Given who he was talking to, it was lucky he introduced himself as Lord Athelstan.

I'm amazed there are people in industry that don't already know that

Also it’s the fact that no matter what someone says, we are all a smidge parasocial with whatever streamer we watch. We spend hours upon hours watching and chatting with them so when they recommend stuff, we are more inclined to believe it’s actually a good product because of the perceived relationship bias we have with them. Versus some random disconnect voice on a tv that I’m going to forget about in 5 seconds. I don’t have any emotional attachment to a random voice over guy who is trying to sell me random stuff so I’m less likely to buy it. But if my favorite streamer recommends that same product I’m more likely to check it out and buy it because I trust them and put a little more stock into their words.

Falling for ads from a "random voice-over" or from your "parasocial streamer" is both equally cringe. In fact it's event worse when its from the streamer, because now you're not justifying the product's qualities by itself, but justifying it through giving your money to a streamer who is living in FAR BETTER living conditions than you ever will
