Thought Johnny was very funny in this interview as well. This is one of the best all-around clips of Carson I've ever seen, in terms of showing off all the skills and being generally flawless. And it came 22 years into the run!
I love Michael J. Fox. He was so much fun in "Family Ties", and the Back to the Future movies. Michael has a lot of courage and grace to have handled his health condition the way he has. I have a lot of respect for him.
I remember Michael said in an interview (or maybe his book) about this 1st Carson interview saying that he forgot to ask for Johnny's autograph, then after the show he noticed Carson's "cue card guy" dumping the "opening monologue" cards into a garbage bin, Fox then jumped inside to get them as a souvenir.
What are you looking at butthead? More serious note, its nice to hear them talk about it without any idea of how massive and important that movie ends up being for a lot of people. Pretty damn cool.
2 main takeaways: 1. this is a fantastic time capsule just as MJF was launching into stardom 2. Weird Al Yankovic has been around for a minute Bonus: MJF is so nice you can't hate him even if you wanted to
What a terrific appearance. What I'm hating about myself, tho, is watching his hands. Filming BTTF is when the twitches started in his pinky, I believe. Makes this kind of bittersweet. 👍❤
@@py2007 No, that's not true. Michael J Fox himself said that the twitches started while he was trying to play the guitar in "Back to the Future, Part II."
Funny story why I will always like MJF. My buddy was a LAPD officer and pulled over MJF for speeding. Michael said he had just finished the day filming on bttf2 and was headed home. My buddy asked, "what do you think I should do?" Without a beat, Michael said, "take me into the alley and beat me?" He let him go.
I like that when you said yesterday when I was growing up I was allergic to milk I was a midget which being picked on but a miracle happen I was able to drink milk I grow an inch every year for several years and when people tell milk's not good for children I laugh at them.

Unfortunately all three of these wonderful people are gone now. We really enjoyed them and especially how Johnny Carson was so inquisitive and let his guests shine. He asked the right questions and was really genuine.
5'5" to be exact. We're the same height; but he's way better looking. I've read all of his memoirs and he's become a real quality person. A shame about the Parkinson's but he's used it to impact a huge number of people and lead the charge to find a cure for this horrible disease.
I'm sort of joking but it's true in TV / film they get it 100% and use every trick there is to make a short leading man seem taller. Same Tom Cruise. Maybe BTTF it didn't matter much with the boyish character. Age 24 playing age 17. At the time I wouldn't think about that. He can get away with it - ha.
Well did you know he lost a lot of money investing in the DeLorean? That's what the 'joke' was about but yes, it did break down on him the first time he drove it which is fitting.
Just turned 20 that summer and loved seeing the film when it was out. As Huey sang, I wanna go back in time!
Johnny was so good at just letting his guests talk and have the spotlight. Had to make them feel very special.

I'm never ashamed to admit "Back to the Future" is my Favorite movie. Extremely Entertaining . . . . . because of that great actor we just watched.
My favorite movie too!!
And i love him!! 🥰
Ashamed? What the heck... it's one of the most respected movies ever made.
"Back to the Future" is timeless! --------- I am so so sorry, I will show myself out ------- Sorrrry! 😶
Ashamed? No need
Me tooooo!
I loved Micheal J. Hope he's doing as well as possible.
He was so cute. There was no “Family Ties” without him. A wonderful actor who has faced his extreme physical challenges with courage and grace.
85 had an awesome summer.
This so true! Including Live Aid. I remember that Summer very vividly.
This is how I will always remember him. ❤️
Me too!
Yeah, i understand you, he is a very strong man but break my heart see him today 💔
God these were unbelievably good times.
the release of Back To The Future was the peak of Western civilization

Michael was always so smooth. Johnny didn't intimidate him at all.
Happy Thanks to Michael J Fox and Family and forever thankful we had Johnny Carson 🙏
Who didn't love this guy?
Probably not Eric Stoltz, at least not during bttf. I’m sure he loves him now tho ❤

