Right. And he didn't start out paying lobbyists. At first, he tried to attend public hearings and giving testimony until he learned how the system works. It's really hard to do politics in the US, even if you support a good cause, without throwing heaps of money at it as well.
Louis Rossmann is a stand up guy. The fact he attended this event to finally meet his nonprofit's biggest donor, and then stayed as a panellist once he discovered exactly how botched it was says two things: Firstly, he really believes in his cause, and secondly he must be a lot more relaxed now he's out of New York! Even if what Muta said about him being paid to be there was true, knowing what Louis is like, I'd have absolutely no issue with that.
Apparently he got the dosh 18 months before this event was even announced. According to him, he only showed up because the guy who gave a million to get his nonprofit off the ground was an attendee and he wanted to say thanks in person. Even if the cash was attached to showing up, though, putting on the clown nose and honking for a day is well worth the price of getting that much to an important cause like this.
I sub to Louis Rossman and he's helping to lead for the right to repair the products you own which corporations were and still are trying to deny the owner of their products the right to fix their own stuff or go to a third party and not to the manufacturer that will tell you it can't be fixed but will sell you another for $500 when you could fix it for $20. Louis is doing some good stuff. People need to pay attention to what he does.
He also makes some pretty good content where he just shares his thoughts on things. His insights on building a business and the decline in New York real estate are pretty interesting
The way I read Louis' comment, the crypto-billionaire backing the futa organization (and the festival) had previously donated 1 million to his non-profit, independent of this. Which I also think makes a bit more sense, paying 1 mill for a single appearance seems a bit much.

That's because it started as a food thing. That's how most of us stored it and didn't think much beyond the implications of what it means to be vegan. Not sure if pesticide count 🤔😝
@@PlanetJeroen As a vegan, you'll probably hear mixed opinions, but it's not supposed to be that nitpicky imo. I don't squash little buggies for fun but also like mosquitoes and roaches are NOT welcome in this house. I don't grow my own food so I'll just take what I can get tbh. Also pesticide concerns aren't exclusively by vegans, but but environmentalists and human rights activists as well. You can try shopping organic if they are really concerning for you, though I forget the degree of which the certification label actually means something. I don't grow my own food so I try not to be too picky about produce. Anyway good vegan shoes means you will almost always be paying a much higher markup for a less durable shoe sadly, synthetic leathers can be made decently but will not compare to animal leathers. Pros and cons; I'm not opposed to thrifting higher end leather shoes (or just outright buying leather shoes if your field of work demands it - it's not a vegan world so you just have to make do). Maybe in the future things would be different but until then it's whatever I guess. But yeah veganism isn't just food (that's why people created the term plant-based), but it's also clothes, toiletries, makeup etc. It's one of those "just do your best" situations really, the world is complicated enough as it is.
the new editing style looks great but im kinda missing the regular “muta talks to the camera and then sometimes shows something on the screen” style. the cuts to stock footage and the music was a bit distracting imo, esp when it would stop for like 20 seconds then start up with snare hits
Hey Muta, great content the video is great so far. One issue I've found is the background music kind of overpowers your voice at times so I'd say next time you use a bed just bring it back a touch so it never matches your level.
I dont understand who this was for. Glinks audience are speedrunners and center to right leaning politics people, and this event has nothing to cater to either. Who in their right mind would advertize boogie beside "engineers and artists", whats the crossover between literally any of these communities. Even if it wasnt a mess and everyone showed up and was properly invited and paid... who tf was this for, how would a profit be made, what is the point? Im sure glinks audience would love destiny, random assorted online artists in a panel, impressionist dance, boogie, or any of that. He literally is delusional, he just took whatever seemed vaguely snobish topics he could and shoved them in to feed his ego rather than having a really vision. This entire thing is an egotrip, probably drug fueled. Not even glink understood his own vision
It really bugged me that when Glink called youtubers like idubbbz sellouts because he ended up having different beliefs than when he used to. Glink’s Lightwave disaster somehow reminds me of coachella festival fiascos and Jason Russell’s Kony 2012 movement aftermath. Both events were spectacularly advertised before the actual event day and ended up being poorly organized with controversies surrounding actual validity of promises made by the event organizers, which was what lightwave festival had receipted in similar criticisms.
Really shows the duality, one is supposed to be an interesting event that was never heard of because its marketing plan was so bad and the other is an event that was blown out of proportion and ended up becoming something that has nothing of value other than memorable.
Hmmm... I don't get the "problem" of having a panel talking about dethroning youtube just because it's been done before. Or that alternatives already exists. The more attention and discussion surrounding the monopolies of the tech-giants, the better. They were basically rehashing the talking points of the issue in a laidback manner. Stuff that should be repeated as often as possible to make more and more people aware of how dystopian the current situation really is. How that is related to the event having organisational issues is beyond me.
Really just goes to show how easy it is to criticize from the outside compared to actually getting in and trying to accomplish a con. Stuff like Furfest, people tried their hardest but don't realize how hard it actually is to get a convention tip top.

Came from Louis Rossman’s channel, don’t know any of these people but seems they all have weird names and tried to make money off another scam festival
I don't get the impression that Rossman went to the event for the million dollars. I think he was getting the million dollars anyway and coming out there to meet with this person, and the guy asked him to stop by this place as a random side event that he was planning on being at.
I remember he did a YT video about how Vidcon is bad for your kids and he was going around asking girls (who were clearly under the age of 18) how old they were. And when they responded that they were minors, he just walks away, as if he didn't want to associate with a minor to begin with lol. It was so fucking awkward and weird.
It's probably bad due to new covid variants but anyways the guy has apparently become a wing nut conspiratheorist so it's not surprising if they were talking some verbal garbage since forever
Just gonna say, IDK about them, but government intervention contradicts a free market, if you believe government needs to stop monopolies, you're violating competition and free market principles, monopolies and corporations were devised and instilled by governments, not solved by them, that's not the government's job, it doesn't know how to operate a market at all, and its not supposed to make the market fair of balanced nor competitive, it has no jurisdiction over the market.
How is right to repair anti consumerism? It is literally the fight to actually own our devices. You of all people should be fighting for right to repair.

According to him, he only showed up because the guy who gave a million to get his nonprofit off the ground was an attendee and he wanted to say thanks in person. Even if the cash was attached to showing up, though, putting on the clown nose and honking for a day is well worth the price of getting that much to an important cause like this.
He was wrong about glink too
I sub to Louis Rossman and he's helping to lead for the right to repair the products you own which corporations were and still are trying to deny the owner of their products the right to fix their own stuff or go to a third party and not to the manufacturer that will tell you it can't be fixed but will sell you another for $500 when you could fix it for $20. Louis is doing some good stuff. People need to pay attention to what he does.

I dunno why but when I hear "vegan shoes" I laugh my ass off.
Same here 🤣
That's because it started as a food thing. That's how most of us stored it and didn't think much beyond the implications of what it means to be vegan. Not sure if pesticide count 🤔😝
If everyone were vegan the ecosystem would collapse and we would have to cull almost all of the livestock currently on the planet.
Just sayin'
Have you tried vegan sausages? The shoes look pretty tasty by comparison.

I dont understand who this was for. Glinks audience are speedrunners and center to right leaning politics people, and this event has nothing to cater to either. Who in their right mind would advertize boogie beside "engineers and artists", whats the crossover between literally any of these communities.
