Flawless execution! I can barely tell this from the studio recording from “Kojiki”! The tempo, the note length, everything was dead on target to the original Kitaro recording. The guitar piece is a little different, but very good! I listen to this song multiple times a week, so I know it inside and out, and this is simply impressive!
Thank you! I listened to 'Koi' countless times as well and it is one of my favourites pieces especially the 'live' versions. Oh, this is great! I didn't think that Roland JUNO-106 could simulate the sound of the KORG 700S, which is said to be a famous machine. I used to use the JUNO-106 before, but as a lead synthesizer, it was not so good. But looking at this track you made, I think it's as good as the 800DV.
Yes, very surprised by the sound the Juno can create. Yes the juno is polyphonic and meant to be used for that purpose. This is until you mentioned about pulse wave at 40%, and the results are good. I tried it out when I first saw the news and it was a good 1 hour at least playing with the new found sound. Hahaha! I think most synthesizers pulse wave can achieve this sound with a good delayed vibrato (LFO), correct ADSR and a volume pedal.
@@ltpstan As you say, the JUNO-106 is a polyphonic synthesizer, not a lead synth. I used the JUNO-106 under such stereotypes, so I believed this synth was not suitable for playing reeds. No, as long as you hear the tone you made, the JUNO-106 also produces a fairly thick lead tone. Isn't it necessary to turn off that characteristic chorus effect to create this kind of sound?
@@dikochi690311 yes agreed. The intented design for the Juno 106 was for more notes, but also, they give an option to select monophonic setting, combining all 6 voices at 1 time. Yes, even the single square wave has a thick lower end compare to the 800DV. The Juno 106 can give the sound with some weight to it. For Kitaro's lead sound, it was only the square/pulse oscillator with the chorus turned off.
@@ltpstan I should have tried it before I broke my own JUNO-106. My 106 was completely ruined in reverse when I tried to fix that famous custom chip failure on my own (lol). Not to be discouraged, I'll try it with JUNO-6 next time. Thank you very much.
@@dikochi690311 That is not good news. I did not remove the epoxy for the voice chips, but I am not sure if it will be future proof. Juno 6 I believe will give a weightier sound. @@ltpstan Yeah. I wonder if you can get that kind of sound or the sounds of the 800dv on the new Prologue analog synth Korg makes now. If you could get sounds of both of those vintage synths, plus lots of other kinds of sounds and play full chords on it that might be the way to go.
