That's awesome! Those 331's have quite a legacy, and it’s incredible to think of all the hands like yours that have kept them flying. Bill Austin has one in his hangar here in Sparta too! Maybe one day I’ll catch you around there. Thanks for watching and sharing your connection to this MU2!
from what I've read, its because there is almost no exhaust pipe behind the turbine, the loud humming noise goes away once the condition levers are moved from taxi to takeoff/landing and I'm not really sure how that works but it does
Flew an MU-2M for night freight (checks) many years ago. Good airplane as long as you understood and observed handling characteristics with the Spoilerons. Especially at Vapp speeds. But that’s me. I too had friends who didn’t like to fly it.
@@davidboyd9204 yeah I never flew one as a private pilot, I know they have a reputation as having a very tight envelope and high performance and as you say you have to understand its behaviour . I think its an easy plane to get behind
@@F14-talktomegoose A humble private pilot here (Piper Arrow and Cessna 206 are my high-performance planes) and I get a strong feeling of being behind the thing just looking at the video, boy that thing seems to move!😀
hey this exact aircraft is the first MU-2 that I ever got to see in person, I even got the chance to fuel it before it left, pilot was kind enough to give me permission to record him starting up ruclips.net/video/YQLbYICEeeU/видео.htmlsi=KUjMAG4IBsYRL4eA
I've been here SO many times during flight school. Never saw an MU-2 though
I guess I was the lucky one. Thanks for watching and sharing!
My name is in that logbook somewhere. Rebuilt those 331's

Love the MU-2 family they look Awesome!
She is nice bird. Reminds me of EV-55 prototype which is even nicer.
had one in the Tokyo science museum in the 60s. loud. props are direct drive.
I took my A&P exam at Sparta airport in 1997 using an MU-2 for my qualification. Fond memories of that place !
Sparta has a very nice airport for general aviation.
I did my ATP check ride in an MU2. Long body G model.
We had one based with us and I was amazed at how high it's approach speed was it was high!!!
Indeed its a high performing aircraft.
Adevărate bijuteri ...
Why does it have that humm

True. My uncle had a charter business and owned one of these. Most pilots did not want to touch it.

Lucky you!
I flew one of these for a couple years back in the 80s. Loved it...too bad it got such a bad and undeserved reputation.
