What I love the most about Kevin is how he never hesitates to call D out on his arrogance. "You calling someone a degenerate is very-" "Weigh your next words carefully." "Okay. Consider this; Fuck you."
He’s a Pyramid defector. His entire life was dealing with Tremere who had gigantic egos. Forced to follow the orders of those above him with little chance for choice.

I love the theory that D is gonna teach Kevin the path of Golconda, which in WOD is basically a way for vampires to become enlightened and can apparently make you able to survive off only a few drops of blood if not able to become human again completely

Brockham's natural acumen for his job and ability to passively fit into a competent adversarial role for Marcus is a sign of the quality of writing at work.
Personally I was taken by just how outraged he was at the end of that episode. It shows that either he had bonded with the old man, or is just incensed at senseless death in general- both of which are interesting.
@@jamesmcdonald1108 Remember, most people flee in panic or freeze in place when affected by werewolf Delirium. Brockham, however, was enraged and that requires exceptionally strong willpower.
Yep. Brockham sure is a cool character. He definitely has the capacity to care as well. To be honest, half of Kevin's charm is Erandil's delivery. The man can go from tired dad to GREAT AND MIGHTY (I refuse to refer to him in anything other than caps or curved bold) in just a matter of seconds if not less. A great combination with the opposing Speaker-D who shifts the opposite way from insane methe addict to the most competent man in the room.

I played this series for a friend of mine on our way to our weekly gaming session, and he cottoned onto something that I didn't realize (he knows WAY more about WoD than I do) when I played "The Probing of Kevin". "You cannot know the feeling of the embrace. To wake one morning, your skin cold, your heart still..." My buddy: "Wait, what? Play that back!" I did so, and his next immediate words were "Ohh, somebody FUCKED UP." Me: "Huh? How's that?" Buddy: "The way Kevin said that, 'woke up dead'? He wasn't EMBRACED, he was TURNED. I don't think his sire ASKED him to become a vampire, and that's the entire reason it's called an EMBRACE. You're asked if you want to become a vampire and then you're WELCOMED in! Turning someone into a vampire is a very big deal in their society, you can get executed for just making someone a vampire without permission!" Me: "Oh...someone fucked up BAD..." Buddy: (laughing) "Do you want Sabbat? Because that's how you get Sabbat!"
It's been shown the Regent of Great Yarmouth is kind of a self-important narcissist with sycophants enforced by the Tremere bloodbond pyramid. She was in danger if getting found out by the authorities because she was more or less taking all the money she needed from her ghouls and then just letting them die penniless. So they brought Kevin into the fold by force because they needed an accountant to keep things in order and normal looking.
I love Kevin, in many regards, he is the everyday man with goals and dreams, but the world of darkness dragged him into a downward spiral with little chance to escape the bleak situation he finds himself. The parable of Kevin Wettsworth hits so hard with the line, "And then Kevin died." Following this the horror of being alive but his body being a cold husk.
I think something interesting about the vampire lore is the fact that in recent editions the camarilla has found itself on the decline and the sabbat has basically become a pariah sect. The only sect that has found itself on the upturn are the equalitarian Anarchs. While world of darkness has this them that the powers that be have gigantic strength it also has this undercurrent of those powers declining. Of these powers having to adapt to a new world order that has no place for them, in the dark ages the vampires preyed on humanity with reckless abandon but then came the hunters, the fighters, those who refused to sit by and surrender to the darkness. So the vampires retreated to the shadows only rulling from afar. While WOD has the theme of all powerful oppressors it also has this theme of their decline, a theme of how if you don't ley down your arms and let the masses have their freedom, the will come to take it from you.
This is also more or less the case in Mage. The Technocracy's ironclad grip is greatly weakening, and not only are the Traditions resurging but Disparates and even Sleepers. Unlike the Camarilla though, the Technocracy still has a reformist movement that might just be enough to save them and their paradigm.
@@TheAngryXenite Personally I kind of love the changes where pretty much the "sleepers" are starting to get a hold of the levers of power among the technocracy. They have so succesfully created a paradigm that one doesn't need to be a mage to exploit it.