He’s not dead yet.
One of the few people I know of that is loved by everyone
What a great dude. Legend
Legen great and where the dude. Sky's the limit for the lonely. Figure this8
MJF had such a lovely voice.
He was 24 years old there. Damn!
Carson's got over 700,000 subscriptions that's pretty good for someone that has been off air for nearly 30 years.
And dead
It is 30 years now.
30 Years and 192 days actually.
He was so adorable! The height of his stardom :)
Don't mention his ...height to him 😳
Michael J Fox helped make the 80s an iconic decade!
for real back to the future
Wow. Thanks to the internet these treasures can bring so much joy after all these years.
“I believe you know about the DeLorean”. Best interjection I’ve seen in a long time! Funny stuff
ABSOLUTE LEGEND.
Michael J Fox is a national treasure. A hero. I love him.
Did you mean Canadian treasure?
Michael is a class act!!! So was Johnny!!!
Carson on after the eleven o'clock news was something I thought would go on forever.
LOL, THAT, and childhood itself.
God, it was such a beautiful time in life.
Damn! Michael looks so young
LOL, he WAS so young! ( Just like the REST of us used to be! )
Michael J Fox was 24 years old here.
Siempre de buen humor aunque estuviera cansado, dan ganas de abrazarlo fuerte,mi amor de la niñez MJF
Greatest actor in the comedy genre ever. He would have been amazing in dramas I am positive!
He is loved by many, still!
He was!one about Vietnam war.
@7:43 Johnny has a bad history with Delorians and his investment into that company. Funny that MJF low key emphasizes it off the cuff. So good
Thank was Great. Me and my kids see Michael J Fox movies over and over again
Just before the Legend began.
I never realized how diminutive he is and smooth as a frappe.
Wish you were really still around. Loved Johnny Carson.. Back to the future is my all time favorite.. love Michael j Fox still....
Michael J Fox is still alive today. There were false rumors about him being dead, but those rumors are lies.
So sweet, and QUICK!
His interview on Marc Maron's podcast is really wonderful.
Great interview, lm all smiles!....miss these days.....
MJF is a class act. A true professional and an all-around nice guy who used the lemons he was dealt with and made lemonade.
How sad, what memories, his great movies, family ties what a show, great TV, the 80s were just fabulous. Its sad its all gone.

The twitching didn't start until years after BTTF was released. Read his ( many ) autobiographies, all very candid and interesting.
The twitches started when Michael J Fox was in "Back to the Future, Part II."
I think the twitches actually started while filming the sitcom Spin City
@@py2007 No, that's not true. Michael J Fox himself said that the twitches started while he was trying to play the guitar in "Back to the Future, Part II."
I thought it was during Doc Hollywood? Are we getting old and misremembering?

You know, until this day, I never saw MJF in an interview before his illness? And this is after he made BTTF. I love him
He didn't deserve this, Great Man! My Youth
Funny story why I will always like MJF. My buddy was a LAPD officer and pulled over MJF for speeding. Michael said he had just finished the day filming on bttf2 and was headed home. I'm a big fan of MJF. I believe if he didn't have Parkinsons he would still be busy making movies or TV.
Michael J Fox and Weird Al Yankovic on with Johnny Carson is one of the most 80s things ever.
MJF is such a national treasure
MJF is so cool.
Micheal J Fox is a great humanitarian. He’s raised a lot of money for Parkinson disease.
When you sell your soul to the Devil for fame and fortune... there's always a nasty downside.
I'm not so sure humanitarian is the term. He has Parkinson disease so he has a vested interest in pursuing research with a view to treatment or cure.

Johnny called him "" chicken ;'''

Well did you know he lost a lot of money investing in the DeLorean? That's what the 'joke' was about but yes, it did break down on him the first time he drove it which is fitting.
The failure was traced back to coke in the gas tank.
I read about that in his Bio.
What is Michael J. Fox up to now
Sad, he looks a bit shaky here and you know why.
Oh... he didn't have Parkinson's then 🤔🤔🤔
he can also be a bit nervous too lol.
I never liked him or his movies. He just acted like himself in every film. I do however admire his strength through his physical adversity

If I’m wrong I apologize but I have found no confirmation of Micheals death. If this is a prank it’s in bad taste.
When late night had class not like the political mouthpieces of today
Also no Fox News spewing hatred and fear into old people 24/7.

Who would've predicted in 37 years later that Weird Al would be the one coming out with a movie and Fox hadn't been in a movie in 20 years.
Carson scratched his ear and had an aloof expression on his face while doing so. I read this was his code for a disappointing guest.
