Dang, that’s crazy that your first paid gig got cut short, and props for keeping your head up! I feel like that could (or should) have been something that they told you so you would at least play something more upbeat. But, experience is experience, and it did get you to practice a lot, which certainly helps.

Fun fact, I'm about to perform for my first gig (i think it's paid haha) this Saturday. Its to perform Chinese new year songs for university alumnus. And I'm only 21 with barely a year of experience with my instrument haha (thanks for the well wishes)

@LittleLamaLatte it was actually offered to me by my university. They were desperate for players when they couldn't find any last minute for my instrument so I decided to just try it out
@@JacobRestituto hey we (5 of us) played 4 Chinese New year songs today (2nd last day of cny) and it all went great (except for the fact that i screwed up 1 bar on my zhongruan). The uncles and aunties loved them especially the last song 恭喜发财 or in my own words it's called dong dong dong qiang. No idea how much they're paying but it's definitely not a lot from what i heard
In short, know how to play lots of songs in lots of styles before you book a gig. Maybe you could even take requests, if you know enough songs.
