Thanks for the heads up on how to get my display back! It totally worked! You saved me from buying a new stereo! I was extremely proud of my accomplishment after following your instructions! I can't thank you enough!
What an awesome video. You have no idea how much I appreciate you guys doing what you do for us do-it-yourselfers.This took care of my exact problem, saved me the price of a new unit.
Thanks so much! The display on my radio in my 2010 Ford Explorer wasn't working. I just did this today, and it worked! So happy I can see 👀 what station I'm tuning to, the time, and I can adjust the bass 🔊
Thanks for the introduction to modern automobile radios. Even though mine is 20 years old. I hadn't taken one apart since they were full of vacuum tubes. I looked at the back side (dare I call it the "solder side"?) of the multi-layer PCB that holds the fancy display, on the "other" (front) side. I wore my best reading glasses and used a large magnifying glass that facilitated my inspection with both eyes. I saw no open solder connections, though solder joints were legion. I saw no fatigue anywhere. I decided the problem might have been in the fitment together, so I simply put EVERYTHING back together nice and tight. No soldering performed, at all. IT WORKED.
Perfect, Easy to do and now working like new (probably better as some of the original joints had no solder on them at all). Thank you for the great video!
Just finished repairing the radio on my 07 explorer. Under magnification I saw one of the solder joints had cracked apart. Easy fix once I knew where to look. Thank you.
this video helped me a ton. now I can figure out what my radio is on and not feel the need to punch it. thank you very much. the whole process only took 5 minutes once radio was out of my f350
It worked for my 2007 Explorer. Soldering iron probably would have worked better than my gun but it got the job done. Did have some resistors come off the pad and had to hold with a small screw driver while I resoldered. Rosin core solder around .035 size is what I used. Thanks so much for the info to fix it.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate it! This fixed the problem. Solder was only added to the center resistors. You might need another hand and tweezers to help you hold down the resistors because as soon as solder was applied to one resistor end, the whole resistor came off. In any case, nice beads of solder were applied to the resistors in the center and the display is working again!
Great video, Thanks for posting. Worked on my Australian ford radio. The screen didn't work so I couldn't put the security code back in. I have tunes again yayyy!
Great vid!! I hava similar problem w/ my OEM pont vibe’08 stereo. I bought a duplicate unit (old one had worn away all lettering on frnt display. Nu unit worked but no lites. Put old unit back in, which had one light out originally, and it also, suddenly, had no lites! Radio works, tho. Wat duz it meen?!!!!😣 Thx😄

Hi I pulled my circuit board out from dehind the black face. I see a burnt area in the lower right corner of the digital display that radiates out word maybe 3/16 " Under the flat plastic face plate. Is this fixable? All stereo functions work, just no display.
Hi Great video. I have a Ford radio much like this one. THe radio keeps jumping into Seek and only stays on my chosen station for a few minutes, then it Seeks. What can I do, please?
I have a 05 Grand Marquis with a similar problem but the display works when I do the display test function. (Press and hold 3 & 6 then press 5.) I would think if it had bad solder joints it wouldn't work at all. Any ideas? We checked all the fuses that looked like they might be even remotely related to any type of dash light or dimmer. All the gauge lights work.
I have a similar stereo, but with the two connectors plus the wire pair which go to the CD unit. It worked fine until a month ago. Now, the bottom row freezes. It is supposed to display song info, and it does, but only once. If I power it off and back on, it will work again but only once. I have tried other stations, but it's the same. Any ideas?
How do I fix the display on my 2003 ford f-150 cd/cassette/radio? Took it into a repair shop and they said they resoldered the power board, but that did not fix it.
I have an issue where I have no sound, the display and every other function in the stereo works including the integrated factory rear DVD "entertainment" stuff. I swapped stereos with a fellow Excursion friend and his stereo worked immediately in my truck, he plugged my stereo in his truck and it failed to produce sound. So it must be internal components to the stereo itself. Any ideas where to look on the circuit board? Thanks
My Ford explorer CD radio is just like that one my radio works but my CD ? It does not you can't even here the motor in it it use to work but before it stopped it kept showing "CD error and would not rejected out the CD ;( can you help?

Awesome video. Took 5 minutes to get it out and another 5 to touch up the solder joints. Thanks a lot. I have my display back now.
