10 years later I still come back to this. I met Mayer in NYC years ago and we talked about this song/video. He was very proud of the song and the team that brought it all to life. Simpler times
I love this video. That spot right at the beginning is where everybody used to line up for the warped tour on the pier. Such an amazing time in my life and memories that I can never replicate
This video has three things I love: I am a big Mayer Hawthorne fan, I love the city of San Francisco and I got major love for skateboarding. This video kicks monster ass and this rendition of a classic song is why I stay a Mayer Hawthorne fan.
this video is quality SF is a beautiful city with very unique and beautiful people that live there. this video captured the originality of the city and the song perfectly matched
one word to describe this... TIMELESS, it's an absolute breath of fresh air for the music scene of today, I salute you stones throw, and Mayer Hawthorne for understanding what music truly is :)
The unusual juxtaposition of jazz and skateboarding is what makes this video especially superb, and even though he sings of the golden sun, I think the overcast skies and cloudiness in much of the video add to the sort of longing and nostalgia of the song.
I've always thought San Francisco seemed like on of the most beautiful and funnest places to skate. San Francisco footage always puts a smile on my face.
I love the song and the video. The whole is just magic!! I would never believed that skateboard and jazz music blend together so well the mix is just very surprisingly beautiful, and also I love the melancholy that contains the song mixed with the video... I cannot explain it moves me that's all....
I'm 35 years old and I still skate to sounds like this. Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra and Dino. I guess as I've gotten older and found the finesse of riding vert and street it soothed and makes me smoov. It's got a groove and soul that gives one a break from all that your face hoobla... it's legit and I can dig it. Stripped down to the soul and I ride that way too. Peace out yo! And slide on... (oldtimer)
I Love San Francisco , been travel there in 2016 ,One of the best city that I’ve been to ! listen this song ,calm my anxiety depression and remind me the best memories in SF before Covid crash
Idk if I've said this before, and I don't feel like looking, but this video is amazing, just the way the slow music correlates with the slow motion skating is just sick
do ya thang mayer....its always nice flying back to the bay....once u get to where u can see the bridges and the water....19 hours....but u know ur back home!
i swear stone throws is the best record label ever. they have the GOAT or rap, MF DOOM, they have 2 of the greatest hip hop producers of all time, j dilla and mad lib and they have mayer hawthrone who is one of the only jazz artist of this day and age and a great one at that
Yo comment may be 2 years old but you're super naive thinking this guy is "one of the only jazz artists of this day and age" there are an absolute shit load.
I like this..nice relaxing music. What other songs sound like this? Those songs that sound nice when sipping hot tea on a couch with a warm blanket ontop in a dim light?
I always come back to this.
me too!
Me too, me too.

We are here, just like the song.
Still do
how could you not like this? Mayer Hawthorne has to be one of the most talented DJ/SINGER song writer today... YEAA DJ HAIRCUT! lol!
I used to skate EMB before Pier 7 even existed. Those WERE the days. Good times I will never forget. Thank you San Francisco.
Pretty mesmerized by this.. It's like the music allows your mind to enter the video and not realize it was playing until it ends
dude u must be high

Beautiful rendition and perfect voice for the song
What a voice! Reminds me a little of Michael Buble but Mayer's voice reaches those low and high notes that make him unique. Well done!

Wonderful video. Mayer's performance is charming, and the skateboarders are so graceful.

great cover, Mayer. I think I have a small crush on you.
So serene watching the skateboarders to the music
Thank u HUF and everyone who contributed to this
Really great Cover! I swear Mayer has a talent he can hear like a 70s soul singer in Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out to a 50s/60s era crooner in this song!!
