina rig with sandworm, motor oil jig. I saw on your PT 1 video Port San Luis area.. awesome videos
Nice SLABS! The drone footage is super helpful. When the swells go down up here I hope to get out on the surf!
Yea! These same principals should apply. You guys just have to get out a little further into the water than we did 😆
@@Hook2Cook glad I have decent waders!
Great video! I would never eat ether of those! But Insane shots and great insight! Thanks Hook to Cook! Now off to order some Calissas
Thanks brother! Those were tough to eat for sure! The noodles and fish were bomb though! The video after next is even better with a few of the scenes
@@Hook2Cook Can you eat them? Ive seen a lot of recommendations not to eat them due to high levels of toxins. What area was this?
I caught my pb last week out in San Simeon 14” fat perch good video keep them coming
Congrats! Hoping to get on some more good perch soon! Thanks for the compliment!
Just subscribed! We're based out of Arroyo Grande, awesome finding locals on here.
Whoa! I’ve heard about you! One of our local videographers RP3 mentioned you and how you timelapse builds! Haha can’t mistake your name! Thanks bro! Glad you found the channel! Definitely cool to see the central coast represented.
Very Helpful, thank you !
Thanks for the support! Comments like these make it encouraging to continue making videos like this
Woohoo!! Glad I’ll be up and at work for the premiere! Are you going to do a live stream before?
Yessir! Livestream before!
Thank you Ed, But more more more ok ok ok. They are great. videos! Thank You.
This one was special because the people and the things that happened
Where is this at ive been wanting to try surf fishing im in L.A close to the beaches like 20 min drive
Anybody gone down further to Guadalupe beach? I used to catch lots of good quality perches there. Less fishermen too.
Too overwhelmed.. 😂
Hey love your videos keep up the great work. You mentioned Matts from fisherman's life, did he get hurt somehow? I learned how to rock fish from him.
Thanks for the compliment! Super encouraging. Yea he tore his Achilles a little while ago
I wonder why it took RUclips so long to put your videos in my que?
Brilliant work gentlemen!
That’s a huge compliment! Thank you so much! We’re glad you’re enjoying the content!
Hook2Cook
I’ve been following other west coast fishing videos.
I’m moving out there from Arkansas as soon as I sell my place.
We’re heading to the Oregon coast.
Can’t wait to get there!
Lol way to pump yourself up! These videos will definitely help shorten that learning curve
Another dope video! Sucks you lost audio, but it turned out great! Monica seems so cool, all the food looked so good, except the stinky tofu😂. Martin’s 17” perch!!?! Gonna watch his video now!! Ohhh, and cool shoutout to Matts!
Thanks brother! So much cool stuff happened in this one. Predicting Monica’s fish and seeing it all come true was surreal. The fish were far out and she didn’t have waders so reaching them was a challenge. When everything lined up, it was perfect! Lol before that with Martins fish, you could hear him screaming from a mile away! Haha
And yea hopefully Matts gets back out soon.
Hook2Cook man, after I watched your video, I went to martins channel and realized that it was the premier reminder post that I saw. Dammit! 😂😂😂
Lol that’s good! We work together so well it leaves us wanting more episodes!
Wondering if the Calissa will work up in these Oregon surf waters....good looking lures.
If you can find a nice pocket holding fish really close, I am confident you’ll get a taker. The beaches in Oregon seem to be pretty gradual and far generally.
seems like the perch are a lot bigger up your way. I occassionally get a 10 to 12" fish in the summer. Almost no action in the winter, except baby perch right at the water/sand boundry. How far out are you able to cast one of those jerk baits? Haven't been able to get any action on a lucky craft at all; not sure if I am not casting far enough or just can't get the action right as is is tumbling in the waves. Caught a few yellow fin croakers on a small Rapala Husky Jerk back in late fall. Only action recently has been on sand crabs. Drone footage and sketches are great. Thanks
Yellow fin croaker sound fun! We’re very fortunate to have a great perch fishery up here for sure. More arial footage to come for sure.
