The helicopter caught fire after it had hit the building, this made it possible for the two people to escape. The building that the helicopter landed on acted as a sort of crumple zone, if they had hit solid ground instead their would more than likely be zero survivor's.
@@MattTee1975 Rewatch the video and you can see the tail boom wasn’t burned off yet as he was flying straight. He could have put it down in an intersection or something. Of course hindsight is 20/20 and the pilot wasn’t able to see the fire, all he had was his instruments telling him there was an issue. I’m not criticizing him, only pointing out that he would have likely survived if he had put it down sooner.
Well it’s clear that he was aware of a problem, as he radioed that they were returning to base. So yes, if he had immediately put it down there wouldn’t have been a crash. Obviously the pilot was unaware of how severe the situation would quickly become.
I don't know why he did not put it down someplace parking lot or street you have a fire in these things seconds count. To keep it up this long was not the right thing to do.
Well its so sad that the pilot had a chance to emergency land the chopper before it caught fire, but did not do it where he could, Lord Jesus look after their souls and bring them into heaven !!