The thing about the Anarchs is that they can't build anything, they can't maintain anything, they cannot enforce standards of any kind. If there's two Anarchs in the room and they're wearing the same shirt one of them has to change, they are fundamentally repulsed by uniformity. The only way the can act as a sect is as a leaderless mob of individuals each acting upon their own ideals, not cooperating, merely exploiting the opportunity the mob represents, the absence of any authority to hold them back from their destructive impulses. Tragically they truly believe in their utopian ideals but with time and experience they learn the nature of their curse, they can never be unified, they can never lead anything without being repulsed by it, they're doomed to forever be rioters and looters and never anything more. They're closer to the beast than any other bloodline, closer to being werewolves than true kindred, just animals that hunt and kill and destroy. At least the other bloodlines know they're monsters, but the Anarchs it's a cruel truth they must learn and forget over and over, shackled to their nature, doomed to be anarchists. They absolutely would be the dominant sect of our time.

THE GREAT AND MIGHTY KEVIN! Most powerful of accountants, most complex of fashionable vampire wizards, friend to Smerples, and truly a conundrum for any hunters. I just *adore* the writing.
To know how crazy Big D is, you just have to point out that in the "unhinged crazy vs straight guy" dynamic between him and Kevin, the "evil-vampire-wizard" is the straight guy.
Kevin's parable is such a tear-jerker. But D's reaction and reply to it is also incredible, and it opens ones eyes a little more about this crazy man's true character.

"Freedom never comes from surrender" has been rotating in my brain since I heard it. Such a raw line, and also very insightful on D's beliefs, and also just an interesting perspective when analyzing real events. This show is so well written. It's insane
One of the things that only stood out to me after watching this analysis is how Kevin later directly references this more liberated perspective at the end of "Big D's Guide to Avoiding Arrest". "You present me with a two-pronged road! One leads to hell! And the other also leads to hell! But meaty fool that you are, you do not realize that I can simply walk off the fucking road!" GOD Alfabusa and the team are bloody good at what they do. Every time I think I got their stuff figured out I find something new.
Another thing about vampires and why the Camarilla won’t change is because when a person becomes a vampire, they cannot change, at all, not only physically but also they can’t change their world view, trying to get a vampire who became a vampire during medieval times to understand the modern world is like getting a lion to act like a zebra, you just can’t
Smiling Jack was turned in the 16th or 17th century as a literal pirate, but in the modern nights he acts like a regular dude, doesn't even have an accent. Its definitely possible for vampires to change, its probably just more likely that they can become stagnant and stubborn in their way of thinking due to the nature of the Jyhad.
The Parenting has some of the most endearing characters ive ever seen in WoD. You can tell the team really love this setting. Kevin is so fucking surreal to me as a Tremere LARPer. Like. All the time perfecting the right myatical asthetic and you just go for it balls on the table. What a legend. He is kind of a trailblazer.
I think one thing should also take note is Kevin’s empathy as a Vampire. When he heard about The Family’s financial issues and how Kitten lost his job instead of mocking them and rubbing it in D’s face he actually felt bad for it, like you’d think a Vampire especially one in Kevin’s position would have just made fun or couldn’t care less but instead expressed sympathy where his pack mates probably would have responded much differently. Or how he doesn’t want others to experience the blood bond at all even if it could benefit him as he knows what it’s like and clearly wouldn’t want anyone to experience it; with Chapman being a exception because…well he’s a freak. Another case of how Kevin hadn’t completely abandoned his humanity
Goddamn it, that money issue bit is SUCH a good catch, I'm mad at myself for missing it. I always looked at it as more of Dee's interrogation, but you're absolutely right
@@QosmicVoid well there’s always next time if you do another Hunter the Parenting Character Analysis. I mean I had to rewatch this video and the original before it clicked on me too.
And Kevin dosen't even WANT Chapman to drink his vitae, only letting him do so because D arranged it and if Chapman stops getting his fill he's gonna blurt out everything to the Camarilla.
One thing to mention is that while kevin is a 9th generation vampire, pyotor was only 12th. Even AFTER pyotor diablerized his friends and rocked the family's shit he only got to the 10th generation. So even with this power boost pyotor was STILL weaker then kevin. The only reason pyotor even being leader is because of him being undead the longest. If big D didn't get "absolutly fucked on dmt" the family would NOT have survived fighting him. The *GREAT ALMIGHTY* Kevin indeed.
I still dont get how the dmt threw kevin off though, vampires have a natural resistance/near immunity to drugs due to the fact that their body is dead. It has been a long time since ive actually read the books though so idk if drinking the blood of someone high has a different effect.
