The wall is my first musical memory from my dad playing it on vinyl. I think he was struggling himself but constantly worked and provided for our family. He did sit in the dark at times and drink and listen to this album and hiding behind his own wall. Years later I did the same. Thankfully we both overcame our problems and saw roger perform it numerous times between 2011-13. Nevertheless this album will stand head and shoulders over anything else due to how it relates to me. “Does anybody else in here, feel the way I do?” Love to all ❤️
"When i was a child i caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child is grown, The dream is gone. I have become comfortably numb." Has to be one of the most beautiful parts of a song ever written.
I remember listening to this for the first time, just after it’s release. My cousin Shawn bought it first and we sat in his room for the weekend listening to it over and over on the turntable . A portable at that . It was MAGIC . Like that feeling , you know , like your thinking has changed and your mind has opened . It’s Pink Floyd all the time.
my mom died to this song in the hospice. Favorite band of all time. RIP momma. I'll never forget you today. thank you for showing me this great band when I was young ♥
My brothers favorite band was pink Floyd. He went to heaven on 3/22/16, 23 years old. This reminds me of him so much, my heart hurts. Fly high Jacob. We will be together again 💙 I love you brother. Never give up
iix Aero not another group even can touch the emotion that is evoked like these guys....this is musical perfection in every sense of the word. BEST EVER ALL TIME COLABORATION.....just happy I was a part of the generation who loved and embrace it still. Words dont do these gods justice!!!!
I know what you mean. I have been feeling very badly lately; suicidal in a way I have never experienced. I have been uncomfortably numb. Listening to The Wall broke the dam holding in all my feelings. I have been listening and crying and just having music that emotes for me and puts my feelings to words so well is the relief from pain I needed.
In 1942, Vera Lynn recorded a song “We’ll Meet Again,” Considered one of the most beloved songs of the World War II era, “We’ll Meet Again” has since been covered by a range of artists from the Byrds to Barry Manilow, and was put to brilliant, ironic use during the final scene of Stanley Kubrick’s satiric masterpiece Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. With its message of hope and loving reunion, the song became an instant favorite for soldiers leaving their loved ones behind, as well as those sending their fathers, brothers and sons off to war, uncertain if they’d make it back alive.
My Father sounds just like David Gilmour when he sings and he can play all the Pink Floyd songs on his guitar 🎸 totally awesome 👏 he got me into Pink Floyd, thank you Daddy ❤️
Nobody Home. This song just holds me in such an embrace, when I'm at my lowest point. Especially the line "I got wild, staring eyes and a strong urge to fly....but I got nowhere to fly to." So I curl up in my isolation & cling to this song through it. Like reading a book takes you on a vacation in your chair, Pink Floyd takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride in that same chair. My heart just beats to the song & I breathe. And I Have Become Comfortably Numb.
I was always fond of, “Got a Grand Piano to prop up my mortal remains.” Like, I’m literally pouring my life out into this work, knowing that it’s unhealthy, but not being able to stop. Love ya friend.
@@milesteg8183 yes, Roger is a lyrical genius. He's my favorite-hands down. The feeling of how he has so much to give, yet there he is, alone. Another song that touches me like that is The Final Cut.

