  • Just over 12-months ago Suzuki Australia launched the new GSX-S1000 KATANA here, holding a two day press event on the Gold Coast. At the time, Suzuki promised to build a hottie and send it our way. In April we spent a few weeks testing the bike before sending it back to Suzuki for some fine tuning. Check it out...

    Nice to see some honesty and proof that just dollars on suspension ain't gonna cut it. Wicked looking bike

    If the Katana had an up and down quickshifter, felt more comfortable between the legs like the GSX-S, had lower handle bars with leaning forward ergonomics, and a bigger tank capacity then I would not have hesitated to buy it. I really like the retro 80s look of this bike.

      It doesn't have those things because Suzuki already has that bike...

      perosnaly i like the fact it dident have the quickshifter and to many electronics just the bare minimum it suit the 90s personality very well you can always buy super naked like v4s mt10 s1000r stuf like thos bike that is loaded with tech.

      Your asking a lot, buy another bike instead of complaining about it, your body might be an odd shape by the sounds of it

      @@jeffestrada6857 Nah. More like the original Katana but with a less extreme position.

      @@patthonsirilim5739 The 2022YM has the upgraded quick-shifter which is better for the target market of riders over 40yo. It can always be disabled.

    Nice video, need more on the Katana... Awesome bike. Mine has a Scorpion Red Power exhaust, Healtech X-Tre Powerbox, Powerbronze hugger, Tail Tidy from Mustard Bikes, bar end mirrors and some vinyl work.... I love it!!!!!!

    Properly Sinkronized shifting, up and down is one of the joyous rewards of riding. A quick shifter on a street bike denies you the opportunity of learning to blip the throttle on down shifts and the joy you feel when you get it right.

      Most can be switched off these days... And it's fine to use clutch and throttle blip on the way down even with a shifter activated. I agree though, anyone who grew up without them misses the old way. I particularly prefer downshifting manually and using clutch slip into turns when racing, I find it gives more control over the rear slip and so forth.

    Another informative and honest review. Sounds like someone (insert guilty motorcycle journalist here) has been fiddling with the knobs on the suspension.

      Ha! No, I am fairly sure I had it first in the media - I had the bike earlier in the year, just as COVID hit. It went back to Suzuki with my feedback, hopefully some amendments were made. It was beyond clickers and preload settings. Cheers!

    I can never understand trying to make a cheaper bike into a sports bike. Cracking bike though. I'm getting one

    • @christianeric9899
      @christianeric9899 3 года назад +2

      .. it's not a cheaper bike. Almost same MSRP as gsxr 750, a true sports bike. It's also powered by the gsxr 1000 k5 motor, so it has a sport bike motor. So what are you even taking about here? It's not an sv650 bro lol

      @@christianeric9899 mate.. I've got 2 gsxr1000s plus 5 other bikes..the katana💯 isn't a sports bike .. so by a cheaper bike I mean ,suspension , electronic package , fairing and lots more premium shit.