@@gatordragon6140 in the V20 core rule book vampires CAN get high but ONLY through *intoxicated* victims. So yeah kevin would be tripping balls from big d during this fight. I can understand the confusion sense i *think* they removed it. Not entirely sure.
I'm gonna paraphrase a comment from the og vid rq. What makes Kevin's choice even more impactful is that there's even an in-universe term for it : Golconda. Basically it's a path to enlightenment that can see the vampire suppress the influence of the beast (or at least find balance with it), learn abilities regardless of lineage, or even become a day walker once more. The only way to begin Golconda is to have someone tell you of it, which D has done for kevin. It's also expected for the vamp to have a guru, which D is poised to do for Kevin. The Catch is in order to succeed the Vampire must go through a vision quest called a Suspire, where they must defeat the beast within themselves, Succeed and you're free, fail and you become a wight. So Big D might have given Kevin the chance to Earn his humanity back, I just hope he takes it.
I'm guessing he dresses up as a wizard because it is the one aspect of his current identity and existence that he actually likes. Everything else has caused him a great deal of trouble, but being a wizard? He owns that shit.
Small note with regards to the Glorious Past analysis of Fascism and the Sabbat: The First and Second City are stories told by the Kindred to other Kindred, and the Book of Nod, as the scholar Beckett will often remind the reader, is a very unreliable narrative. The idea that Cain and then the Antideluvians set up a perfect utopia where Kindred and Kine lived in sweet hand-holding unity could be true, or it could be pure propaganda from the ancients. So the point you made that the Sabbat long for a glorious past that never existed except in myth is a very valid point. Even the echo of the city of Enoch in the Shadowlands, with it's four tombs worshipped by the Tal'mahe'Ra, was always just kinda assumed to be Enoch and the resting place of four Antideluvians. But they never roused during the Week of Nightmares, they didn't save the city, and they went howling into Oblivion along with the rest of the True Black Hand. Sometimes, perhaps, a tomb is just a tomb.

If Margaret Thatcher won't put down the Welsh coal industry the Welsh government eventually will put it down. I am very sorry turning this comment section into a war zone about Margaret Thatcher.
I think one of my distinctly favorite parts was when Kevin first interacts with Guy Chapman as he mentions ho badly he wants to get his fix so he can be able to lift his kids up well after they're grown up just after mentioning how he'd be willing to burn down his own constabulary for even a drop of vitae and Kevin distraughtly replies with, "You have kids? that's fucking terrible" Had any of the other characters heard mention they probably wouldn't have taken as much notice on how fucked up that truly is
The Jyhad is the great tragedy that has plagued Kindred society since Cain was first cursed by god. His children are forever doomed to fight each other in an eternal struggle and this was Caine's ultimate punishment. I've been playing VtM since 2016 and the Sabbat are probably my favourite Sect to play. Liked the video but something I don't think got touched on is the context behind the Sabbat's founding and purpose. They were ironically created by the Camarilla. They were born from the original Anarchs who rebelled against their elders. They ultimately consider themselves an eternal crusade to eventually rise up and slay the Methuselahs and their Antediluvian masters. The Camarilla, Anarchs, and Sabbat are all fucked in their own ways and are eternally doomed to devolve into infighting and civil wars. The Sabbat are the only ones who are trying to do anything to deal with the threat of Gehenna, the reawakening of the Clan Founders. The Camarilla are too stagnant to the point where they stick their heads in the ground and deny they even exist, while Anarchs have no idea what an "Antediluvian" is 90% of the time. I know its not really relevant to Kevin's story, this is just my Autistic obsession. One thing that is and adds a layer of irony is The Sabbat don't particularly like Clan Tremere either. Tremere are a bloodline of one of the founding clans of the Sabbat, The Tzimisce. They also used the Tzimisce to create gargoyles, which they are still not happy about.
To add more context, the Tremere originally were mages that experimented on captured Tzimisce (killing them in the process) to use Tzimisce blood for a ritual that ended up creating the Tremere clan. The Tzimisce violently hate them for this and will usually kill the Tremere if they get their eldritch hands on them. Camarilla doesn't really like the Tremere either (they killed the Salubri, a founding clan, as well in a genocide) but they are too useful to let go. The Tzimisce are their own kinda of fucked up but they are right on the money with how shitty the Tremere are.
