It was nicely refreshing having a villain who countered moves, instead of doing pretty much anything else like blocking, parrying, kicking, punching, grappling, etc. Not saying this is bad, except Nobu is the only villain I've seen that actually did counterattacks.
People tend to forget Nobu isn't a regular human being. His physical strength is definitely above that of a regular human and so is his agility/reflexes. The fact that he has a century of combat experience, shows how much of good fighter daredevil is.
This show's continuity is absolutely amazing and really sets the bar for tv, even to this day. In this first encounter, you see a very raw Matt who in the first season is moderately experienced in intense combat, but as each season progresses, he gets more and more better. He makes so many mistakes in this fight than he never allows to ever happen again. His technique gets even sharper and expansive, more refined, his strength and speed literally increases with each fight, to the point Nobu has no answer for him in the second season.
@@Yoriichi_Tsugikuni___somehow I don't think he would've minded if it sliced matt right open. Matt was pulling down on the chain as he was being dragged that's the only reason it didn't tear him up more. Not really nobu's courtesy.

Daredevil is probably one of the best superhero TV series, I've ever watched. It was so grounded and contained in a way that made it seem realistic. I can compare it to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy.
Getting sliced to ribbons like that mid fight is beyond brutal. Matt is tough as hell to be able to keep fighting despite getting slashed and stabbed half a dozen times.
This fight made Daredevil one of my favorite superheroes ever. He embodies willpower better than any other hero I can think of. Goddamn… why’d they have to cancel such a badass show?
Kingpin walking in is like when in Boss Battles the Boss just Regains a ton of HP for round 2 and you're just sitting there with no extra Lives or heals left
This is how Scorpion should be in movies and in video games aswell using his kunai chain whip more often cause you know Hanzo is a master of the kunai fighting style in all of Japan.
I'm in my late 40s and I dang near squealed like a girl when Nobu showed up in his red ninja outfit. Seeing as how Daredevil hadn't even gotten a proper costume yet at this point, I really didn't think they'd go full Hand... but they did. And it's awesome!
I've always thought that this fight would be the perfect template to follow for portraying Scorpion in live action. I know it's not exactly realistic, but I think it's the perfect middle ground between realism and total ridiculous fantasy. The recent movie did a good job too, but this is still my favorite quasi portrayal of what Scorpion would look like in battle.
true blue Nobu damn near killed Daredevil in season 2. He took on Elektra too. Had she not interfered, Matt would have been dead and there wouldn’t have been a Defenders mini series.
@@EccentricTalks I am aware. My issue is that the story in the second half of season 2 got pretty poor. As a result Nobu as the season 2 villain was very underwhelming and the Hand became boring.
Man it's crazy to see this fight scene knowing that Matt eventually gets the red suit later on. He was incredibly vulnerable in this fight and correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we ever see him get this bloody and slashed up in S2 or S3.
Nope. Matt learned a LOT in season 1 and 2. In season 3 he's physically WRECKED from Midland Circle collapsing on him, but he's still far better than where he was in both of the previous seasons. Although his physical damage slowed him and Bullseye messed his ass up on multiple occasions, this being that Matt had never dealt with anyone who was so accurate with anything he got his hands on.
@@thexskating With bullseye it never was a propper 1 on 1 like here, always matt had someone to protect while fighting him or was still recovering from his past injuries
They made the Hand look cool in this season, and than they kept making them worse and worse in following seasons to the point they were a joke in the Defenders.
Agreed but i can't blame the directors cause they said that everyone was making their own version of the hand on each show, which is very dissapointing, they should've planned how it was going to be from the start and should've put the dude that directs daredevil to direct defenders, just sayin
Don't know why but part of this fight was pulled from Netflix. The part where nobu pulls out his weapon as well as some of the fighting before it and after was cut. In Netflix it goes from the beginning when Daredevil doesn't land a blow, to Karen and Foggy drunk in the bar, when it cuts back to daredevil he is already hooked with the weapon and being pulled.
Dude ok I thought I was tripping. I went to grab a snack and saw they were in the middle of fighting so I rewinded it thinking I missed the beginning but they cut it out. So lame
One thing I liked about this show is how grounded it felt. Most shows would show the hero get hurt but defeat the villain and go home without a bruise. Matt gets utterly destroyed and sliced to bits before he takes out Nobu.