In regards to casting, we’re maxing our at 60 yards with the right rod and reel. Salmon steelhead rods with a 3000 series reel is ideal for the half oz jerkbait. We have some suggestions on kit.co/hook2cook
What’s the highest lb braid you would put on that okuma Celilo salmon/steelhead 9’6” ml rod? I was thinking the 8’6” m action for stronger braid
30# is optimal
Is that Pismo Beach? Thanks for the schooling, I picked up some knowledge on this Vid...
Yes it’s in the pismo area. Glad you picked stuff up!
We fished south of Morro Bay today and caught some nice fish, but some looked different then the barred perch they were more round and they had a pattern like a crappy. Do you know what they were? If you have a website I can send you pictures
Sure email to edward@hook2cook.net but it sounds like they could be calico perch
Technically is key....thanks
How did you get to the coast? Is it across Lake Oso Flaco? Or is there another way.?
Yes, across the lake, stay on the boardwalk and you’re there
Is that calissas suspending, floating or sinking? I use rapalas a lot for large browns here in oregon...i surf perch quite a bit using gulp sand worms and a lot of berkley rubber minnows.Ive also caught them on trout spinners using a bottom disc sinker with spinner hooked to mainline 18"s up. check out PK YI oregon life...the guy is great
Did yhou ever up buying a Calissa? About to pull the trigger to fish the surf between Cannon Beach and Astoria.
@@debatebore1057 I cannot find any in my local area
What's the set-up? Info on lure, line, rod length etc? Never really surf fished.
This video has all that info hope it helps!

What are the best months for perch fishing on the central coast
Right now. Empty beaches and quality perch... spring is good too
What time is the best time to fish? Im an afternoon guy so it seems like i dont catch anything
Generally mornings are better because it’s usually less wind so it’s much more fishable but if afternoon is what you got, get it!
Where are you that allows drones to scout fishing or hunting areas? We here in Oregon are restricted from using drones to scout fishing or hunting areas.
Haven’t seen a rule against it yet... maybe something to look into.
@@Hook2Cook I would check into it, hopefully it's ok in Cali. By the way I grew up fishing Ventura, Santa Barbara, up and down the coast.
so according to what you said... We should cast where there is a lot of foam?
Lots of foam adjacent to deep troughs
@@Hook2Cook we just need to get on the sand with you and watch 👀 how you guys get it done 🎣
hey can you give info on what size rod to buy? thanks
We have everything recommended at kit.co/HOOK2COOK but look for around 10ft medium light. Salmon steelhead rod. Around 1/4-1oz casting rating
What size rods and line are you all using?
9’6” salmon rod rated to 1/2oz with 30# braid equivalent to 8lb mono
where ya'll at though? This doesn't look like the bay area
central coast
Great video! What beach is that?
Thank you so much for the compliment. Super encouraging. This is oceano ca.
@@Hook2Cook Thanks. You'll be at 10,000 subs in no time.
what state you guys are fishing?
California central coast
Noice!!!!!
😂
Buy buena pesca
Fun that day
Yea it was! Is this Lat?
Hook2Cook oh yeah lol
Are you guys fishing in Pismo?
Yes that’s the area.
@@Hook2Cook Nice! Im originally from Fresno grew up going to the coast with the family there for summer vacation. I try and take my dad out there couple times a year. We just did a trip to Morro Bay beginning of Jan. for his birthday. Should be back out your way in the next month or so to spend more time with him. I'll give you a shout next time I'm headed out your way. Maybe we could meet up n get a line wet or if you ever in the SF bay area and want to fish hit me up well get you some striper or some hali's.
Cheers -Rusty 🤙
Fishin' on the bay thanks Rusty! That’d be really dope to connect! What date next month will you be here? Shoot over a dm on Instagram @hook2cook805
@@Hook2Cook waiting to hear back from my pops to lock down a date. I'll hit you on IG.
Can you tilling me know ok please 👍 🙏?
Come again?
Just one more inch and it would’ve been a record!
Hopefully we catch one like that in spring when it’s super fat and heavy. Record is almost 5lbs!
Good stuff! No tofu though🤢
Yea.... once was good enough... or maybe it’s an acquired taste... maybe someone got bored from eating a lot of normal tofu? 🤷🏻♂️

Most annoying youtube feature that will be gone eventually "Premiering".
Why is that?
I think “premiere” is an awesome feature that allows the content creators to connect with their viewers and subscribers.🤙