Ironicly the origins of the Sabbat were initallly to give vampires freedom from their elders. But it is a common through line for vampires in the World of Darkness that their language, has more often then not, been facism. The original members of the faction got old and became everything they hated. And now packs in the modern nights are essentially a death cult , with the same structure as the group they hate. Kevin himself , is then kind of an exmplar for the original ideals of his sect, yet still find himself struggling because of what that sect has become.
The Sabbat still brings freedom one must take it. They even formed the Clanless a clan in the Panders. Freedom is taken by the strong in the Sabbat. Might makes right and all that jazz. Though might isn’t just physical for them.
@@mortifidpenguin That is why packs exist. The Sabbat know better than anyone that a family can overcome many things. A Sabbat you are one of many and your pack is your family. Vaulderies assure this along with the need of a group. All Sects push towards Cainites working in groups together. Minus the TMR they are a special case. With the Sabbat group ties are stronger than any other Sect.
Having watched it from the start this time, this is another knock out analysis, and I got to enjoy you pointing out some of the smaller details I missed when watching the series myself. After the audio log interview, I already felt bad for Kevin, but now with the added realization that he was abandoned for the very reason he was embraced makes him an even more tragic character. The fact that his expertise is still ignored even in the Sabat says something, especially when he's gained enough respect to be referred to by name like Pyotr is, rather than a nickname a la Ape and Shitbeard. Kevin was already frustrated before with humanity, and now he gets an extra layer of hell dealing with the same but apparently worse with the vampires. Dude has every reason to be depressed and angry in his position, and do sincerely hope he can reach Golconda, or at least get close to it. Something to let him feel more adjacent to being human again. Also, I hope we get to see him interact with Mr. Smerples, since D did make mention of injecting himself with toxoplasmosis so they could keep the cat around.
As an accountant, Kevin was conditioned to prioritize financial data over personal desires. Since the blood bond poses as your personal desires, it was easy for him to suppress.
What made me like Kevin was his focus of accounting. Especially with how he broke down the logic and reasoning for how everything is run by checks and numbers. 'you need to pay your underlings' Or how he breaks down how Big D couldn't get a 99 cent blender and how he spoke that Big D should like taxes due to all the things that taxes are paid for.
Now we need an officer Guy Chapman episode. Human side of evil in the world of darkness, the collaborator, the people who just look the other way... And get something on the side to do that.
What I love about HtP is that it finds a hope in the world of darkness. Yes D is a madman but he is charting a new path. One that might actually have a future in it. That’s better than most endgames in WoD. It’s likely the path will kill most that walk it, but at least the future that it leads to will remember them as heroes.
Dude, I keep rewatching and listening to this because the series and its overall attitude embodies hope in the face of intimidatingly bad shit perfectly. Corny as it sounds, it's really like a blanket and a funnily empowering reminder of determination. Usually I'm at a loss for words about stuff- but this series is an incredible exception!
I heard one time that Big D wasn't offering an empty hope but he was offering to Kevin the Golconda (i had to search for how is it called and the other info) It's basically a self control, spiritual journey and self repenteance journey It's needed a spitiual guru to guide the vampire trough a part of the journey It has huge benefits for a vampire, like: Minimum hunger down to a drop a week, complete control of the Beast (because during the spiritual journey you need to fight it in a spiritual and mental battle and win or the Beast will control you), the possibility to learn every power of every family without restrictions and even to return human if the vampire wants to It's not known if any vampire ever truly achieved the Golconda but maybe it's possible for Kevin thanks to his still strong ties with his humanity The first and most important step for achieving Golconda is to not lose your humanity or regain your humaity
I love kevin and seriously cant wait to see him more in the future. D and Kevin have made me rethink things in my life, and I want to be like them. To crawl back out of any darkness life may give me and help others crawl out as well. Fantastic video, cant wait for more!
Kevin is my favourite character from a setting in along time. I really like how he feels human and how there are many possibilities to redeem him. If the series goes on for a couple years or gets to emperor TTS levels I'm very excited to see what becomes of our great and mighty KEVIN!
In VTM there is one more option which kevin unknowingly belongs to, Autarkis, vampires that do no follow kindred society and can refuse to acknowledge the claim of a Prince, Archbishop, Baron, sect, clan, or other such entity. Shame the most famous autarkis clan are the incestuous necromancers...