Funny; I think this is "Kagenobu Yoshioka" aka The Founder Of The Hand, from Elektra's comics "The Hand" 2004. Although, this version I'm pretty sure is "Kirigi" in the comics. Same garment and weapon used against Elektra in the comics.
This fight must be the only one I've truly winced in any of the Marvel fights. Well except from Punisher ones I guess. Dd trying to run away stumbling toward the end was especially brutal to watch. Loved it, this is what a fight should be like.
It’s crazy dd had so much trouble the first time he fought nobu and every other big fight sequence (not counting the underground blood laboratory one in season 2) when he fights nobu he destroys him. Love these fight scenes and this show
The Best Jedi Oh dude you you’re missing out. Long story short the court of owls are a group of rich people working behind the scenes in Gotham City. They use deadly assasins called talons. Which are undead super soldiers to do their bidding. I recommend you go google them.
Saheteraba Kutisha this is a bit late but (at least in the marvel shows) the hand is more similar to the court of owls in terms of influence, but more like the league in a mystical sense (existing since ancient times and resurrections)
This reply is late, but I would say that while the League of Assassins, Court of Owls, and the Hand are similar in certain ways, they are all very different. The Hand is a cult of ninja assassins who worship a demon called the Beast and it gives them superhuman abilities, the ability to bring back the dead/live forever, etc. In the comics, the Beast actually possesses Daredevil in the Shadowland storyline. In the Netflix shows, the Beast is never mentioned, though, and instead part of the Hand worships something called the Black Sky. They still desire the ability to live forever/come back from the dead though.
I still think the best MCU fights are all in Daredevil. Not CGI just sweet choreography and well written villans. Nobu is small but fast and powerful, making him a scary opponent
Someone is Daredevil it doesn't mean he wins every fight. It means he has the guts and mental strength to fight against anyone and getting backup everytime no matter what how many punches he takes.
Same could be said for most ninjas and secret evil organizations. We don't need the why of their existence, our imaginations can almost always come up with cooler answers.
I always felt that Matt should’ve given Stick that ice cream wrapper after the training was complete. He.would’ve been able to heal himself and maybe be immune to Nobu’s weapons
The writers clarified that it was an accident. And if you watch closely you can see that Nobu hit Matt's arm just as Matt was about to throw his baton, which threw off his aim.
What I see from this fight is he wasn’t used to fighting someone who could counter him so well. Add the blades and chain on top of that and he was unprepared.
Kyoketsu shoge. Similar to the Kusarigama, except the Kusarigama has a single blade, whereas the shoge (as seen in this video) one straight blade and another hooked blade protruding from it.
Daredevil may be the only superhero who’s street level outfit is as cool as his actual costume

I love Nobu still trying to fight while lit on fire! 😂
he had to “die” in an honorable way
I bet Nobu had Matt's respect after that fight..
and scars to remember him by
Say what you want, Matt managed to defeat a ancient ninja warrior, even if not directly
But I'm sure he was like "That motherf*cker" after getting set on fire 🔥.
3:50 "on no, I'm on fire, I better hurry up and win quickly before I'm dead."
Lmao
That fight was lit....
No?
I’ll let myself out
An Internet User
No don’t go 😂
1:50 Dude tries to spin kick him, only to get spin kicked. Brilliant
1:51
I've always thought that this fight would be the perfect template to follow for portraying Scorpion in live action. I know it's not exactly realistic, but I think it's the perfect middle ground between realism and total ridiculous fantasy. The recent movie did a good job too, but this is still my favorite quasi portrayal of what Scorpion would look like in battle.
Man when DD do that (fire) scene I was like man what the fuck. I really wasn't expecting that. That was one of the bestest thing i saw.
Daredevil was so epic love this fight scene With him and Nobu really wish this show could have continued Disney Plus should revive it.
They didnt cut it, saw it yesterday on netflix
I think the best part of this fight is that Matt didn’t even really ‘win’ because of sheer skill and strength he took advantage of Nobus arrogance
Nobu is soooo good but then in Defenders his boss is just trash. Stick was saying he's the most dangerous and shit but he did absolutely nothing :(
Yea, the grandma with Jedi powers was great tho and tho
But you have to remember that Matt was a much improved fighter by then. He even kicks Nobu's ass in Season 2.
This was Nobu's best moment. He got worse in season 2.
true blue Nobu damn near killed Daredevil in season 2.
Bullseye worked Matt pretty good, but Nobu was a savage and Matt had less experience at this point.
