I am an organ lover but I have to admit that this sounds so much better and cleaner on the piano. Most organists tend to heap lots of reeds in their combinations. At least here I can hear the clarity of the notes and how the harmony is actually moving.
This is my favorite version of this song. The piano clearly brings out the melodies and counterpoint so well. It really brings out the genius of Bach! Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for your lovely comment, Chargrocked, I’m glad you enjoy this version so much. I really enjoyed arranging and playing it. I’m planning very soon on covering Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No.3 in G - it will be epic, so stay tuned!
Just the most beautiful bit of music, a 10/10 masterpiece that for anyone else would be the centrepiece of their whole oeuvre. But Bach seemed incapable of writing music that wasn't this quality, there are so many 100's and 100's of pieces this good, every stream of notes out of this man was transcendent. Hard to believe such a concept is possible, but then you listen to this video and it confirms it instantly.
I think this is because he truly mastered the "production" quality of music compositing . He took the formulas of his masters and pre-decessors, perfected them and attached his incredible musical intelligence to it.
I have had this masterpiece in my life since I was 12 years old, starting with switched-on-Bach then versions for organ, harpsichord and now piano (at 67). Listening to it makes one feel that life is complete.
Woah, really good execution! The notes are even and it sounds professional! Those tenths though. Seems like Bach is also into dissonance at times. Anyway how long did it take to learn?
The Flaming Piano Thanks Flaming Piano, it’s certainly an amazing piece to play but because of the almost constant semiquavers it’s one of those pieces that you really need to memorize in order to keep an eye on the fingers. (and yes, those tenths - helps to have big hands or good stretch!) This performance is based on a piano arrangement I did of this piece many years ago based on the original score I had which contained an organ part along with trumpets, violins and a few other instruments. (Hence the odd tenth here and there!) It was a piece I remember practicing intensely at the time as I really wanted to play it. Quite how long it took to learn I cannot remember as the piece is about 10 pages long. What I can tell you is that about 20 years passed and I was rusty as hell on this and it took me quite a few weeks to brush it up and get it ready for recording. I don’t play nearly enough Baroque music at the moment and I think the learning process is always quicker if you are regularly playing similar musical styles to the piece you are learning. The most important thing I found in relearning this piece was writing out suitable fingering which is vital. We have more like this coming, so hopefully I can get my Baroque technique back up to scratch!!
@@masterkeyz959 holy shit 20 years, and also your own arrangement! I'm really impressed! And yeah baroque is quite a different style, really hard to read and learn compared to Liszt and Chopin even. Looks like tenths are almost no problem to you, you got huge hands
@@masterkeyz959 i understand why!Master Keyz. The more i listen to it, already many times..and shared it with friends, the more i love the way you!! play this great Bach, describing the process of making this video, it is a work of Love and one feels it..thanks again, it so helped to make the day, life better.
NEFTISdragon thanks so much! A lot of time and effort goes into the editing as well as the playing and recording so it's nice to hear positive feedback.
GvPiano Thanks, GvPiano, glad you enjoyed it! This was one on the list to upload for quite a while and I had to keep postpone recording it until I’d knuckled down and refined it properly. I love this epic Baroque style... it’s so dramatic and yet still so cheerful.
midiking Thank you so much for your kind comment midiking. Welcome to the world of MasterKeyz! We have some amazing stuff on the way. Glad you have enjoyed our journey so far and thanks for subbing! 😊🙏👍
I love how at about :48 it's like: Bach: The melody needs more notes. Right hand: I've run out of fingers!! Bach: Ok. Left hand, hop on top of right hand and help out.
Man honestly the more is listen to this the more I think that this arrangement is going to be THE piano arrangement of this piece. Just like Myra Hess's arrangement of Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring is the best arrangement of that piece. Or Egon Petri's arrangement of Sheep May Safely Graze is THE arrangement of that piece. You should send your arrangement to a load of the great young pianist of our time like Lang Lang and others like him. It's a MUCH better arrangement than the Saint- Saen's arrangement. Do it man!!! You need to get this arrangement out into the world. It's the best arrangement of this piece out there!!!!! Send it to loads of the young professional pianists!!!!😉
Thanks so much for your kind words - that’s high praise indeed and definitely one of my favourite ever comments! I really enjoyed playing this piece (I actually did this arrangement about 20 years ago when I was in my 20’s and played it just for fun but it then sat in a folder until I finally got round to performing it on this channel and I’m so pleased you enjoyed it! 😎👍 If you like J.S. Bach then I think you’ll really love the Brandenburg Concerto No: 3 which I’ll be playing as a piano version sometime this year😁 Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more cool piano music coming soon!
Como desearia que hagas un tutorial de este arrego y asi poder tocarlo! Es una maravillosa interpretacion, seguro que nuestro amado Bach estaria muy feliz de ver como lo interpretas.
This is amazingly good way above and beyond and feel inspired to learn it. I see the sheet music is available. Is it annotated with finger numbers??? Thanks 100%
That's an interesting arrangement. The left hand is less busy and dramatic than say in Kempff's version, but nonetheless you keep the spirit of the piece beautifully alive. 👍
Que excelente interpretación amigo!! Logras crear y transmitir lo que bach hubiera querido, deberías tratar de tocarla en órgano, sería genial!! Saludos desde Colombia
Love that you also play classical! Very well played, with the accents and dynamic diffrences! Subscribing now! I do a lot of covers on my channel, not so much classical (Yet) even I'm classical educated :)
Bach was a genius.

could you please do BWV908 fantasia on piano? there is no existing piano interpretation on youtube
Bach was the da Vinci of music. Another perfect combination of art and science.

Yes, it’s amazing hearing Baroque pieces like this played on a piano - I hope Bach would have approved!

I prefer great harpsichord music on piano too, like Scarlatti, Goldberg variations!

@@masterkeyz959 Any idea when we might expect Brandenburg 3?
It's not a song - there are no vocals.
That's a better transcription than the Saint-Saens transcription. It feels more true to the baroque style. Amazing performance too!!!
Agreed,
The arrangement is spectacular!!! Get it out there!!!! Do it now!!!!!
Bach wrote over 1000 works but even if he wrote only this fraction of 1 piece people would still put him in the conversation for the all time greats!
Awesome work, Master Keyz! Sub'd!
