2000XL is a great and legendary classic machine and will forever have a place in my heart. The first MPC I actually truly mastered through and through was the 1000. But, to me, the MPC X is the best one. I bought it brand new and immediately got right into it and I deeply fell in love with it and every single thing about it. I’m planning on getting a Live II so I can create while on the move. I’m always running around, would love to be able to bang out ideas in different settings and places

I am a guitar player and really wanted an easy to use drum machine because doing drums with DAW and keyboard is kinda sketchy. So I got a MPC One and opened a treasure trove! Drum machine is like it's most basic feature, you can program an entire band in it with ease. Now I'm really into finger drumming and chopping samples, so I decided to buy a Ren in very good condition because I really dig the old school look and the layout is really nice!

The best MPC has always been the MPC4000, its a poweful tool with solid sound, a bit too feature loaded perhaps. The best sounding is MPC60 then 3000. I don’t know about the X. I don’t like it at first sight tbh. The 1000 has a cool form factor imo. I would not mind trying the 5000 with some external converters. The drop in prices of the modern versions is a tell tale of their sound quality / usability not being impressive. I like the portable version tho, looks like a good travel companion for producers. @@ushnicyuvnikof2748 So you don't own an MPC Live 2. Right, that answers the question. Just because a few users report issues doesn't mean the whole product is "bad". Every product out there sees issues reported and MPCs are no exception.
And Akai Professional was sold to inMusic, not Numark. inMusic actually owns quite a few respectable brands, like Denon, Alesis, Rane, M-audio, Stanton, and Numark. It's called economies of scale and is not necessarily a bad thing. Standardization across brands of certain internal parts can actually improve overall quality and allows for more affordable devices like the MPC One.

They are poorly built products and again they have poor quality outputs and poor quality AD/DA converters this negatively impacts the sound but the overall build quality is low. Akai got brought out by Newmark who release low quality products under the Akai name so basically the new products are fake Akais. My S950 has lasted me 33 years and can be fixed with ease the new Newmark units have a lifespan of two to five years and are built with pcbs with Asian machine made pcbs with micro circuits thst are impossible to solder in most places so when they die they get binned. But the main problem on the new units is not the awful Chinese build quality and cheap Chinese components it's the sound - again they have extremely poor quality outputs.

Its INSANE that at the price point its at, 800$ you get a complete audio workstation not just a mpc. Its a daw in a box, i just recorded an entire album just using the one. Entirley mixed, mastered and recorded vocals right into it (you can even plug your audio interface direct into the one and it recognizes it!). If we had this in the 90s, i woulda lost my mind! Also its got many tools to dirty samples up, you can make it sound pretty much however you want once you get to know it. Dirty, clean whatever.

@@SampleKingsVideos The price is different tho, the mpc one is hundreds of dollars cheaper, and i wouldnt use the speaker on the live anyway and the battery would go unused by me although its nice to have there... untill the battery wears out and all lithium ion batteries do. Alot of people keep equipment forever so knowing that battery will die in a few years does worry me. So for me, also being $ concious, the one just made sense.

@@jonathansoko1085 you hit the nail on the head, I bought an MPC One because I didn't need the Live speaker or battery. Saved hundreds of £'s. I just had to get away from the PC and get back to making music with an inspiring instrument. It's now the centre of the studio, with some midi gear hanging off it. Perfect workflow.

Sent my live 2 back and bought the MPC One. Didn’t like the layout on the live, the speaker was naff, didn’t like the rubber buttons and it was double the price. Still had to keep plugging it in to charge and I don’t make tunes outside so it was a no brainer. A retail outlet told me the battery is why it cost so much and they were quite a lot of money to replace.
The money I saved was spent on an external keyboard/synth.
Would like to see an updated MPC one in the near future. Internal hardrive, volume and record knobs on the top and a better grade of touch screen and maybe even a tilt screen. Perhaps a bit thinner too.
I think the MPC One will turn out to be a future classic just like the 2000XL.

Not many people had a 3k in the crib. It was a studio piece. Same with the 60. PLUS!!!! The first MPCs triggered the s900/950s most of the time in the very beginning. Nobody cared how they “sounded” at first. Same with the SPs. The sequencer was the thing at first.

Thank the Lord, financially I can swing either of the two. I am already educated as to the advantages/disadvantages of the two MPC's. I just prefer not to have to menu dive if possible or always be reliant on the touch screen. IAMSIGHT did an interesting video not too long ago where he showed viewers how to use the shift button as a major shortcut, along with the new update that also helps with that process as well ( I hope I got that part correct). Regardless, there will be a learning curve for me because I have never used a new generation MPC and I don't have any prior perspective or knowledge to compare anything too. Can you share any insight with me. I appreciate you, Doc. Blessings!

IMO the 1000 or 4000 were functionally the best & I’ve had most of the different models. I always thought the 2000s were the worst, but the XL saved it. The live is almost perfect just a few niggles such as too much menu & touch screen diving which takes away from the fun I have on older samplers which usually have little to no menus, or they are intuitive. Case in point, I shouldnt have to press the Q button selector to go from editing start / end / loop. All should be on ONE page