Before being dragged Matt was actually retreating due to the injuries he had sustained, which is very smart and realistic.
Was nobu one of the five fingers of the hand???
francisco ahumada no, but he should’ve been compared to the others
Yeah, until Griffith took his place
No but he was like the right hand man to the one who spoke Chinese in the Defenders
He mustve been the damn palm
Knight Rider *japanese
Don't know why but part of this fight was pulled from Netflix. The part where nobu pulls out his weapon as well as some of the fighting before it and after was cut. In Netflix it goes from the beginning when Daredevil doesn't land a blow, to Karen and Foggy drunk in the bar, when it cuts back to daredevil he is already hooked with the weapon and being pulled.
No, they show parts of the fights in the episode and than in the very end of the episode they show the full fight
mad because they cut half of the fight in disney plus..... hurts
Dude ok I thought I was tripping. I went to grab a snack and saw they were in the middle of fighting so I rewinded it thinking I missed the beginning but they cut it out. So lame
Matt is so stronge and at his best shape. The daredevil suit and season 2 just helped on his endurance and radar sense but hes a beast here
I love this series so much I miss it so much
One thing I liked about this show is how grounded it felt.
Yes your right
This fight must be the only one I've truly winced in any of the Marvel fights. Well except from Punisher ones I guess. Dd trying to run away stumbling toward the end was especially brutal to watch. Loved it, this is what a fight should be like.
Daredevil doesn't wants to press F to pay respect.
It’s crazy dd had so much trouble the first time he fought nobu and every other big fight sequence (not counting the underground blood laboratory one in season 2) when he fights nobu he destroys him. Love these fight scenes and this show
I’m new to the hand.(mostly I stay with DC but I’m trying to branch out). Are the hand like the league of assasins or the court of owls ?
The Best Jedi Oh dude you you’re missing out. Long story short the court of owls are a group of rich people working behind the scenes in Gotham City. They use deadly assasins called talons. Which are undead super soldiers to do their bidding. I recommend you go google them.
....and I’m Batman
The Best Jedi
I think they got an animated movie but I also might have dreamt it
EDIT: it’s called Batman vs. Robin
Nobu was a better fighter than any other fighter from Hand
I still think the best MCU fights are all in Daredevil. Not CGI just sweet choreography and well written villans. Nobu is small but fast and powerful, making him a scary opponent
I like how after this fight everyone talks about Nobu's blazing death
2:00
The season 1 suit was amazingly cool, especially on a fit man with abs, also the long mask on this head, makes him badass and cool
Someone is Daredevil it doesn't mean he wins every fight. It means he has the guts and mental strength to fight against anyone and getting backup everytime no matter what how many punches he takes.
Man seeing this after season two really proves that when it comes to The Hand "Less is more"
Same could be said for most ninjas and secret evil organizations. We don't need the why of their existence, our imaginations can almost always come up with cooler answers.
I always felt that Matt should’ve given Stick that ice cream wrapper after the training was complete. He.would’ve been able to heal himself and maybe be immune to Nobu’s weapons
Probably the best moment in all of the DD seasons. I'd debate that the punisher/daredevil discussions/scenes are second.
The prison one shot was the best for me
This fight is better than the last kingpin fight
Yoo I never knew they make the fight choreography is this good
Matt tells the punisher that killing isn’t cool in season 2 but he literally lit this man on fire lmao
But it was a life or death situation
The writers clarified that it was an accident. And if you watch closely you can see that Nobu hit Matt's arm just as Matt was about to throw his baton, which threw off his aim.
Shit, that’s a good eye. I just thought it was funny lol. But yeah that is tonally consistent
What the he'll happened to the original?
Savage _Tv ikr!
Riiiiiiight???
Savage _Tv original what
Video. There was another one with like 500m views
I guess there were Copyright issues....
What I see from this fight is he wasn’t used to fighting someone who could counter him so well.
Add the blades and chain on top of that and he was unprepared.
When you're still an average tournament player and challenge a national master in Chess
if anyone is still watching this, does anyone know what the chain weapon is called. just really want to know now
Kyoketsu shoge. Similar to the Kusarigama, except the Kusarigama has a single blade, whereas the shoge (as seen in this video) one straight blade and another hooked blade protruding from it.
I can’t believe this daredevil is the same guy we saw in the SheHulk series 🤦🏾♂️