I wouldn't call facsim sustainable... much less self sustaining. As for being a vampire one, you're pretty much on your own, not even the anarchs trust you. You're either a forgotten schmo who wants it that way or you gotta have powerful friends on your side, like the hecata. Seeing how kevin is in the show right now, he's in the forner... unless D has some really deep secrets
@@MrBakku Its more about how 1 of the goals that Hitler wanted to achieve was self-sufficiency from global trade, i.e. He wanted Germany to be an almost completely export nations, with basically no imports

I don't know the series but Kevin became relatable once he mentioned being an accountant. God yes, we indeed hate mankind. Never going back to that job. Instantly likable.
I have to give MANY MANY thanks to this video for introducing me to a hunter the parenting!!! The writing is impeccable!! I’m already attached to like all of the cast. (Guy Chapman is my personal favorite.)
I really loved this analysis of (the great and mighty) Kevin! He is my absolute favourite character and seems like one of the best examples to show the complexity and quality of the writing behind this series. The political analysis was also very spot on in my opinion. Many people seem to have read the scenes with the Sabbat all to much as just "give the vampires an bad political label, because they are bad", when the used label was very much adequate.
Big D is trying to get Kevin to become the first vampire to ever obtain Golcanda(or he just likes having Kevin around to verbally spar with and watch movies with, honestly kind of the same thing with Big D)
During your segment on the psycho polycule's vampire supremacy philosophy, I was thinking on what Peotyr, Ape, and Shitbeard were saying in comparison to Kevin. The rest of the Sabbat were talking about vampires as a group (We vampires are just better and you humans are just food) being strong while Kevin says that he has great strength (I now have this power deep within). Kevine retains his individualism far more than the other vampires in his group.
I'd also note that Kevin genuinely wants to go back to living a normal life. The Masquerade uses a normal life as a cover for evil practices, like an evil Bruce Wayne/Batman.
I see Kevin and Big D as an alternate universe Malcador and The Emperor. Big D even uses the phrase "You will be the bearer of my sigil" my headcannon meaning that Kevin is 'The Sigilite' of HTP. He's just so fun.
I hope we see more of Kevin, even doing an active role. Would be hilarious to have kevin pop up and help the hunters from another vampire like. "Sup bitch, I side with humans."
I think it's literally just because of the fact WoD, at least the Hunter series, is literally filled with humans, which makes it so easy to make the characters feel pretty much like someone you knew in passing or was just your friend. Hell I'd even argue the same with the vampires. They were "mostly" all humans once. Some not as than others. Kevin is for sure a vampire who still keeps his humanity under his arms. If not for smerples if anything.
I have to agree with your statement regarding the constant comparison of H:TP to TTS. Seeing all the comments every time a new character was introduced trying to find parallels with TTS or 40K rubbed me the wrong way, but I wasn't ever sure why. But, I do realize now it's because it always felt like it was diminishing of the work the writers do for H:TP. It's such an amazing project that they're making, and it deserves to stand on its own merit.
I just wanted to say, your analysis videos have been bangers, both of them. The D video sure does help actually explain the man D is to the audience, and that in its own right was masterfully done courtesy of you. But this one? This one connected with me on an emotional, and mental level. The whole message toward the end of it never being too late to pull yourself out from the depths and keep fighting to never let yourself become a monster legitimately made me tear up. Especially since kevin is a character I very much relate to. This series of videos is unironically making me a better man, and for that I could never really repay you. @@QosmicVoid Not to take up your time but I honestly didn't and couldn't do it alone. A best friend and partner who i love her to bits had to shake me and my delusions of both hating myself and of following the words of those without seeing the other side. Once you realize the abyss is a abyss and not someplace safe, even if it is literal vampire damnation.
Kevin was a lot harder to do than Dee was admittedly, but ya'll are incredibly good at putting in subtle stuff that really builds up if you know what to look for, and you know World of Darkness well. With a bit of research things start to make sense - But even then there’s a lot of digging that has to be done. Makes it a joy to work on stuff like this!
Proof that you don't need to be a Malkavian to be a crazy vampire. Though it would have been interesting if Big D had to figure out if Kevin was or was one of the other many clans capable of Dominate, during his chat.
Very nice analysis. I'd really enjoy for you to do this with other characters, i think we have much to learn in the next episodes and you'll have more material with Kitten and Marckus. I have to say, HTP's writing is incredible to me. From the guys who wrote "I am an accountant, do you know how much i hate mankind ?", "I've never met a homosexual i couldn't sway !" and "So i guess he WA SHOCK after all !", but also... "My hope is to embrace a shadow of this dream. To embrace the Beast... and hope freedom is on the other side. - Freedom never comes from surrender." This. Is. GOLD. I did so, and his next immediate words were "Ohh, somebody FUCKED UP."
