A massive Thank You to ‘Ayrshire Film Co’ for creating and producing this footage and further strengthening and advertising Doon Valley Railway. The Ayrshire Film Company were and are a lovely team to host and work along side during their time on site and are most welcome to return. ARPG volunteers who operate the DVR are fully committed to saving the buildings which the Charity operate from and are critical to continued operations. Losing the building to private or other ownership will impact on the scale of operations and will determine whether the Charity can continue to open to the general public which could cripple the Charity, Heritage and limit the exciting future plans in the regeneration of the entire area. It has been quoted by one MSP as the ‘Linchpin’ and key to the regeneration of the entire Doon Valley and a serious contender for tourism for the South West of Scotland and wider. Get behind ARPG to help save these buildings, the site, the history, the memories, the smiles on children’s and adults faces and to protect, preserve, restore and maintain an iconic location - to continue telling the history of the area. Time is not on DVR’s side, donate today or lose it tomorrow….. DVR needs you! 🙏
Lovely video , I have been there years ago and the potential for this railway and indirectly the surrounding area is immense as often the Doon valley seems to be left out on people's Scottish holiday plans , with over aight thousand views of this video all it needs is each viewer to donate a couple of pounds to make a big difference to the development of this railway.
This is a brilliant video! This is a railway I've heard of but knew little about. It was great to see it in more detail and I hope I can visit one day.
Honestly I did too until we made this! But they’ve got plenty going open, there will be an open day coming up in the summer I’m sure, would definitely recommend going along.
The Ayrshire Railway Preservation group just bought the railway wagon repair shed, they unfortunately didn’t raise enough to buy all the buildings but they’ve made a good start and are able to continue using the track 👍
We're currently looking for 💡 ideas for the next few episodes of #HiddenAyrshire, let us know below your suggestions 👇
Was this railway saved?
Yes the group are still operating and still have access to the track however I believe they’ve had to move out of a few buildings that have been sold.
😢so sad thy don't get the money to help save it well done to you all for making this wee film

Thanks so much for having us along, it was great to see the amazing heritage and work being done by volunteers. 🚂
Great film, my family were part of the coalworks at Dunaskin and Minivey, as well as the brickworks there. Well done Josh and everyone else
Thanks so much, always great to hear of the family connections to these places. It’s so important to remember our heritage
