Ok, ..I did not expect a motor that looks like it came from an Aircraft Carrier ...that thing is a beast.
Just an outstanding build.
drum sanders don't need much speed at most maybe 1500 - 2300 rpms, what they DO need, and lots of it, is torque; sheer brute power so the drum doesn't slow down with hardwoods and heavier passes. With a less powerful motor you're forced to take much lighter passes and more of them.
The massive benefit of a homemade drum sander is you could fit different drums and maybe have one that is just a huge wire brush for cleaning off old reclaimed timber. - something that cannot be safely done with a thicknesser. There is a commercial version of this, but they cost serious money many many thousands.

Nice work, I'm afraid the motor will jump on its pivot when the belts pull on the pulleys. You might need to fit a car-type shock absorber under the chainring to prevent this. What do your mechanic friends think?

Does the iron bar need to be perfectly straight? When you round the drum on the saw, I think that should correct the very small amount of bend. Or did you think the drum would be unbalanced at high rotational speeds?

Most drum sanders have a moving belt beneath the drum and some kind of housing to contain/collect the dust. Do you plan on adding them?

Maybe not the best idea - from others building drum sanders, those that made the drum out of wood reported that it continually warped as the wood absorbed and released moisture. 1 traced to the drum being glued to the axel and blocked in at both ends. I hope to make one when I get a workshop, I was thinking of securing to the axel only in the middle, allowing it to expand and contract on the ends.

the shaft you might have preferred is not the hot-roll tubing you got, but a length of linear guide shafting. Linear Guide shafting is centerless ground, it is all the same diameter all along the length, and is very precise and straight. What you have there is plain old hot roll, extruded or welded seam tubing. It is not straight, nor is it a precise diameter anywhere along the length. Normally such a piece of tube stock would be subject to machining operations and not used as is.

15:10 переробіть це кріплення. Бо ні вал ні шківи не балансовані, а тому на цю точку підуть навантаження від вібрацій. Двигун не менше 3кВт я так розумію. Страшна сила. А я хочу дивитись відео ще не один рік!
Don't use set screws in opposition to each other--it defeats the purpose. If you need more holding power, use them at right angles to each other.

В чем смысл склеивания со смещением, если заводская склейка слабее, то остальное не имеет смысла
Смысл заключается не в том, чтобы достичь какой-то сверх прочности, а в том что спираль в десятки раз легче обработать на циркулярном станке и нет перерасхода клея!
Обратите на это внимание и поразмышляйте, что легче пилить, монолитный квадрат залитый полностью клеем, или торчащие тонкие лепестки фанеры без клея?
Полноценные доски со временем усыхают и трещины дают. Поэтому всё изделия из целой древесины склеены кусками-снимают напряжение!

Всё хорошо, но... Не согласен с методикой установки шкива. На оси сделать паз для шпонки не вариант? Пять минут работы болгаркой - и нахрен не нужны четыре гужона! А на двигатель шкив устанавливать с ними же - это вообще перебор. Во-первых таких нагрузок в агрегате нет, во-вторых при вибрации (которая неизбежна в данной конструкции) они имеют свойство выкручиваться и тогда ремень очень быстро порвëтся. В остальном - очень хорошо!
Ну а где финиш??? Можно ведь снять пару секунд для чего это сделано. Для простого зрителя можно и объяснить, что это такое?????? Мало написать, что это такое но в конце можно и продемонстрировать его в деле.

не понятно, зачем делать вал из наборной фанеры когда можно сделать из цельного бруска дерева... ЗАЧЕМ???? чтоб видео показать??
Сделать можно, но видимо о усушке древесины и том как изменяются размеры цельной деревяшки вы не слышали раз такое спрашиваете. Но лучше конечно делать из металла. Фанера как ни делай баланса должного не получит. Да и жесткость у фанерного барабана будет не та - стоит посмотреть внимательно видео прямо перед самой оцилиндровкой. Имею нехороший опыт, так и не получилось полностью избавиться от вибраций на таком барабане.

Работа выполнена идеально. Мастерство на высоте. Жаль, но потрачено время и энергия этих рук и ума на тупейшую идею. Столько возни хорошего мастера на шлифстанок, который можно, с тем же фунционалом выполнить проще и быстрее (без гeмopoйной замены наждачной бумаги впоследствии), потрачено на зарабатывание "лайков". Мне жаль тебя, автор. С такими руками и мозгом, тебе бы правильный вектор...
Может стоило показать ваш станок который делается за один присест?
@@nevkon а я не работаю на "лайки". Я просто работаю и содержу семью. И не собираюсь строить из себя звезду Ютуба, выставляя на показ свою работу. Кому надо, тот её видел. Вряд ли вы являетесь одним из числа моих заказчиков. Посему, не вижу смысла что либо вам демонстрировать.
