I'm a soldier myself and i am proud to serve my country but in that moment i would hold my flag upside down, just to show how much I hate war and all that comes with it.

This should be the anthem of all the "wounded warriors" who didn't come home with out legs or arms, but so deeply scarred. They are as wounded as those with physically obvious injuries, and all those who were physically scared are part of that group too. We support our troops in many ways, but in a critical way we miss it .... we miss the psychological damage that will change them forever. It just makes me sick. The moral crisis we put our soldiers in is absolutely huge :(

My Friend and I tried to cover this song, but it doesn't matter how good your voice sounds and how well you play guitar, no one performs this song as real and as emotional as Rise Against!
I don't feel like this song is against nationalism or flags but rather blind patriotism.
This song is about how soldiers suffers inside from a war . This song shows that u might not been killed but theres always a small part of u , which dies , after u survived this hell.
And the only quote i know , who describes war at all is from Plato "only the dead have seen the end of war".
cause u can never leave this part of ur life behind u . It will be always inside .

@ManiacalJay The song isn't meant to be offensive to the soldiers. It should describe how awful it is for the people who actually fight this war. Maybe you as a soldier didn't do such things but others weren't that "lucky". So even the soldiers who survived this war can be seen as victims because of the psychological troubles. And all of that just because some old fat politicians decided to start that war
what is a sign from god if not rain in the middle of such a powerful emotional song?

are you kidding me? im from germany, and two days ago, ive seen rise against live in Dortmund, i know almost all of theyre songs, and what theyre songs say, and im pretty damn sure that the mass of people who sang out theyßre soul with me know this and all the other songs as well as me.
by the way, rock am ring is fucking awesome and german fans are pretty cool either
exactly! and there are a lot of people singing along - oh yes, they sing the lyrics but don't understand the song. Makes a lot of sense... not. German people are not that stupid, they are able to speak and understand English (a lot of them xD).

props to all the soldiers, but can we take a moment to think about the police? They're still fighting a war. I think this song could apply to them as well, I think about it a lot because my father is a RCMP officer

i've see a lot of coments like : germans didn't understand the song and bla bla bla bla... The song isn't about the love of a man, a person, for his "country" but a love for his "flag", his "Nationality", he can't be american, german, brazilian, spanish, anything, but always, we gonna love our flag, we maybe aren't so proud of our country, but we always gonna defend our flag, because is the flag that we love, and the flag that we trust...
They dont really get that this is a song against national flags.

So why we're the Germans dropping there flag in the the mosh circle. I ask because in America your not suppose to do that idk about other country's.
God and Rise Against just don't go together, God punishes people for not being part of a religion and tells people to start wars, Rise Against wants people to try and get along no matter what.
God does not tell people to start wars. Story after story in the bible shows how God protected much smaller groups of people against large nations armies.
Read and know before you speak.
God stands against nations of this world. He will establish his kingdom that will crumble all nations. And his kingdom of peace will stand forever.