I love the way he sings the words, "Vera...what has become of you?" it shows the importance of the "Englishness" that she embodied during the war, and indeed today, to the English Psyche
Roger Waters was introduced to me by my Aunt when I was only 8 years old, I watched The Wall over and over again. Every time I play a Roger Water's song, it's a life experience that I reflect on. Thank you Roger
this album changed my life, what a great album. best line of the album does anyone in hear feal the way I do, wow the sense of loneliness and despair in that line really heavy.shame I didn't truly understand "comfortablely numb" as a kid. at 44 I get it now and unfortunately have achieved it.
Its true at some point u go numb and its painful, but then eventually from so much constant pain, the pain becomes numb too, and your comfortable with it. Comfortably Numb. We haven't achieved it brother, weve been cursed with it.
No downtuned distorted guitars, no dissonant chords, no extreme vocals, no swear words even - yet this is one of the most heartbreaking song set ever. Saying as depressed nu metal fan. It doesn't beat you with horrible imagery - it goes deeper, introverted and introspective - how you feel suffering, how you reflect on it - which makes it universal, applicable to many different situations, relatable regardless of what you're suffering from. And it doesn't try to be edgy and cool and poetic - no, it is rather simple and realistic reflections of a realistic human being which makes everything even more relatable. They say that genius is in simplicity - and they are right.
BRING THE BOOOOOOYS BACK HOOOOOME!!! I recall an interview with all the crew and, I have nothing against Gilmoour, but it seems he really understimated that theme (bring the boys back home)... However, this pack of songs, altogether, are just amazing like they were a 4 movement sonata or something. Then I had the opportunity to attend a Roger Waters concert and he played an extra-extended version of 'bring the boys back home' and the crowd went crazy... It's a damn good song!
Comfortably numb has one of.the greatest guitar solos of all time in my opinion. That's what made me pick up a guitar at age 8. Been playing over 30 years now and still love to play that solo. Never gets old. Wish I could write like that ,not to be famous or wealthy, but just to be able to reach into my soul and play what I feel. Easier said than done for me. Thanks for the inspiration!!!!
I said that very thing, greatest guitar solo I heard til that point in my life.Except I didn't say one of...IMO it IS the greatest guitar solo til that point in musical History.
+PlanTonto It's a cool little piece of history, but it kinda bummed me out when I learned that she was real. I'd rather imagine her as the Soldier's love interest pre-war, who had long since moved on with her life, in contrast to the armed forces, who returned to find an unfamiliar world and unfamiliar people.
Buy the album. Buy a record player. Put it on. Turn it up to maximum. Lay on the floor in the exact centre. Close your eyes and experience Pink Floyd the way it truly should be experienced. It will blow your mind
I have probably watched the movie close to 100 times. A friend had it on laser disc when it came out and we watched over and over through our high school days and I have a digital copy and continue watching it a couple of times a year even now. So amazing.
We were shown the movie in high school back in 87. Psychology class, late afternoon. Had to analyze the character. Maybe some acid passed around. Those who MIGHT have taken it had aced the exam.
Has anyone else made such deeply sad and moving music? Easily one of the best albums and works of art of all time. 70s and 80s were such creative times. This story is a great portrait of the life of an artist and what they have to go through. It will be lost on many people.
Man, I wish they put "When the Tigers Broke Free" on this album. It was such an integral part of Roger's emotional catharsis regarding the loss of his father, something every one of these tracks displays.
You know how tired you get of some songs??? We'll not these!!! All 4 go so perfectly together. Love all Vera and Bring the boys back home just beautiful. Thanks for everything. Peace

I have seen this movie well over 20 times and i haven't yet stopped! Admittedly, i no longer watch it every weekend like i did when it first came out :)
Im 44 years old, and Pink Floyd is still the greatest inspiration in my entire life. Unlike others in my life, and even some in PF themselves, I never grew up. I kept my open, loving childlike mind my entire life. And as this disease eats me physically, I remain knowing that my life was a success. For in the end, I brought much more joy, than I caused pain in this world. And that... THAT is the only true measure of life.
This album can make me relaxed, rock out, and cry all in its entirety. Truly a musical not just an album. Nobody home into Vera followed by Bring the boys back home has me in tears and i can't explain it. followed by one of the greatest rock songs of all time. jut incredible. Born in '93, saw the wall with my father and uncle a few years ago and was overwhelmed with emotion. have seen hundreds of live performances but nothing can compare to the wall show. it is a life changing show.
Best band ever by a country mile , there’s levels to music & this should & will be remembered in 3000 years. Kids will grow up appreciating this also💪🏻
My mother introduced me Pink Floyd music when I was a little child. I remember she enjoyed the elicopter part very much. During my teenage years she bought the DVD and I fell in love with the band more. Now I'm listening to them alone, 'cause my mother died to breast cancer two years ago. Every song reminds me of her, every little moment we sang and dance these wondeful songs. Can't stop to cry. Sorry for my bad english. Love to all.
I just got a little black book with poems written on the cover tattooed on my hand. Probably the strongest tie emotionally out of all my other tattoos. These 4 songs on repeat for hours with my father fixing the house up on weekends. Some of the happiest times in my life…
Like Pink Floyd, there will never no other! Their music and their live shows are like no other! I've seen them live in concert and their laser shows are Bad Ass! I was fortunate to see them once in my whole life ,I'm 54 now and to this day I remember that Concert, The Wall Live! ❤
When I was 16 me & my then girlfriend would lay together in a Christmas light lit room listening to The Wall while the snow fell outside. I'm 40 years now and even though it was a lifetime ago it still feels like yesterday somehow.

