Frances played the best match of the year and one of the best matches of his career. He played so cleanly and focused. Kudos to Alcaraz for withstanding the pressure. Frances took two sets from Carlos. The most from any other opponent Carlitos faced in 2024 Wimbledon including Novak whom he beat in straight sets in the final. Frances played great. Just look at the stats.

@@milanavujicic6854 Not true. Tiafoe ended with 39 winners to 30 unforced. For a 5 set match, that only 6 unforced per set! He did 10, 6, 4, 4 and 6. So he played at a great level. But he ran out of gas in the 5th. It is hard to maintain that intensity over 5 sets. It is just that Carlos started serving much better!

These are the games that champions dig their way out of in the earlier rounds. How many matches have we seen where the Big 3 survived early round scares and went on to win the entire thing? Alcaraz is cut from the same cloth.
