He doesn't realize it, he can't see it, but he and Rick Bayless are exactly the same, just with different interests. Watch their shows and you will see the same passion about what they do and the same manners of speech. And they are both extremely successful in media as well.

It sounds like Skip holds animosity towards Rick because of their father. I can understand where he's coming from, it does sound like his dad wasn't...the best. But that doesn't have anything to do with Rick. I'll say this as someone who has gone through similar -- Let it go, Skip. Reconcile with your brother. You don't want to go to your grave knowing you weren't close with your brother because of things that happened as a child. Especially with one of your other siblings already gone.

This is one side of the story. The fact the others stay together suggest Skip must have been a difficult son

I do know it can be difficult to live with an alcoholic parent, it's an absolute nightmare that takes its toll on _everyone_ in the family. And that has obviously affected Skip and his life. But I will say this, from what I've observed from him as a commentator and other things, he does seem to become jealous easily and holds onto it/a grudge. Could be completely wrong, but even from the things he's saying in this, it seems like that could be part of it. There's 2 sides to every story, would love to hear Rick's take.

Yeah. That would be very interesting. I'm a huge fan of Ricks cooking shows and recipes and I've always been aware of Skip as some sportscaster guy.( I'm not sports oriented at all.) I never made the connection that they're brothers.

As someone who has, unfortunately, physically strong-armed their father - it doesn't make you feel like a man. It makes you feel like a betrayer, even if that person was basically trying to physically attack you and it had been years in the making. You feel like a piece of yours soul has become tainted. Even if Skip thinks his father deserved it(and he probably did); I am sure it turns his stomach to relive that event.

Skip and Rick are the same just different field of business. Maybe the interest is why they don't talk. Hard to coexist with a sibling who doesn't have nothing to talk about.
Skip experience a bad childhood. He was the least favorite kid from what he went through. Whatever he did wasn't good enough to his family. I can understand he experience very tough times growing up.

Skip and Rick’s childhood memories are different. Rick said when his father died he had to become the man of the house and took over the family business ( bbq restaurant). He was in high school and worked at the restaurant at the same time. He worked at the restaurant while he went through college .
Rick was great full for the family restaurant.
There is a RUclips video of Rick Bayless talking about his father’s death and the restaurant business.
    Skip sounds bitter and ungrateful.

Skip Bayless is pathetic. I urge everyone to do some research and see how the rest of the ENTIRE family describes the family dynamic. Rick, according to Skip his arch emissis, is very respectful of his brother. He speaks highly of him all the time. ESPN is the perfect platform for Skip. ESPN is just MSNBC with a football, always looking to play the victim card.
