@@KingZarathus I like them so much I've started collecting them I have a blue purple orange green\black white green red The only ones I'm missing are the pink one the light blue one and the ebonite ones
The ultra flex is easily one of my faves as well. I have mine on a Noodler’s Ahab. I have a vintage crescent fill Conklin from the ‘20’s with a killer flex nib. The FPR ultra flex nib is very similar to it, honestly.
Great explanation of this! I needed it. Do you have any experience with Monteverde or Conklin Omni-flex nibs? I’ve been very disappointed with them, but it’s possible I’ve been doing it wrong. I’ll have to try again with this information in hand. By the way, the writing portion of this video was absolutely mesmerizing!
For what it’s worth…I doubt you’re doing anything wrong. My experience with the Monteverde OmniFlex nib has been less than enjoyable. It actually turned out to be a gateway nib for me. I ended up customizing it a bit so it would actually flex, and smoothed it out a little. For a moment there, I swore I was going to be a nibmeister...
Don’t use pigment ink in fountain pens? I use it all the time! Quite a few manufacturers make pigment fountain pen ink. Pilot, Bungubox, Sailor and Platinum just to name a few.
Ahab was my first flex pen and I was so disappointed. It doesn't flex. It's overhyped for its horrible unflexiness. Just save your money for vintage flex pens but practice flexing with dip nibs first or brush.
Great video , Thank you for educating pen community. I certainly appreciate it.
Might I suggest a Fountain pen revolution himalaya with an ultra flex nib they are so soft steel nibs that are amazing at line variation :)
This was my first flex nib (and first fountain pen) and it's still one of my favorites to use.

@@MummyBrown I like my fpr ultra flex nib on the Konrad for easy priming of ink
I just had to see you just now while a bogo deal is on for the himalaya v2... fuck you dude. Not really, but still fuck you. 😅
Great tips! Im just starting with my first flex fountain pen nib and will apply these to keep it in good condition 😊
Excellent- almost makes me want to go down the rabbit-hole of flex nibs.
Very nice. Thanks Aidan.
Content King 🙌

I too have been very disappointed with the Conklin Omni-flex I bought. I love the pen it's on, just not that flex nib.
@@KingZarathus exactly! And I’m a huge fan of Monteverde, so I expect better. Love their broad and stub nibs, though.