Why do I get the feeling that 2-300 years from now, mankind will still be listening to Pink Floyd, like we do today with the music of Mozart and Beethoven with the same thoughts about their greatness within their era.
This is the best stretch of the entire record. When Nobody Home starts, you know you've hit the darkest and most depressing part of the whole album.
One of My Turns and Don't Leave Me Now were quite depressing...

For in the end, I brought much more joy, than I caused pain in this world. And that... THAT is the only true measure of life.
These songs get stuck in my head so easily
An amazing intersection of Floyd and Vera Lynn fans here today.
We could use Vera Lynn more now than ever.
I like The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon equally and for different reasons.
And Wish You Were Here is the perfect campfire album to listen to.
And animals?
we can be friends.
I love the final cut.....
Yeah and animals.... I was just listening to dogs walking the dog earlier. Very ironic.
The incredible valor displayed by the soldiers in the world wars brings me to tears at times, to think of the devastation.
Kids will grow up appreciating this also💪🏻
Hope you had a very happy 100th Birthday "the Forces' Sweetheart"............Vera
Bring the Boys Back Home and end all wars
70 years old and still listening and loving Pink Floyd. Yes, even Sid Barrett, may he be resting and finally at peace.
This was the first flyod album I ever listened through all the way through. 12 years later it's still just as incredible.
Ever since I saw the film, I love it so much, never got tired of watching it time after time.
Jesus the guitar solo on comfortably numb gives me goosebumps
Which one? There are two of them!
One of the most underrated guitarists ever, David gilmour.
This is my favorite piece of music ever composed. Its perfect it has every emotion and it beautiful.
RIP Vera, you brought us through. We'll meet again one day.
true British woman
These are ones of the songs that make you wanna just cry.
+Bára Křepínská And the way Roger Waters sings them puts even more emotion to them. Very powerful and full of sorrow.

+Bára Krepínská

This medley is near perfect.
It is if you ask me. Only thing that tops it is Speak to Me/Breathe/On The Run if you ask me
Well, don't leave my Vulva hanging, what Would make it Perfect?
Lola Flores LOL!
+Brenno Mulder so good...
Nearly? Come on, just say it
I have not been able to stop listening to this album for, about two weeks or so... Straight
I knew a guy in college who announced he EDITED The Wall to fit it onto a cassette. We're still friends, but he's never heard the end of it.
One of the best comments I've ever read
Pink Floyd was the only relief I got when my mum passed away, whenever the music stopped the black clouds rolled back in.
does anybody else in this comment section feel the way I do about Floyd.... √√

Yet more reasons to listen to the Floyd! RIP vera.
The best concert I have seen second to none. Light show amazing, music amazing and encore senfknsational!!
When I was 16 me & my then girlfriend would lay together in a Christmas light lit room listening to The Wall while the snow fell outside. I'm 40 years now and even though it was a lifetime ago it still feels like yesterday somehow.
R.I.P Dad, he introduced me to Pink Floyd when I was a kid, and I've been listening to them ever since.
Love it
VERAAA VERAAAAAA
some Sunny day!!
Raise your hand if you know who Vera Lynn is, or what this lyric is referring to.
@@hyedenny she's a British singer who sang White Cliffs of Dover I think that was the name of this song among others during World War II if she is alive and I think she is she would probably be about 100 years old
Nobody home is one of the most underrated songs in the album
In their discography*
I've got a strong urge to fly but I got nowhere to fly to brilliant
"Nobody home is one of my all time favorite songs. Brings me back to my confused youth. I had wide staring eyes...
The story of Syd Barrett is truly a sad one. Any artist can relate to Syd.
Just got into these guys the past year.at 55 yrs old.awesome works.much respect.echoes at Pompeii is the real deal.great jams.
My childhood soundtrack 🎼👍💖
Everybody stay safe 😷
Why do I get the feeling that 2-300 years from now, mankind will still be listening to Pink Floyd, like we do today with the music of Mozart and Beethoven with the same thoughts about their greatness within their era.
It sure as hell won't be Kanye or Taylor Swift
