I I'm simply floored by this album if you all don't mind, I'm going to repeat here what I posted on the band's FB page........ This album is the perfect example of one in which the listener can put on his or her headphones, turn off all lights and other distractions and simply become immersed in the musicianship, the orchestration, the vocals, the overall artistry, all the while conjuring up his or her own "mental video" for each song based on the emotions he or she feels........
Just spent half an hour or so of going through female fronted symphonic metal band videos, looking for something outside the big bands that I already love, and being disappointed with one after one being generic and just not engaging and standing out. Then I saw this and it was no longer a waste of time. Kudos.
In case you didn't find any of these bands, here are some non mainstream female fronted symphonic metal bands that I think are pretty interesting (plus a few standout songs to me since even a good band can have filler) in the order of most recommendable (IMO of course): 1. Xandria (Although hopefully they were in the big bands section; Forevermore, Voyage of the Fallen, Nightfall) 2. Lapis Lazuli (The Downfall of Humanity (The whole album for the most part!)) 3. Ancient Bards (Birth of All Evil, Showdown; although the whole album New Dawn Ending is fantastic) 4. Sinners Moon (Sinners Moon, Pray for the Child) 5. Amberdian Dawn (although I'm not particularly fond of their new singer) (Valkyries, He Sleeps in a Grove, Son of Seven Stars) 6. Wildpath (Buried Moon, Ice Rose, Crystallized) (Heavy accent) Happy listening if any of these are new!
I wish they were, but I only I got to see them, they were the 3rd string band...and the second string was Delain (Who...might also count as a big band, although they really shouldn't be, IMO).

Not just the voice. The whole woman is beautiful that words cant describe it... This fact together with the sadness in this video going on has such an emotional impact that almost tears flow for some reason especially from around 4th minute on.. Whereas bands that focus on military/history related subjects often times focus on specific events (such as Sabaton, which I absolutely love by the way, this isn't a dig against them)...this is a song in which can truly be applied to any armed conflict throughout our history if you think about it. Because of this it can evoke a wide variety of emotions, feelings, memories, perceptions, etc. and this is a true mark (in my opinion) of a fantastic piece of music - what images my mind conjures up may not be the same as the next listener, yet we both feel an emotional connection to the song all the same.

This was incredibly good! The title drew me in looking for a war like anthem, and at first I was taken aback by the vocals, but they really are very good once i got over the shock :P.
+Carcat25 Vocals? A classically trained feminine voice seems to be a norm for a metal band nowadays - for me it is always better than an untrained and unpure (male) voice.
It is a shame that we live in a world where fantastic music such as Ravenia, is largely unappreciated. The music industry has always been a fickle and shallow organisation. I remember an interview where the head of a very large and well known record company said that if he had followed advice he would have got rid of Fleetwood Mac before the 'Rumours' album and Pink Floyd would never have made 'Dark Side Of The Moon'.
