I love how these hexagon wall shelves look, but it sure was a lot of repetitive, production-style work to make five of them!

I think these look really cool, but it sure was a lot of repetitive, production-style woodworking! There are a lot of possibilities for these hexagon wall shelves: painted, stained, different woods, different arrangements. I was originally going to paint just the plywood edges lavender, but after mounting the photos in the backs, decided it would be distracting, so I left the plywood edges bare. What ideas do you have for these hexagon shelves?
Maybe something modular. Instead of glueing together the exagons
+Steve Ramsey You missed a chance there, you could have filled the back ground with "Settlers of Catan." icons, a field of what, some stone walls or rocky mountains, and some woods... then maybe a town or settlement and some roads...
+Steve Ramsey I'm thinking of making bug-hotels with this design... seems pretty doable
good work
The Big Ben Theory
Hay Steve, I've just had my 64th birthday, and I'm finally learning something I've always wanted to do, woodworking! I've hunted all over you-tube, and your tutorials are by far the most informative, clear and helpful. I love your no-nonsense, no BS approach, and especially love that you don't assume that all your viewers know all the jargon, or have all the best equipment. I'm now a subscriber, and I have signed up for your newsletter.
Thank you for making my woodworking ambitions possible.
Steve, there are many things about you and your videos that I enjoy, not the least of which is your choice of music. There's something about its upbeat nature that is just a perfect fit for what you do and how you do it.
I really liked the use of the scrapbook pages into the back of the shelves. Definitely a good lesson in production mode and angles. Nice project.
my name is Mohammed Kudhair from IRAQ ...that nice woodworking l like it thank you so much Steve
Thank you for giving size in imperial and metric systems, and thank you for all your video.
I need these for a game room... in each hex I could put a forest, pasture, field, mountain, and hill....and 6:10 you beat me to it! +1 VP to Steve!
Even smaller hexagons would make terrific displays for miniature gaming figures and mini dioramas.
And I always pronounced it Cuh-TAN, like go to the beach, get a TAN, not Cuh-tahn. Now I can say I've heard it both ways. Thanks, Steve.
This is my favorite episode so far! Hexagons, ads, repetitive celebrations, and humor. Yep. My favorite.
Product advertising was witty and funny. Haha. love your vids!
I love your little celebrations along the way.
I like how you make the casper ad spot fun and funny, it makes me not mind it so much. Good project Steve. Thanks, now it feels like Friday.
+Liberty Woodworking I'd say not only do I "not mind" watching Steve's commercials, I'd say I enjoy them.
I did my first woodworking proyect yesterday, a table. I have been wanting to do wood stuff since forever but your videos inspired me to take the first step, wich sometimes is the hardest one! Thank you Steve for making thise awesome videos every week! I was intimidated and afraid it would be too hard for me but you really make woodworking for mere mortals!
This is a much better technique than what I tried last time... I think I might do a run of these for our nursery!
Steve, those hexagonal shelves look nice and artistic. The pictures you have stuck inside each hexagon add to the elegance of the honeycomb shelves.
Swapping the plywood backs for some transparent plexiglass and adding some LED-strips would make an awesome lamp
Love the shelves
great shelves,I watched this episode with my 3 year old daughter and she said you are a great maker
LOL These are the only ads I can watch without being annoyed. This weeks was especially brilliant. It had this eerie feeling like there is something wrong with the world. Could Cthulhu really be on his way?
Great project too. The background images brought it to life.
Those shelves turned out really nice!
Gonna do a whole wall with these. Going for the old school TARDIS interior look!! Thanks for posting this.
Very beautiful shelves! I wish I was so creative as you are. Thank you for this great video. Thanks to MicroJig and Casper for sponsoring the show.
I'm almost disappointed that you didn't paint them...almost. I love the colors you choose. :) Great work as always!
Looks awesome!

Turned out really great! I wish I had a shop so I could make this.
That zero out button on your digital level is brilliant!! I wish mine had it! Maybe it does?
I've been watching your videos for years and I think this project is one of my all time favorites. Good job.
I dig it!
Hi sir Ramsey. I love your work i'm from the philippines i'd like to explore my creativity with woodcratf but unfortunately is hard because i'm poor. But wacthing your you tube chanel makes me feel i also working. Thank you
I use almost the exact same build method for hexagon boxes. The only differences are that I bury the dado stack in a sacrificial fence for the bottom and I use elastic hair bands to clamp the thing for glue up.
Beautiful work, very creative, Steve thanks for sharing your idea.
iam indonesian.. i think this is easy to whatch and i hope i can do it my self thanks for sharing
you need to find some small plastic sheep, some small brick looking things, and little tufts of grass to put in various hexes... Then when your son next comes home from College, you can ask him to trade.. ;)
like the hexagons, would be great for collectible figures and stuff like that...cool!
Yay for millimeter measurements! Thank you very much for the always good, funny and inspiring videos.
One of the best projects by far.
You really nailed that one (minus the nails), it looks very good!
Sweet project! I can see these as large furniture/storage pieces! I love your Casper commercials they always leave me in stitches!
This might well be my favorite you have done so far! Keep up the great work.
This is the best tutorial I've seen on how to make these shelves. Great job!
Nice I like that brother 👍

Settlers of Catan? Rapunzel figurine? Have you been snooping around in my head?
The room you hung that in is the same color as my dining room . Great project . Peace .

Good job as always Steve
I like the tessellating pattern of hexagons.
These are so cool looking Steve
Turned out pretty cool! I like the images you added inside the boxes.
I'm not even into woodworking but your videos are really interesting to me.
I think this is a great looking project. Way to go Steve.
Love your videos! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and having a sense of humor
I'm loving this one!!
Beautiful project.
Nice job Steve.
Looks great Steve!
Another nice project and you made it look easy, thanks for sharing.
that's that's a great project. I really like the pictures as a background
Awesome project. This is probably one of my favorite projects you did recently. It looks great and is really flexible for different spaces. You should make Hexagon stack-able boxes that would match. Basically do the same design but put a rebbet on the outside of the top of each one so it will slide into the rebate you put in the bottom, that way they could stack and you could make a lid for the top. It could be a interesting storage solution that looks slightly different.
Awesome project -- looks great!
I love the projects as much as the promotions.
Pretty neat, gotta try making some of these as shadow boxes
SALUDOS DESDE CHILE....MUCHAS HERRAMIENTAS....LINDO TRABAJO. GRAN IDEA. MUCHA SIMPATÍA. FELICITACIONES.
I love it when you do the victory dance 😁
so there are such things as coincidences .... I made a few of these this weekend and discovered this vid this morning. I didn't put backs on them though... I split the Hexagon shape with shelves. My Daughter likes the flexibility of not having them connected... she can place them in patterns or singles anywhere she needs more space for her ponies.
Very nice shelves!
excelent your video very original. Saludos desde Lima Perú
One hell of a hyperactive carpenter, nice one, keep it up.
Hey, that shape is the molecule for ........... Microjig....
+wayne creech Score yourself 5 bonus points. That was just flat-out funny...
I would suggest 60 more 30 degree cuts for the face frame which would enhance the project substantially, maybe in a contrasting hardwood.
That looks very cool!!
It looks nice, kind like a giant bee hive. I have an idea, use them to store honey. Sweet!
I wish to be like you. all your ideas are awesome.
fun and simple project, thanks
That's a good hard days work!
you are brilliant my friend.
oh man I love hexagons
Very nice project Steve!