Me: "Huh? How's that?"
Buddy: "The way Kevin said that, 'woke up dead'? He wasn't EMBRACED, he was TURNED. I don't think his sire ASKED him to become a vampire, and that's the entire reason it's called an EMBRACE. You're asked if you want to become a vampire and then you're WELCOMED in! Turning someone into a vampire is a very big deal in their society, you can get executed for just making someone a vampire without permission!"
Me: "Oh...someone fucked up BAD..."
Buddy: (laughing) "Do you want Sabbat? Because that's how you get Sabbat!"
It's been shown the Regent of Great Yarmouth is kind of a self-important narcissist with sycophants enforced by the Tremere bloodbond pyramid.
I hope one day, Kevin gets that moment to truly shine, to become known in the world.
The 5E universe really fumbled the sects and gave humans a ton of plot armor. HtP doesn’t seem to be going off of V5 most of the time.

Oh my God that's a good catch, I didn't even consider that!
I think that's more of a thing in vampire the requiem
Kindred are generally stagnate creatures, but change is absolutely still possible. It happens all the time in the lore.
Smiling Jack was turned in the 16th or 17th century as a literal pirate, but in the modern nights he acts like a regular dude, doesn't even have an accent. Its definitely possible for vampires to change, its probably just more likely that they can become stagnant and stubborn in their way of thinking due to the nature of the Jyhad.
thats just not true, vampires change _all_ the time. they can also change physically but that is a harder ask.
Cainites can shift and change just as a child of Seth can. The change is just different. More subtle and important.
The Parenting has some of the most endearing characters ive ever seen in WoD. You can tell the team really love this setting. Kevin is so fucking surreal to me as a Tremere LARPer. Like.

@@gatordragon6140 As was said, Vampires can get high from blood

POWERFUL WIZARD GUN
Small note with regards to the Glorious Past analysis of Fascism and the Sabbat:
The First and Second City are stories told by the Kindred to other Kindred, and the Book of Nod, as the scholar Beckett will often remind the reader, is a very unreliable narrative.

Had any of the other characters heard mention they probably wouldn't have taken as much notice on how fucked up that truly is
The Jyhad is the great tragedy that has plagued Kindred society since Cain was first cursed by god.
Tremere started as Dragon bloodline. After having stolen Tzim blood for their ritual. The want to end the Tremere is a myriad of factors.
@@MultiKbarry indeed though might will always be in the hands of elders because they had a head start.
Well as they say if even one person believes in you
Loved this deep dive. As an warhammer head, this cleared up a lot of lore tidbits I needed about WoD world.
'you need to pay your underlings'
Or how he breaks down how Big D couldn't get a 99 cent blender and how he spoke that Big D should like taxes due to all the things that taxes are paid for.
Now we need an officer Guy Chapman episode. Human side of evil in the world of darkness, the collaborator, the people who just look the other way... And get something on the side to do that.
A human doesn't want taxes. But the Vampire does want taxes. Because the Vampire knows what he lost.
I heard one time that Big D wasn't offering an empty hope but he was offering to Kevin the Golconda (i had to search for how is it called and the other info)
It's basically a self control, spiritual journey and self repenteance journey
It's needed a spitiual guru to guide the vampire trough a part of the journey
It has huge benefits for a vampire, like:
Minimum hunger down to a drop a week, complete control of the Beast (because during the spiritual journey you need to fight it in a spiritual and mental battle and win or the Beast will control you), the possibility to learn every power of every family without restrictions and even to return human if the vampire wants to
It's not known if any vampire ever truly achieved the Golconda but maybe it's possible for Kevin thanks to his still strong ties with his humanity
The first and most important step for achieving Golconda is to not lose your humanity or regain your humaity
I love how you weave the actual show into you Analysis in a comedic way, it just makes the analysis feel more connected to the source somehow.
I love kevin and seriously cant wait to see him more in the future. D and Kevin have made me rethink things in my life, and I want to be like them. To crawl back out of any darkness life may give me and help others crawl out as well. Fantastic video, cant wait for more!
"You Blubbering Bulbous Bumbkin!" Lol
Glad to see justification for my Kevin Plushie purchase
I watched this video yesterday and now I've just getting through the first arch of the show. Congratulations, you've created a fan
Shame the most famous autarkis clan are the incestuous necromancers...
once again an allusion to fascism - autarky - self sufficiency
I wouldn't call facsim sustainable... much less self sustaining. As for being a vampire one, you're pretty much on your own, not even the anarchs trust you. You're either a forgotten schmo who wants it that way or you gotta have powerful friends on your side, like the hecata. Seeing how kevin is in the show right now, he's in the forner... unless D has some really deep secrets
@@MrBakku Its more about how 1 of the goals that Hitler wanted to achieve was self-sufficiency from global trade, i.e. He wanted Germany to be an almost completely export nations, with basically no imports
"No-one has to be the monster that they've convinced themselves that they are." is an excellent summary of this video's thesis 🙂
To me, the whole wizard get-up and fancy speaking is just a coping mechanism. Trying to convince himself of this fantasy, that this is who he is and wants to be.
I love how half of the comment section is filled with quotes from Kevin :)
He has so many good quotes that I recite daily to the befuddlement of my friends and family
"a blood hunt of my blood will always turn up dry!"
when your name is kevin.
and tho i am not a great and mighty vampire wizard i relate to his story so much it hurts.
Honestly alfabusa and you have really gotten me motivated to learn the world of darkness lore.
Big D is trying to get Kevin to become the first vampire to ever obtain Golcanda(or he just likes having Kevin around to verbally spar with and watch movies with, honestly kind of the same thing with Big D)
Well, i was certainly wrong about there not being as much substance yet to analyse with kevin as opposed to D, brilliant video!
I can't wait until we get more Grimal lore, that analysis is gonna go crazy
I have to agree with your statement regarding the constant comparison of H:TP to TTS. Seeing all the comments every time a new character was introduced trying to find parallels with TTS or 40K rubbed me the wrong way, but I wasn't ever sure why. But, I do realize now it's because it always felt like it was diminishing of the work the writers do for H:TP. It's such an amazing project that they're making, and it deserves to stand on its own merit.
Gentlemen this man is a wizard
I just wanted to say, your analysis videos have been bangers, both of them.
The D video sure does help actually explain the man D is to the audience, and that in its own right was masterfully done courtesy of you.
But this one? This one connected with me on an emotional, and mental level. The whole message toward the end of it never being too late to pull yourself out from the depths and keep fighting to never let yourself become a monster legitimately made me tear up. Especially since kevin is a character I very much relate to.
This series of videos is unironically making me a better man, and for that I could never really repay you.
Well, except for sharing this with other people, but i digress. Im Starting to feel the waterworks coming back anyway. ♡
I've been racking my brain to think of how to reply to this for the last six hours now, and I'm honestly at a loss. Didn't expect this video to impact someone to *quite* this degree. All I can say is thank you, and I'm glad that it spoke to you and helped in some way. This put a smile on my face
:)
8:11 "Built like a combat Humvee"
Yeah, that tracks.
"Basically its vibe based." I.. as recently turned US moderate from the depths of things, that is most based statement i never thought i would hear about from another of your essays on the funny hehe vampire show.
I like to occasionally do a little bit of Drive-by based-dropping.
Good on you on getting out of the worst of it, pal. It's not easy, you ought to be proud of yourself
@@QosmicVoid Not to take up your time but I honestly didn't and couldn't do it alone. A best friend and partner who i love her to bits had to shake me and my delusions of both hating myself and of following the words of those without seeing the other side.
Like D people need someone from another side to see the actual truth of the crazy hole they found themselves in. Once you realize the abyss is a abyss and not someplace safe, even if it is literal vampire damnation.

"Drive by based dropping"
Stealing the frick out of that yesterday.
Of cource the group of nerd resonate with the Wizard.
Really good analysis, I don't know how you do it with so little to work with!
Void a nice detail you missed, at 18:04 you hear Kevin say he died, you hear him rattle his chains as if he gave up and it should have ended there.
- Freedom never comes from surrender."
This. Is. GOLD. It says SO MUCH about them both while being such a good line on its own.
I watched all of Hunter and Emperor TXT in 2 days because of your videos. Thank you in way.
Such a detailed explanation and exploration of Kevin. Love these videos and can’t wait to watch what else you’ve done!
I’m so glad that I finally decided to watch this!!!!
Tremere is my usual clan of choice besides the tzi so seeing Kevin representing us blood blasting wizards makes me gleeful
